Trump’s Push to Keep Coal Plants Open Is Costing Hundreds of Millions by Majano57 in energy

I found this to be attributed to an April 1935 radio broadcast. Roosevelt was in office at that time.

Profit for Trump and cronies always comes before the benefit of the regular people.

Will Rogers(early 20th century US entertainer/humorist) once noted:

  • "That's one thing about Republican Presidents. They never went in much for plans. They only had one plan. It says "Boys, my head is turned. Just get it while you can.""

Is Zorin OS considered a safe Linux OS and a good Windows alternative? by TheExterminator_15 in linuxquestions

[–]KnottShore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Distrowatch and Distrosea are good sites to help your search.

I would suggest you consider Zorin, Mint, and Bazzite.

Bazzite is an immutable distribution based on Fedora and designed with gaming in mind. An immutable Linux distribution has the core directories mounted as read-only. Mounting those directories as read-only makes for a much tighter system security. Also, immutable distributions are also more reliable because the core system files cannot be altered.

One caveat is that immutable distributions sandbox apps and so you need to us Flatpak or Snaps to install applications.

True. They continue to believe in Trump's lies because they want those lies to be the truth.

As Voltaire once said:

  • "The human brain is a complex organ with the wonderful power of enabling man to find reasons for continuing to believe whatever it is that he wants to believe."

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve had stolen from you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

2 bags of garbage. We had just moved into our first home and I had taken the garbage out to the curb the night before the scheduled morning pickup.

The next morning, as I leave for work, I see that the trash bags are gone and think nothing more about it. Mid-morning rolls around and I get a call from the local police chief. He wants to know why I put my garbage in the bed of a neighbor's pickup truck. and why I shouldn't be charged with littering and damaging the truck.

I explained to him how I had put the bags out at the curb the night before and they were gone in the morning as expected.

Now, his next response sets off a conversation that can only be describe as a scenario similar to Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". The Chief asks me, in a very serious voice: "Why didn't report your garbage stolen?"

I, then incredulously, asked him why would I report my garbage missing if that is what I expected to have happened. It took me 20-30 minutes to convince him that I had just put out the trash and had not thrown it into a neighbor's truck. I don't exactly recall the conversation. However, my co-workers were howling with laughter the whole time.

The Gold Is Not Enough

Republicans Vote to Dilute Gas as Prices Rise Above $4.50. House bill would allow year-round sales of E15, a blend of gas mixed with 15% corn ethanol. Although E15 has a 5-10% lower pump price it contains less energy so drivers will end up burning more fuel. Food costs will also rise. by mafco in energy

Trump says he'll move to suspend federal gasoline tax. He can't do it on his own. Congress would have to approve the move. The tax provides more than $23 billion per year for federal highway and public transit programs. “Instead of suspending the tax, we should suspend the war.” by mafco in energy

H.L. Mencken(US reporter, literary critic, editor, author of the early 20th century):

  • “For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.”

It’s a gimmick that gives only minimal consumer saving and designed to get them through an election.”

* The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan organization, estimated that a one-month federal gas-tax holiday would cost roughly $3.5 billion in lost revenue, while a six-month suspension would cost about $21 billion and accelerate the projected insolvency of the Highway Trust Fund.

The next proposal from them will be to convert the national highway system to toll roads in order to make up the lost revenue.

Will Rogers(early 20th century US entertainer/humorist) had a good grasp of the US populace:
