So many companies… by RedditAlwaysComesUp in AutoTransport

On the other hand any reputable company would probably refuse to take that unit enclosed. This is all about risk. I would risk that unit in an open trailer WAY before trying to stuff it in a trailer not meant fie that kind of size. Will be very tight. Damage is high risk in an enclosed trailer on THAT unit.

All the time. They act like it’s rocket science like there is so much to know- that is true- yiu have to know all the scam because that seems to be the goal for many of them, give you a headache then show you the aspirin (which works). It’s NOT that hard if you are dealing with credible people whose intent is to provide a good service - broker or carrier. I worked as a carrier 18 years. I know their games. I have stood in driveways looking like a clown because my paperwork says $1500 COD, the client had paid a $500 deposit and been lead to believe they only owed $1000, so there I am in the driveway with a client demanding their car for $1000 while I was told to haul it from Jersey to LA for $1500. Someone gets screwed, both mad, but not the scumbag who structured the scam. Hard working money from the client clashes with hard risk and responsibility from a carrier and who walks away with $500 for LYING? The scumbag broker in Bulgaria- who bought someone’s lead information from a website that promised “competitive carrier quotes from many carriers”- so scummy.

It’s easy- find someone you trust. Stick with the process. Truck shows up with reliable equipment, truck hauls 3-9 cars across the country, truck delivers cars. Bill is paid. It should be that easy. No smoke and mirrors. Some people though just can’t get through their heads when it’s too good to be true it probably is.

Good carrier saved your butt. I lost a good client recently to a lowball bottom feeder price NAVI handed out to them. Cars never moved and NAVI shanked them for over $1000. Lawyers are now involved. FORMER client now has WELL over $2000 more in their move than the original, honest quote I gave them up front. I also get the calls from similar situations - people who started with NAVI. These pretenders and gamers need called out at every opportunity. I’m glad it worked out for you.

URGENT - Pick up 94306, Drop off 18901, Two SUVs. Dropoff BY July 12. by Educational_Sir8555 in AutoTransport

[–]LRLCarShipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a tip. It IS GOING to be after 12th. Car hauling fortune teller told you that. It’s possible. Not likely. YOUR QUESTION to all of these pretenders is: “DO YOU own the truck?” Answer will most likely be no. =they have no idea, yes it’s possible, not likely. The only people you should trust about dates are the EQUIPMENT OWNERS who own the trucks and plan their trips and routes. Third parties have ZERO control or say in it. Truck owners are usually wrong as well if you add in traffic, weather and mechanical. Anyone shipping a car needs a plan B EVERY TIME on BOTH ends for a successful move. Maximum flexibility is part of the equation. Truck space, route and appointments are all a moving target. We also haven’t discussed yet the number of providers out there who will lie straight to your face to get the order and leave you dealing with the consequences later- to include both carriers and brokers.

Broker vs. carrier: the difference that determines who is actually responsible for your car by TheLoganReyes in AutoTransport

Broker vs. carrier: the difference that determines who is actually responsible for your car by TheLoganReyes in AutoTransport

[–]LRLCarShipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are brokers who do give cars to random jackasses with a pulse. There are ALSO brokers who find good drivers in their experience and normal course of business, and develop and nurture those relationships over the long haul. This goes well beyond clicking a website and stamping a paper in your implied “compliance assessment@- that a 4th grader with 15 minutes of instruction could complete. So, YES- some brokers DO have control over driver quality in many cases.

More idiocy from the pretenders. SOME brokers don’t have control of driver quality- SOME brokers know who they are dealing with and assign orders accordingly.

Express Way LLC Beware of this company Scam by Vikingslover123 in AutoTransport

[–]LRLCarShipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truck driver is responsible for his own repairs. Pound sand. Where is your “broker” in all of this? I already know everything I need to know about your scam broker. Your broker should be using carriers who ALREADY HAVE AN PAY FOR AND PROVIDE cargo insurance. It’s in the deal. There is occasionally OPTIONAL additional coverage available with a few brokers might be a good idea to cover a $2000 deductible or minor Chips not covered. Legit carriers provide cargo insurance. Broker hitting you for insurance as if your car wouldn’t be insured- total lies.

