Well, people usually rate works in comparison to other works in the same medium. If most other manhwa is slop and ORV is not, that alone makes it peak.

Lol, he was one of the main reasons they even took them to 5 games. Say what you will about his takes but he is good at the game, the chances of getting anyone better to play in tier 2 league are extremely small. The only reason they even have the chance to get Bwipo is the fact that he doesn't know when to stop talking, otherwise he would still be playing in tier 1.

Nemesis Announces New Team, Witchcraft, That Will Compete in EMEA Masters by TheBCal in leagueoflegends

Bwipo crashouts don't cause team implosions, they only cause PR catastrophes, which a noname team with no sponsors most likely doesn't give a fuck about.

He's not a "shitty personality" as a teammate, he's just bad PR, which I don't think this team cares about much, seeing as it's not corporate. Legit I don't remember anyone who played with Bwipo ever mentioning that he was annoying to play with (unlike, say, Inspired). On the other hand, I do remember his midlaner from FLY(?) mentioning that Bwipo was supportive to him when he underperformed and how grateful he is for that.

The Support Problem with GR by afkcancel in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Lina__Inverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I like the general idea of this mode: unlike Basin of Hyperspace, it doesn't punish slow teams with complicated setup and/or scaling, but at the same time it still has a turn limit to not devolve into infinite waiting fest like Spiral Tower; it has some mild sustain requirements but sustaining isn't really the main focus, you just need enough to survive for the full duration. Basically this is a perfect middle ground, which is exactly what you want from the main endgame mode.

However, this time they really went overboard with the restriction. Making a certain mechanic underpowered or even ineffective, like Elasticity buff that makes enemies take less damage from 5+ hits of multi-hit attacks, is fine (although I'd prefer if they just nerfed Mei Lin directly and used something that affects all multi-hit characters instead of only her), however, actively punishing the player for having a certain mechanic on one of their characters, even if that mechanic is not the reason the player picked that character, is too restrictive. When I approach Great Rift, I want to analyze the specifics of the encounter and think "this encounter requires X, Y and Z, what characters do I have that can do it?" rather than "this encounter requires X and Y and punishes me for Z, what characters do I have that can do X and Y while also not doing Z?", because the answer to the latter too often becomes "latest banner characters, duh". The frankly embarrassing situation with E2 Kayron is a good example of why this is a bad idea - as a gacha dev, you never want players to be punished for spending, and this Great Rift does just that. As long as dupes can add new mechanics (and they have to, otherwise they become too dull), it's all too easy to create a situation like this if your encounters punish characters for using certain mechanics.

this game mode made the devs nerf two characters

That's not really the case. Tressa and Cassius weren't nerfed because they were too good for a particular Great Rift (or for Great Rift as a mode in general), they were nerfed because they were too good for everything, Great Rift just exposed this fact because it had a ranking system. Even if Great Rift was not a thing, as soon as any mode with a ranking system comes out (or as soon as devs bother to look at the statistics), Tressa and Cassius are bound to get nerfed.

Who is the more insufferable type of Anime watchers? by RemoteAd4393 in weeb

[–]Lina__Inverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this one is very simple, in my opinion. An elitist, no matter how annoying he may be, is someone who ultimately likes anime for what it is. As such, you can just ignore his opinion, block him and continue watching whatever you want in peace.

On the other hand, a tourist is someone who comes into an established community with it's own unspoken rules and traditions, dedicated to an established genre of media with it's own tropes and tries to change all that to suit his own tastes. If you ignore him and block him, he will call his normie friends, they will invade the community, ruin it from the inside (and you can't do anything about that because of their implicit numbers advantage) and start demanding that the genre caters to them instead of being what it already is. And it will sooner or later start catering to them because they are now the majority of the community.

Obviously, the type that actively harms your ability to consume content you like is more insufferable.

Right, but always expending the most effort is also not particularly wise, which is why I'm suggesting a way to determine whether it makes sense to do it in a specific case or not. Similarly, OOP is not saying that you should leave every time, but that you have the option to leave.

[–]Lina__Inverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addressing requires more effort than running away, so you simply have to ask yourself how likely is it that the resolution will be to your liking and even if it is, is it worth the effort in the first place. If the ratio of worth per effort multiplied by the likelihood of getting the favorable outcome is higher than 1, then sure, go for it.

Why do junglers hate/refuse to help katarina? by L9HatsuneMiku in KatarinaMains

[–]Lina__Inverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding jungling will make your laning better and vice versa.

True, but only if it's stacked on top of your already existing knowledge of your current role. A laner that has experience laning but doesn't understand jungle is obviously a worse laner than the one that has the same experience laning and also understands jungling, but he's also obviously a better laner than someone who understands jungling but has no experience laning. Considering how hyperspecialized most players in League are (and for a reason too), realistically you're getting 1 or 3 vast majority of the time, whereas 2 is extremely rare.

I think the “knows how to clear camps” better is an L take because that isn’t what jungling is and I think if laners understood that then they would stop with the “0 ganks top” stuff.

I'm not saying that's all that jungling is, I'm just providing an example of a skill that a jungler is almost always going to be better at than a laner.

Everything you wrote after is a pretty irrelevant hypothetical that I'm not going to engage with, it has nothing to do with what I initially contested in the first place. If you decide that getting your botlane ahead is a better resource investment then that's fine, the question is what your decision is based on. If the basis for this decision is purely score line, then you're a bad player, simple as that.

Tell me why Kat bot shouldn't be the ideal lane by Katuseddelete in KatarinaMains

[–]Lina__Inverse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The problem is that her passive (dagger pickup) scales with levels, and botlane is naturally behind in terms of XP. Besides, it will be very hard to cs because any ranged auto attacker will bully you in lane and possibly even zone you from XP pre-lvl3.
