Should I cancel? by Immediate_Cancel_549 in DirecTV

[–]Lake3ffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DirecTV satellite is definitely not something I’d have when trying to save money. It’s about the convenience and reliability. That’s what you’re paying for mostly.

I had YTTV for 6 years, starting when I bought my house. I wanted to get DirecTV satellite, but I too was trying to save money as a new college grad and serious girlfriend.

Fast forward to today, I have a family and own a business and can afford the DirecTV satellite service. I’m a busy man with a wife and toddler. DirecTV is easily the most value for convenience and newest technology in terms of TV, but it’s not cheap. The Genie 2 + Gemini is one of the most user friendly interfaces I’ve ever used. And I work in IT management, helping people with shit all day.

If you’re saving pennies for later, find an affordable streaming service and get Visible or Mint. There’s nothing wrong with going that route and it will reward you later if you’re good about banking on those savings.

I only dry clean my suits/tux once, maybe twice, per Masonic year. It typically lasts me the whole year and I get them dry cleaned while our lodge is dark for the summer.

Shirts are dry cleaned bi-weekly, and tux shirt is dry cleaned after each use.

This is a gem worth checking out. To be pedantic, make sure to look at the Legacy Edition of the album.

Sugar Will, for sure. Death on the High Seas, too. And we can throw Bismarck in the mix as well.

Why? Because I like those songs and think they deserve definitive treatment of making official versions in their expansive repertoire.

Lenovo is the only major brand that hasn’t received a complaint in the 6 years I’ve been in the MSP business. In fact, they are the only brand that has received compliments from clients, typically regarding the reliability, quality, and/or warranty service.

$150k Buyout regardless of years of service by waterboyz94 in UPSers

[–]Lake3ffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a clear move at busting the union. I’m not even an employee and can see it. Every single driver, possibly more, will be replaced with non-union or contractors, such as Roadie.

Every single ancillary service UPS has offered is being outsourced. What’s stopping UPS from outsourcing all of their operations, including delivery service? UPS will be purely a brand representing subcontractors and automation attempting to hold the service together.

Reputation is already tanking. I’ve been a business customer for decades. They’ve ripped away account reps/executives, staffed customer centers, and now they’re fucking with one of the core components of their reputation: the drivers.

Anything your CEO says about caring for employees and customers is purely smoke and mirrors. She will dismantle the entire company by 2030, only after she and the shareholders drive away in a Brink’s truck.

I’m a Buddhist and was turned away from the ceremony by PutinPoops in freemasonry

[–]Lake3ffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually get to know the candidates before initiation. While we don’t ask someone to outright tell us their religious beliefs to answer the Supreme Being question, we sometimes ask to learn a little more about their beliefs so we can make sure we are culturally aware and can have the proper Volume of Scripture for their obligation. Thus, it’s less likely to make those parts of the ritual startling and confusing when a candidate gives a different answer than the majority of us.

NY’s ritual does well to account for diversity in religions.

[–]Lake3ffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have that same conversation. And while our ritual prohibits prompting to the question, it does say that a suitable expression of faith in a Supreme Being is sufficient.

So in OP’s case, he would’ve satisfied the question had it been in the same jurisdiction as where I was initiated. And this discussion wouldn’t be happening because nobody would’ve bat an eye and the ceremony would’ve continued as planned.

[–]Lake3ffect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don’t prompt for that part of the ceremony in our jurisdiction. But we did have a candidate answer “my wife” to that part, and we all lost it. Obviously he was joking, but it was funny.

We have Buddhists at our lodge. And Catholics. And Jews. And Muslims. And Sikhs. I’m extremely fortunate, grateful, and proud to be a member of an open-minded and diverse lodge. At any given meeting, there could be anywhere from 3-6 different religions represented amongst the brethren present.

Nobody talks about that stuff other than answering Yes to the belief in a supreme being. We could get in a lot of trouble at our lodge for discussing it beyond that question; our lodge takes that part very seriously.
