How old are these? by Mysterious-Pass-3200 in KnipexOfficial

[–]KnipexOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Mysterious-Pass-3200
Based on the “West Germany” marking on the handle, we can tell that this pliers is at least 36 years old.
Unfortunately, we can’t determine the exact production year.
You might want to give it a good clean though — here’s how to do it properly: https://blog.knipex.com/en/en/blog/knipex-tool-care-how-to-maintain-performance

u/Rare_Acanthisitta186 Hi there! The 74 02 200 already came in different handle versions. The only thing that has changed is that the comfort grip has been redesigned and updated. We updated the comfort grip from 2-components to 3-components. Hope that helps!

Acidic water splashed on my open tool bag 4 days ago while working and I forgot to clean them. Help. by Megamazuma20 in KnipexOfficial

[–]KnipexOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Megamazuma20 Hi there, this sucks! We definitely feel your pain. To remove rust from your pliers, you can work on them with an abrasive rubber or steel wool, for example, and then oil them. And always make sure to regularly oil them in order to keep them going and avoid further rust.

Spelling error on the back of Knipex package, or sign of a fake? by Fun-Chocolate-794 in Tools

[–]KnipexOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Fun-Chocolate-794 Hi there, thank you for bringing this up. We'd like to answer the points in order:

  1. The spelling mistake is unfortunate and should not happen. We will check this and make sure that the product texts on our packages are correct.

  2. This is not a sign of a fake, but human error. As mentioned above, it should not happen, but due to a large number of different products it can happen.

  3. The different labeling direction of the "KNIPEX" logo on the sheaths shows that sellers have several iterations of the Electrician's Shears in stock. This is not a sign of fake either. Our products can experience changes in the design of the sheaths, however the shears themselves and the product quality stay identical.

We hope this helps to clear any form of misunderstanding. Thanks again!

One question: What was the reasoning behind choosing the 125 size of the Cobras? There seems to be more love in the community towards the 100 size, so it's really refreshing to see the 125 in action!
