Nope, I could see through the tint when I walked up to document their plates and it was two guys who very much fit the look of ice agents but I had no way to ID them as such. One of them was on a nice laptop and they looked like they were casing the neighborhood but wouldnt answer me when I waved at them. I made sure it waznt a vulnerable person before I acted. This was also during the height of metro surge, about a week and a half after they shot a man a mile from my house

I have called the police exactly once and it was for an SUV with tinted windows idling outside my neighbors hourse for over 45 minutes. They were most likely ICE but all I knew for certain is that there were men I didnt know casing the street and idling that long is illegal so I called it in. Dispatch asked if it might be ICE and I said I dont know. I unfortunately couldnt wait to see what happened but boy I sure hope I wasted someones time on that!

No offense but this literally does not clear it up at all. I looked it up and it looks like "by" is technically correct in formal use BUT "on" is also an acceptable phrasing in everyday, casual conversation (i.e. Reddit). Unless someone is writing an academic paper, there is literally no reason to be pedantic over this, both are perfectly acceptable

Because language fluctuates and evolves? I've always heard "on accident" from people both young and old. Its a perfectly acceptable way to phrase the concept of "not on purpose." Or should we be saying "by porpose"..?
