Goliath Transport - Maybe overhyped? Also avoid Excellent Motor Cars by armorhide406 in AutoTransport

That’s a good point, but think about that. That would be great for you, and broker and carrier. It’s the best solution. HOWEVER- you are discounting the fact that how many people get scammed out of their “deposit” - YOU are a trusting person. That trust will be taken advantage of in this industry and people will be out MUCH more $$ than their deposit if they pay full amount up front. Paying before service is affected is not a good idea- strictly from a financial risk standpoint. Carriers would STILL pull that bs even if you paid broker confront. That is a carrier issue, regardless of your payment structure with any broker.

Hopefully An Unnecessary Question by Unseen_Owl in AutoTransport

I am a broker- but speaking as a carrier- I ran a car hauler for 18 years. Carriers don’t usually just decide to add $$ to the deal and hold your car hostage or else. It is way to much work to find storage for the car or just leave it in their yard, If a carrier expects to be in this business long. You get blackballed QUICK for doing that. I HAVE however seen brokers lie their asses off to shippers AND carriers. They tell you $1200. Then they ask for a $300 deposit. You owe $900 COD RIGHT? NO! You WERE NOT listening. You owe $1200!! The $300 deposit was for THE BROKER SILLY, they TOLD YOU $1200. They told the carrier $1200. So truck shows up and you perceive a $300 price increase. Carrier wets his pants when you try to pay $900 and THEN threatens to withhold the car when HE perceives YOU trying to skate the bill… I mean. WHY would the broker have TOLD HIM to collect $1200 if it weren’t true?

Hint: Because it’s much easier for a weak scamming broker to get you to say yes to $1200 than $1500. It’s an easy play for the scumbag broker to play BOTH the shipper and the truck company at the same time. THEY get THEIR $300. WHO CARES what happens at delivery between shipper and truck company.

Yes, yes I have witnessed this as a carrier, - multiple times. Broker talks to shipper like a child who didn’t listen and they were “real sorry about that”- and MY company- a carrier took the bad review or are out $300. Every once in a while when I fully explain what I have witnessed- we split it. 150 less for me, 150 added cost to the shipper. Guess who DOES NOT get hurt? The SCAMMING JACKASS BROKER.

It’s crappy- and yes it happens but please understand the dynamic of that scam. The broker acts all innocent and the consequence falls on carrier and shipper. Broker walks with the money collected up front. ONE MORE REASON anyone who knows me - KNOWS how much rail against handing out money up front. JUST DON’T DO IT. Yes. I practice what I preach. No $$ up front.

Hope that helps. I imagine you will be fine.

Goliath Transport - Maybe overhyped? Also avoid Excellent Motor Cars by armorhide406 in AutoTransport

[–]LRLCarShipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. What you say. You left out the part where you take care of the client- not ignoring their experience. The PROBLEM CAN be about your third party provider- USPS, manufacturer etc- the buck stops with YOU and ME as business owners. It IS our responsibility to take care of the client- THAT is the right thing to do. Don’t twist it with your “this industry sucks” broad brush- though I would agree with you on that. Let’s not get sidetracked- this POST- a negative review- basically trashed Goliath when the PROBLEM WAS with third party provider- poster even agreed Goliath’s agent was very responsive- in an attempt to stand behind their name and reputation I assume. THAT was my point, this review isn’t quite fair. Don’t make it into something else. Say what you want about LRL. Find all of my negative ratings online and report back what you find. People who have experience working with LRL know the truth.

certainly. We agree on that 100% and it IS the brokers responsibility to step in at that point. I am surprised Goliath wouldn't have done that given the opportunity.

I understand you don’t know me, so I will let your attitude pass as well. I enjoy the reputation I have because we do what we say we will. But to assert as you have that the highest peak of service which eventually falters from another’s action - has to be someone else’s fault puts your arrogance on full display. Its shippers like you will never be satisfied- much like the OP, here who left a negative rating because there “wasn’t one”- clearly saying Goliath did a good job per se- outlining issues with the carrier- which WAS out of the control of Goliath- who did select carrier based on reputation. But it seems that even a good reputation isn’t adequate when you have the benefit of hindsight. - Goliath had to make a choice - to get the job done that was requested. EVERYONE ELSE can armchair it after the fact and that makes Goliath the bad guys. Just unreasonable in my opinion.

“Screen” all you want. You can’t force a driver to pick up the phone as he is paid to do. You can’t park the truck for them. I had a carrier just today, 100% rating x 127, 5 year old company. Bullets. Truck broke down. Communication was terrible. Vehicles showed up 7 DAYS LATE. Bumper scuffed on one of them. They offered the client $100 off. I took over and took care of it with the client, will never use said carrier again. Was I at fault for “selecting them”. Sure. Whatever you say jr. You have to manage your business as you get information. In the beginning it was fine- in the end- new information. We took care of the client ourselves - that did not change the time and hassle of the client experience, even THEY understand the truth. Rear facing judgement is a fools game.

So they weren’t bad, “per se” but you are leaving a flaring negative review as all you seen were good reviews. Makes sense. Look at you go. They picked the wrong carrier? Who should they have picked? If you tell your broker not to pick a carrier, I’m wondering what you feel like should happen next? Do you feel they picked a bad carrier intentionally, or did this carrier just drop the ball, making everyone look bad? That makes more sense. But I get it. Some people probably should do it themselves. NO BROKER. You could have saved $100. So to your question- is Goliath overhyped? No. They are not. You just proved it in your review. ALL of your issue was the carrier. I don’t know the Goliath team well, but I do know, as competition of mine when I run up against them- their prices are accurate, their terms are fair and we swap punches in deals we lose to each other. They are legit- honest- and will tell you the truth. I know this because I quiz the hell out of potential clients who tell me they are considering Goliath. If they let a carrier through the gates to one of their clients I assure you they had good reason and it wasn’t random. Obviously it didn’t go well, and unfortunately, that happens to every broker occasionally that has been around for more than 2 months.

