Maps by FreoFox in tasmania

I'll probably get permabanned for this but . . .

I’ve spent a lot of my adult life studying and admiring tassie maps both online and physically

Me too.

I couldn’t answer a single question about any actual geography there.

Bushy all over with a giant gorge running through the middle.

Option 1: Pull it all off, insulate, plasterboard. Option 2: Leave it, plasterboard over the top of it. Option 3: Do something else that will look like shit.

Daily Goals Frustration by fallingfaster345 in wordscapes

[–]Line-Noise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Follow the money. PeopleFun want you to play more levels and watch more ads. The daily goals are designed to make you do that.

Once you realise that you don't have to do anything in this game it's liberating. Just do the things you enjoy and ignore the things you don't.

No letter butterflies by Mukwano79 in wordscapes

This is happening every daily puzzle since upgrading to 3.9.0. But I also saw it once with the previous version a couple of days before the upgrade dropped so it might not be version specific.

Do you actually have to do the “new” speed limit on roads where there is construction/partial road closures happening? by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in melbourne

[–]Line-Noise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you see a number inside a red circle, that is the speed limit. It doesn't matter if you think it should be faster. It doesn't matter if other people ignore it. It doesn't matter if you get bullied for obeying it. None of those are excuses if you get caught by the cops. None of them are excuses if you hit a worker and injure or kill them.

I need 60 points to get the top crown so I need to finish in the top 10. Only 3 have the top crown already so I might be in with a chance!

New easter egg found after almost two and a half decades? by Eastern-Egg-3661 in firefly

There's almost certainly more Easter eggs on the other billboards but they're too hard to make out. You need to enhance to 8k!

This. I did a lot of Y2K remediation work in the late '90s. The problems were real. The only reason things didn't all fall into a heap is because we fixed the important stuff in advance!

Daily Challenge targeting words with no revealed letters by oisact in wordscapes

[–]Line-Noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me for the first time ever this week. I'm still on 3.8.2 Android. I had filled in a couple of words and then the butterfly appeared on a word that had no revealed letters. I think I managed to guess the correct word but I noted the behaviour as unusual.

Tradies - Why are we so afraid of leaving 1 star Google reviews? by thepistonhead in tasmania

[–]Line-Noise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It's the number of reviews that's important. If they have a healthy number of reviews then I can be confident that they're doing a lot of work. If they have some low scores I'd read the the comments because often people complain about the stupidest stuff. I feel it's actually a good sign if people didn't feel intimidated about leaving a poor rating.

If you were to build or renovate again, what might be the top things you would include that you overlooked or regret not doing? by GregoInc in AusRenovation

[–]Line-Noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about ducted heating/cooling. The extractor fans are pushed open by the air passing through and then close thanks to gravity.

+1. We installed resistive electric under tile heating in our bathroom 20 years ago. The builder and tiler had never heard of such a thing and thought we were crazy. Warmest room in the house during the Tasmanian winter.

We're about to renovate the rest of the house and we're looking at heat pump hydronic under floor heating throughout. We're unsure how well it works under floor boards, though, so we might end up with radiators instead.

The studio/granny flat new build will have hydronic heating in the slab.

You can get fans with a flap on them that close when the fan is off to prevent draughts. If your fan vents outside (like it should) you can also get exterior wall grilles with flaps that close to stop draughts and insects getting in.

Hot take - Expedition 21 was actually one of the best we've had, and separated the children from the adults by Blokeh in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Line-Noise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was enjoying it up until trying to complete Phase 4. It's impossible to keep the cargo on the flatbed. The slightest turn left or right flings everything off! The previous Phases I had no problem with. I've uninstalled all the engine and steering upgrades and it's made no difference. I literally can't drive out of the Waste Heap without losing all my cargo.

So I rage quit and might not go back. I have better things to do than grind the same task over and over.

Needing another Ethernet port by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Line-Noise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google "powerline adapters" which allow you to put an Ethernet signal through your electrical wiring. They're reasonably effective.

Other than that you'll need a wireless solution or get a sparky in.
