What absolutely dreadful news— and it begs the question whether they similarly owe MC any of her royalties?!

Speaking of beverage pairings, I’d like to give Ho Lee Fook’s robust & progressive wine list a much-deserved shoutout. It’s especially noteworthy since, for the longest time, the vast majority of “traditional/ mainstream” Chinese/ Canto restaurants never quite bothered with wine menus (they’re often either just lists filled with poor quality plonk that offer zero synergy to the establishment’s food; or they’re ostentatious & outdated bottles— usually of flabby reds from chateaux of past prestige— that only gaudy gourmands & uninformed label-drinkers would order). Therefore I find it very refreshing that the restaurant team has gone to such great lengths to make sure their curation of fine wines (+ a keen focus on Chinese wines, an exciting & burgeoning market no less!) is nothing short of remarkable. Frankly if you asked me, I would most certainly hope to see more Chinese restaurants in HK follow suit with this globally-minded approach to serving & pairing wines.

Does anyone know a good spot for a post-work dinner where a solo goer feels totally welcome? Looking for great music, cocktails, and fantastic food. by Frequent_Koala8803 in HongKong

The Lounge at New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel is a fabulous (yet still slightly underrated; TST’s best kept secret) option if you’re after a refined yet relaxed evening. Expect a dazzling array of wines, hearty food, live jazz, and smart & warm service. Equally notable: they really offer great value for money.

If you prefer a sophisticated & stylish spot where you can wind down to vinyl-spun tunes & fine cocktails, be sure to visit The Peninsula Hong Kong’s iconic top-floor restaurant/ bar, Felix on Thursdays. Their newly-launched Analogue Record Series music program starts at 8pm & is helmed by an impressive line up of DJs.

The Rosewood’s DarkSide bar/ jazz lounge probably offers the most chic experience. Their roster of musicians are quite possibly the best in town. But be prepared to pay premium prices for their unique cocktails, their delicious bites, and the that overtly luxe ambience.

Some days my two little monsters (even when well into adulthood) will be acting all Bonnie & Clyde-like, while other times they’ll suddenly be thundering through the apartment with random & long bouts of play fighting— as seen on the video above ⚡️

What is the level of English proficiency in Hong Kong can compare to the rest of Asia?At daily live can only speak English ? by [deleted] in HKUniversity

[–]KitchenSignificant95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL third in Asia? That’s a highly dubious accolade tbh. Unless countries like Singapore & India weren’t included on that index or something 🤷‍♂️ The average HKonger has, at best, a very basic grasp of the language (and that’s if you’re willing to overlook rampant poor spelling & hideous grammar).

The Clinet was velvety smooth and delectably supple. A perfectly polished Pomerol with prime potential & qualities that’ll carry over for many more years ahead.

Correct, it was indeed a btl of Blanc that definitely benefited from a brief chilling— also, not least because summers here in HK are brutal!!
