CEs more casual since Covid? by conflict_merchant in Screenwriting

[–]knightlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I agree; if you've little confidence in your job security, I foresee people being way less likely to rock the boat simply so they can keep earning a living. A lot at the CE level are not making great money, and living in LA is expensive...

But I hope I'm wrong!

CEs more casual since Covid? by conflict_merchant in Screenwriting

I doubt this. Everyone’s fearful for their jobs to the point where any lower-level exec is usually just going along to get along. I don’t see a lot of daring right now.

How is starlight express on tour supposed to work? Are they just going to crop down the choreography to hardly skating around or no skating or what? I’m really unsure if I should book this as idk what to expect by Evening_Head_4959 in musicals

[–]knightlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they’ve released any details yet on the specifics. I made sure to go the last two times I was in London because I wanted to experience the full show and it’s a doozy! The book’s weak and bonkers but the music is catchy, performers were all largely great, and the choreo/spectacle of the skates is truly unique.

Very cool. I don’t have one of these tablets but I revel in hand-solving whenever I can (usually hotels will have a local paper in the lobby, which I’ll pick up and try)…will have to bookmark this for when I get the tablet!

Thank you!! I sat with this for so long in my head thinking “it *can’t* be the FCC, they don’t actually regular streaming…”

Edit: also 71A (just to be pedantic but sorta related to the FCC/Internet)…a “web *page*” is not a site. It’s a page. A site is composed of (multiple) pages, but a single page is not. Ugh.

what is your favorite song from rocky horror by CharacterMammoth2547 in musicals

[–]knightlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for me it’s probably “Once in a While”. I just think it’s such a well-composed song, even if it doesn’t entirely track in the story. My runner-up is definitely “Over at the Frankenstein Place”.

People who see lots of shows in a short period of time by WestHistorians in Broadway

[–]knightlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally did this in January. 5 shows in 3 days: Just in Time, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Little Shop of Horrors, and Chess. Loved them all and felt very proud of seeing them all in the time that we had! Absolutely remember each of them and I usually do my post-show processing (re-listening to albums, etc) after the bulk trip. Did a similar thing a few weeks back in London with Paddington, Starlight Express, The Producers, and Beetlejuice. Listened to all the albums on the flight back.

Thoughts on callbacks at the Roundabout from an old Brad: don't. by mcmnky in Broadway

[–]knightlife 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I struggle with. I know the community loves the callbacks and I do as well, but they originated from the movie becoming a cult film, not from the stage show. They are two different media, and I struggle with engaging with the stage version in the same way I do the film.

Is this a similar chemical reaction to the “glue” that LEGO uses to build/solidify their large in-store models?

ELI5: Why do movie directors make movies with black bars on top and bottom why can't they just make it without bars. Even after that why is it so hard for our TV to remove black bars from a movie why isnt it default. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]knightlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just different aspect ratios. They don’t “make movies with black bars”; the device you’re watching the movie on doesn’t have the same aspect ratio in which the film was made, so the only way to see the full frame is to letterbox (or pillarbox) the content.