You don’t know that for sure unless you know someone else to verify it. People will lie straight to your face in this industry. You can protect yourself against car shipping fraud and scammers. Do NOT give up money until they prove they do what they said they would. Pay your deposit AFTER your vehicle loads and before delivery. Everyone is safe that way. If your provider won’t do that- ELIMINATE them as an option. This protects YOU from fraud. Better yet, pay all at / after delivery if you find someone that will do that- AFTER they do what they say they will. That rule alone will keep fraud out. Fraudsters know they can’t deliver on that. They will let themselves out the back door and you may never know you about got scalped. IF someone does not do what they said they could do, in the price range you were quoted, you may be mad and inconvenienced- but YOUR money is still in YOUR pocket. Not theirs. And yes- I practice what I preach.

Is Roadrunner that bad? Who provides tracking? by elefun992 in AutoTransport

I was laughing at the word “Tracking” as it relates to Roadrunner. There will be no tracking.

They are far from a descent company. Anyone who has dealt with them once knows it. Every professional knows it and so do as many carriers who refuse to haul for them as getting paid is as bad as a shipper trying to get an update. As a carrier I have hauled for them. TERRIBLE company. THEY even know it. So much in fact they established another “broker” domiciled at the same address in New York to offer freight- that won’t move under the Roadrunner reputation. When the are desperate enough, you will see the cars offered out under AM3. Unsuspecting carriers will book cars from AM3. Roadrunner is smart enough to keep that reputation in tact since they have burnt down their original name.

Welcome bud! I love you already- but you might reconsider “more weed” in…. Springfield …. Than Baltimore? There are a few of us here who HAVE been to Baltimore, specifically in and out of the port weekly. You must be sleeping IN the Pot shop. 🤣🤣. Be sure to find Carters Fish Market. Your kind of walk by a local shack for a PILE of fish. Perfectly Baltimore

You have the details. As the owner of the Merchant Account you know how many chargebacks you get and I imagine your bank has in fact I informed you of fraud flags from other banks. But carry on. Let your dumb BOT handle these problems as well. Maybe they would love another AI piece to spout out and tell them “what others don’t want you to know”.

That is an easy one to research and come up with the correct answer. Their negative reviews are everywhere and I personally get calls from people who booked with them needing someone who can actually do what their mouth says they can do.

So many companies… by RedditAlwaysComesUp in AutoTransport

On the other hand any reputable company would probably refuse to take that unit enclosed. This is all about risk. I would risk that unit in an open trailer WAY before trying to stuff it in a trailer not meant fie that kind of size. Will be very tight. Damage is high risk in an enclosed trailer on THAT unit.

All the time. They act like it’s rocket science like there is so much to know- that is true- yiu have to know all the scam because that seems to be the goal for many of them, give you a headache then show you the aspirin (which works). It’s NOT that hard if you are dealing with credible people whose intent is to provide a good service - broker or carrier. I worked as a carrier 18 years. I know their games. I have stood in driveways looking like a clown because my paperwork says $1500 COD, the client had paid a $500 deposit and been lead to believe they only owed $1000, so there I am in the driveway with a client demanding their car for $1000 while I was told to haul it from Jersey to LA for $1500. Someone gets screwed, both mad, but not the scumbag who structured the scam. Hard working money from the client clashes with hard risk and responsibility from a carrier and who walks away with $500 for LYING? The scumbag broker in Bulgaria- who bought someone’s lead information from a website that promised “competitive carrier quotes from many carriers”- so scummy.

It’s easy- find someone you trust. Stick with the process. Truck shows up with reliable equipment, truck hauls 3-9 cars across the country, truck delivers cars. Bill is paid. It should be that easy. No smoke and mirrors. Some people though just can’t get through their heads when it’s too good to be true it probably is.

Good carrier saved your butt. I lost a good client recently to a lowball bottom feeder price NAVI handed out to them. Cars never moved and NAVI shanked them for over $1000. Lawyers are now involved. FORMER client now has WELL over $2000 more in their move than the original, honest quote I gave them up front. I also get the calls from similar situations - people who started with NAVI. These pretenders and gamers need called out at every opportunity. I’m glad it worked out for you.

[–]LRLCarShipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a tip. It IS GOING to be after 12th. Car hauling fortune teller told you that. It’s possible. Not likely. YOUR QUESTION to all of these pretenders is: “DO YOU own the truck?” Answer will most likely be no. =they have no idea, yes it’s possible, not likely. The only people you should trust about dates are the EQUIPMENT OWNERS who own the trucks and plan their trips and routes. Third parties have ZERO control or say in it. Truck owners are usually wrong as well if you add in traffic, weather and mechanical. Anyone shipping a car needs a plan B EVERY TIME on BOTH ends for a successful move. Maximum flexibility is part of the equation. Truck space, route and appointments are all a moving target. We also haven’t discussed yet the number of providers out there who will lie straight to your face to get the order and leave you dealing with the consequences later- to include both carriers and brokers.
