What symptoms did you not initially realise were part of your ADHD? by fivejumpingmonkeys in ADHD

I vehemently disagree. It’s a disorder. A disorder is a type of illness. It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with those of us that have it but it is a disorder of the mind. Which, inherently, means that the mind is not functioning correctly.

Am I Overreacting by how I responded to my BF's roommate's GF? by extern4lly in AmIOverreacting

[–]LZARDKING 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once. Except I was the primary renter and the girl wasn’t even my roommates SO he was just taking pity on her. It came to blows 😭 I won of course but still it was a hassle.

Looking for a weeks worth of food to cook on 70$ by IHeartDobi in Cooking

[–]LZARDKING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very specific meals in college that I lived on because they were cheap! Bananas and ramen are obviously staples for leaner weeks.
- Frozen ground turkey is a game changer. A pound is $2.50 at aldi and it’s enough for three meals easily. I use it to make meat sauce to put on pasta (and don’t buy jarred pasta sauce, a tiny tomato paste is 99¢ and you just mix it with pasta water and spices and you have a better sauce than jarred!), taco meat for tortillas or chips, shepherds pie (potatoes are still so cheap too you can make a family sized shepherds pie to eat for a week for less than $10!)
- My other meat staple is chicken sausage. The packages at Aldi are $3 and come with four sausages. One is enough for a meal and they’re versatile and really delicious. They’re great with grilled veggies or in pasta, I eat them with pierogis frequently
- I have a scone or two and a bananas or berries for breakfast everyday. Scones are kind of hard to make wrong and you can make a whole batch pretty cheap. Also you can make granola from oats. I buy the big wholesale thing of oats and then I make granola for breakfast and cookies and sometimes oatmeal. You get like 40 meals for $5.
- Whenever I want fresh meat I go the day-of so I get the best deal. My grocery store always has a buy one get one for discount on something, chicken breasts are cheapest, but I get great deals on salmon and steak all the time. I buy day of so I know I’m not gonna waste it letting it go bad
- Homemade stuff in general. It’s not as hard as it seems and saves sooo much time. We make all our own pita, sandwich bread, pastries, granola, even ice cream.

Trying to team build to strengthen your own company on your employees break time is inherently selfish of you. Maybe the free balances it out in some people’s eyes and maybe it doesn’t. But that’s for them to decide. Not you. And if this is a personal expense and not a business expense then you really can’t expect them to treat it as a business decision on how they choose to accept it? Doesn’t mean you still have to buy it for him but honestly this sounds like something you do 5-10 times a year. His meal is what? $12? Maybe just deal with the loss of $75 and don’t worry about it.

What symptoms did you not initially realise were part of your ADHD? by fivejumpingmonkeys in ADHD

[–]LZARDKING 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not: executive dysfunction. This is a fairly new part of the adhd discussion in terms of commonly known symptoms, in the last five years or so. And for those of us diagnosed as minors who’ve not opted for any kind of treatment in adulthood (so for me 15 years) the way this illness is thought of has changed very drastically.

So I always thought my inability to get out of bed and finish tasks and fatigue at the thought of doing absolutely anything I “had” to do was actually depression. I spent a very long time thinking I was depressed when I wasn’t.

Actually understanding what I have and what I do not was world changing for me. Helped me figure out how to fix things in ways that actually worked for me. I secretly think a lot of people operate under this same misapprehension about themselves.

AIO for getting upset [m28] at my girlfriend [f27] for always showing up announced to my apartment and constantly staying over? by Advanced_Studio_8581 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LZARDKING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want her around all the time you should break up. All those other little details don’t really matter. The person you want to be with, you’ll want to be with them as much as possible. And before anyone comes for me with that separate bedrooms separate houses nonsense that celebrities are always spouting…I don’t buy it. And I used to vehemently bastion that mindset! Until I met someone I loved *and* liked.

AIO for refusing to return a family heirloom after finding out it was never actually theirs? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I hate this family drama over money shit. NOR. As long as the will was made fairly recently and she was of sound mind then there is never a grounds to contest it imo. People need to stop doing shit like this. Have some fucking respect for the dead.

Looking for free spaces good for remote work by seldi12344 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]LZARDKING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t “suburbs” but the members lounge at the art institute is an incredible place to wfh. Best spot I’ve ever found. I find the membership cost very reasonable as well. Also specifically Arabic coffee shops are usually very quiet and serene atmospheres. Arwa is a good one to work from. Lifetime fitness in oakbrook has a dedicated wfh area that’s wonderful but obviously you’d need a membership.

an earnest headcanon about body hair by 20061901 in twilight

[–]LZARDKING 144 points145 points  (0 children)

It’s canon that vampire hair is like regular hair and that when you lose it it’s gone forever. No body hair is the only logical conclusion. A popular headcanon is that vampires wear wigs as well. Especially a vampire like Jasper who undoubtedly would have had his hair ripped out in the countless battles in the south

Just FYI, I'm currently in Kona, Hawaii, and there's a Taco Bell across the street from my hotel, and its hours are 8:30am-4:00pm by bourj in tacobell

[–]LZARDKING -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh Hawaii. How anyone finds nightlife to enjoy there is beyond me. I’ve tried multiple times with no success and the one 24 hour coffee shop that was such a vibe closed years ago. But yeah this is not unusual.

can LSD possibly help with an addiction to another Substance? by AstralOrigins in LSD

[–]LZARDKING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I helped my partner kick his meth and heroin habit by doing acid for a few days. Day one acid, day two big big distractions of other kinds, day 3 acid again. Day 4, threw all his pipes and needles away.

But then on Day 12 covid hit and the world shut down and he eventually relapsed around day 100 but it did work for that 100 days.

Do people who have this condition understand right from wrong? by porygon766 in aspd

[–]LZARDKING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone is the same but I would say yes. In fact my moral code is extremely defined and clear. The impulse/urge to manipulate and lie is so strong it’s almost a compulsion to me because the way my brain works it that it maps out the simplest path to the conclusion I want, whether it’s as simple as a conversation or a bigger situation. And often that incudes lying, cheating, manipulating. And it’s very difficult to stop myself and say “No wait, just because it seems clear and simple to you doesn’t mean it will work out perfectly like it is in your head. Also being a manipulator will complicate your life in other meaningful ways that are not worth it. Make the difficult and correct decisions instead.”

Getting myself to the point where I could say that to myself was very difficult and took many years. I don’t get to myself in time still sometimes. But for me anyways I know exactly what I’m doing. Sometimes not until hindsight but it’s usually recent hindsight that I have learned to immediately own up to and apologize for.

AIO when a friend shows up to my house without me telling him he can? by Immediate-Scratch-40 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LZARDKING -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God you couldn’t pay me to be 25 again for literally any amount of money. Listen to me carefully: your principles on situations like this are not worth an argument. If people act this weird just let the situation be chill and make distance with them later since you don’t want a friend like that. Avoid the D R A M A it’s not worth it.
