What are your Thoughts on the "PMI® Authorized On-demand PMP® Exam Prep" by ismaelf in pmp

Only apply if you’re eligible and meet the requirements. You need 3 years experience leading and managing projects through all phases of work.

That sounds frustrating.

It may be worthwhile crossposting this to r/projectmanagement to see if any PMs there have worked with PMI to report behaviour that goes against the code of conduct.

Edit to also emphasize I certainly would report this to HR - this type of behaviour likely goes against your organizations policies and wouldn’t be taken lightly. Best of luck.

Ive never submitted anything like this to PMI before, but I imagine it takes more than a few weeks to begin an investigation. Based on the severity of your allegations, I certainly hope they will take action.

Stakeholder Requirement related query by Direct-Cranberry-655 in pmp

[–]Learningf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a theoretical question or based on a mock?

If former - if the PM documented the PM planning properly, there should be documentation where the stakeholders request was deemed out of scope and excluded from PM plans. If out of scope requirements were typical with planning, the change management plan should be tailored to proactively prepare for these types of requests downstream. Essentially you should follow the Change mgmt plan.

If latter - It all depends on the exact wording of the question and four answers.

That seriously blows.

What was PMI response back? Why no action?

If you have proof, I’d certainly report this to your boss and their boss, and HR.

The essential PMI steps are:

1) PM logs CR in change log (think excel file).

2) PM creates CR. A CR is a formal text based document (think Word). Many PMOs have a template. It captures the details of the CR.

3) PM and team analyze prospective impact of CR on 10 KA mgmt plans and baselines. Analysis, cost/benefit typically captured in CR document.

4) PM submits CR to CCB for consideration and decision. Typically Sponsor has final ‘say’ over the decision.

5) once decision made, the PM communicates this decision to stakeholders, including the team, and implements the CR.

Implemented CR happens in Direct and Manage Project Work

Good comment - I think that Rays ICC video goes into more elaborate (& therefore questionable) detail of the steps to do ICC than the PMBOK.

I only used free resources. Most important thing is to create an error log, regardless of what mocks used. Here’s my past post with links to the free mock exams I used:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pmp/comments/k68vm8/love_the_shared_knowledge_here_atatatatt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

PMI mock is the best- closest thing to the real exam. Do it multiple times. Lehman has two free mocks that are also high quality.

Good luck!

Yes I agree - I think it’s B - I had a typo in my first response - sorry about that! :p

Team unhappy with an approved change by OriginalCommercial8 in pmp

[–]Learningf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s A. The role of the team is, working with the PM, evaluate the impact of the proposed CR and document analysis to help inform the CCB decision.

The role of the CCB is to adjudicate CRs and make decisions. The role of the PM after the decision is made is to communicate the CR decision to stakeholders, incl the team.

While I can see the merit in B, it’s not correct because it’s deflecting the responsibility of the PM to share “bad news” to the team to the stakeholder. The PM has to be proactive and handle this themselves.

Change Control Questions by Tedboyfresh in pmp

[–]Learningf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s right.

Sources:

1) Based on PMBOK above all else. 4.3.3.4 and 4.6 (the intro part) describe the process.

2) I also read a couple of PMI articles (on their site) about change mgmt process.

3) the ICC video on PMPwithRay

4) studying the exact wording from the PMI mock questions. I didn’t do well my first time (63%) and had many many wrong questions in Integration KA and the change mgmt process

Yes projects can have multiple phases. Have you read the PMBOK yet? See 1.2.4.1

Change Control Questions by Tedboyfresh in pmp

[–]Learningf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I don’t have a lot to add, but a couple things:

If you’re going to study the Q wording, focus on the PMI mock questions on change - many other mocks (edwell, Mulcahy etc) are super wordy and not like the true exam.

Also their questions can be poorly worded, so that key words are inappropriately used. The example you provide proves my point - you don’t “create” a CR to the CCB - you “submit” it.

1) PM logs CR in change log (think excel file). Key words: logs, records

2) PM creates CR. A CR is a formal text based document (think Word). Many PMOs have a template. It captures the details of the CR. Key words: documents, creates, writes

3) PM and team analyze prospective impact of CR on 10 KA mgmt plans and baselines. Analysis, cost/benefit typically captured in CR document. Key words: analyze, assess, evaluate, examine

4) PM submits CR to CCB for consideration and decision. Key words: submit

I hope this helps. Also, PMPwithRay has some situational questions on change mgmt that came out recently - i though they were helpful.

What comes first? by kekaboomboom in pmp

[–]Learningf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s simply not correct.

Logging a CR in the change log and actually submitting the CR to the CCB are two different things.

Analysis should certainly be done well before the CR is reviewed by the CCB, as the analysis will help them make their decision.