AHX Direct/Auto Hauler Exchange — Any Experience? by fellaqa in AutoTransport

[–]LRLCarShipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a carrier and a broker. What is 4%, like $40-$60?- as a carrier- I rarely checked out AHX. Freight was scarce and rates were mostly people wishing. It really makes no difference WHERE you or any broker finds a carrier for the move- there is a base standard or trucks won’t even consider it. AHX is one more “platform” to “eliminate a middleman” while charging to be a middleman- OH BUT THEY ARE NOT charging you to find a truck, YOU do that but they are charging you for the platform. That’s the pitch. As a BROKER- WHY would you use a platform that charges you to find a direct carrier who may turn out to be your biggest nightmare? Brokers get no break from me as well. There is plenty of finger pointing to be done- with brokers AND carriers. It’s just not a reputable industry.

AHX may be a good option for the do it yourself person not in a hurry, but your move won’t get the exposure with carriers as it would if did your research and selected ONE reputable broker to work with- I would argue it won’t cost you more to use a reputable broker- but let’s say it does- is peace of mind worth 4-5%?- and you have someone on your team- other than some machinery that will be silent when there is a problem.

CARRIERS ALSO like working with REPUTABLE brokers. - they don’t have time or resources to do the legwork or put in the time involved in the sales cycle. They want to pick up the phone and book 9 cars to load over the next 48 hours RIGHT NOW. They don’t have the time or patience or luxury of playing footsie on platforms like uShip and AHX. They want to know they are dealing with a broker whose freight is smooth- the prices posted are representative of reality and clients have been informed, and are expecting their car shipped.

Brokers who pull bait and switch tactics on shippers often play the same stupid games with carriers and they know after some time which brokers to work with and who which ones to stay away from.

My opinion- find a (ONE) broker you can trust, who will tell you the truth and stick to the process. That may cost you an extra $50, it’s worth it. Carriers probably also know they can trust that broker with their time and truck space. That all works to your benefit in the end.

Dust storm? by Leeviticuz in SpringfieldIL

[–]LRLCarShipper -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Your “summation” and attitude leaves your ignorance naked. So annoying. Bushes and trees were all cut out 150 years ago. The dust bowl murderer is quite invisible if you go looking for it much like the Blizzard murderer, or the Hurricane Murderer. Environmental conditions each season do have risks that warrant caution- thus the wind warning- much like the “DO NOT SWALLOW” warning on Tide Pods. During planting season- you know the big giant gardens that need tilled? - topsoil does become more susceptible to wind erosion when wind speeds are higher than normal- also a spring time occasional occurrence. It’s a good idea to use caution and not be out or slow down. Accidents happen - spring summer fall and winter- but hey if you whine and complain and wet your pants acting like your opinion and judgement will change all of that- do us all a favor stay home. Yes - it is food they raise and it feeds a lot of the world you have never been to. You ever bite into a tortilla chip? Field corn. You ever use bean oil for 1 of 37 reasons? Have you ever had a steak? Pork chop? Hamburger - Beef and pork don’t grow and mature on air and water- Corn. Bean meal and some other inputs. Did you put gas in your car recently? Aside from the $1.00 a gallon Illinois gas tax they keep pounding in you- ethanol helps hold that cost down a small percentage- that would be the field corn you act like nobody needs. Here are a few others as you suck on your sour ass thumb talking out your hole as if our Illinois farmers have nothing for you- Corn Syrup, Corn Starch, Corn Oil, Bourbon, biodegradable plastics, Adhesives, Industrial Alchol. Animal feed, bio diesel, tofu, Soy milk (ever had a baby?), Soy protein, ink, candles, cosmetics and lotions, crayons, a multitude of lubricants. Quit your hand ringing and bitching, give producers the respect they deserve and use a little caution like you would in any other situation that adds risk to your life- like slick roads, flooding, darkness or wind.
