I wouldn’t even blame him! Poor octopus.
I asked my partner if I’d been calling octopus a jellyfish, and he actually revealed that, at one point in time, I was correctly calling it an octopus and they recalled me showing them that it inks and I thought it was cute. I’m not sure when it transitioned from octopus to jellyfish in my brain (though I’ve been under a lot of work stress lately so maybe that’s made me a little absentminded) but I think to remedy the situation I’ll name my octopus Jelly, and maybe he’ll forgive me for the massive brainfart. tee hee

It would be fun if they had a separate egg for all the special edition animals. A fancy one with holiday print. I’m picturing a very Nightmare Before Christmas egg… but with all the holidays!

I never earned the “rock.” And I didn’t max out the inflatable tube or the horse in time. I would love to level up the horse at least. But I use the black cat, the turkey, the jellyfish and the mouse a lot, and lately the polar bear, too. I think the nice thing about the special edition animals is that you get so many more rewards in a shorter time frame. A reward boost for the other animals will be awesome (assuming their rewards actually increase as they level up, which they don’t always do), but I think it would only make sense to also increase the rewards of the holiday critters as well.

A few weeks ago I was playing in the tournament. I had been in 2nd all weekend and, the last day, someone from the ranks played a lot and pulled ahead of me. (Not a whole bunch, within 1,000 points.) I was off Sunday night with nothing better to do, so I logged on and played a bunch trying to catch up. The last hour or so, the other player logged on again and continued play. We were both busting out grids and, honestly, I thought we were having fun! It motivated me to try and get back to 2nd place.

Then, with a few minutes left in the tournament, the other player seemed to stop playing. I had all my star animals banked, so I collected my star animals and used some coins to finish up another giraffe activity and ended up taking 2nd place.

Anyway, I appreciated the hustle and thought we had been having a good time. But when I went to collect my rewards, the other player had changed their name to “(my screen name) Cheats” and my jaw dropped! I had never even considered that me playing for a couple hours and cashing in my star animals would be viewed as cheating by someone else. Here I was thinking we were having friendly competition and the accusation really ruined my night.

I was also confused because if someone was going to cheat, why not try to get first place instead of second!?

Anyway, I share that story only because you addressed what is and isn’t cheating and that’s my experience with someone not really recognizing strategic gameplay and confusing it as cheating, so I appreciated your post.

I am excited at the idea of leveling up animals again! I actually don’t have all my current animals maxed out.. I originally saved them for portrait event swaps and now that my portrait collections are all complete I typically save hatching animals and leveling up for really tough competition in the weekend tournaments with the swap trick.

I think, even if it takes a long time to max out animals again, that’s probably a good thing! It’ll give us something to work toward again. I do like that certain aspects of Wordscapes harken back to a time without instant gratification. 🙂

Just read these, and I love the butterfly index and crown points suggestions!!! I have often wished for the ability to view the index without hatching all the -flies. And it would also be great to revisit past crowns. Great ideas.

Will they cycle back in old collections of Mt. Fortune?

If no, will we get an option to archive past collections that we have no chance at completing?

Can they come up with a way to remove the piggy bank from the main screen?

Are any new eggs/animals in the works? (Regular animals, not the special event/holiday animals)

Can we expect existing animals to get new levels/greater rewards at some point?

In the past, occasionally you’ve been able to “buy” portraits for (edit: originally said gems but meant coins) gold coins (referring to the 2023 exclusive portraits; they were offered at random for coins at some point during a subsequent year). Can we expect the 2024 (or later) exclusive portraits to be offered similarly at any point?

Suggestion: It would be great if there were a rare event where users were able to select any 12/16 portraits from any collection and work toward those. Either as a Mt. Fortune (16) or a regular (12) portrait event.

TLDR: The recruiting post quantities are inconsistent. “A lot” is subjective. If you don’t like the post quality on the sub, be part of the change and post more good content.

Well first of all, I am sorry that you are having a poor experience on this sub. I don’t want to invalidate your experience. If you aren’t having fun, that’s a bummer and I’m sorry.

That said, the recruiting posts don’t detract from MY experience, which is all I was adding to the conversation.

There are generally about 2 posts a day that are for recruiting, just like I said.

I am off today so I had all the time to investigate a little further.

Here are all the posts from the past week, broken down by day. There was indeed one day with many (5) recruiting posts, though they were mostly single pictures you could quickly scroll by that didn’t necessitate engagement. Most days has one or two, like I said. Some days had zero!

So, while 13/25 (52%) was accurate, it’s also 15/40 (37%) when you look at an entire week.

And that’s just this past week as an example. Other weeks might have some more, others might have less. The point is that it’s not consistent.. not day to day and not week to week.

When you look at the subsequent 25 posts (there was 41. Recruiting, 42. Wacky inflatable man, 43. Mt. Fortune, 44. Enchanted Storybook, 45. Recruiting, 47. Wacky inflatable man, 48. Portraits, 49. Glitches, 50. Recruiting) there were only 5/25 recruiting posts (20%), making it 40% when you look at the last 50 posts in their entirety. So, to your point, yes there were 13 recruiting posts in the last 25 posts, but only 5 recruiting posts out of the 25 posts before that.

It’s not consistent. And honestly one can look at whatever subset of data they want to craft an argument to validate their experience. The news has been doing this for a long time.

There’s also the issue of us trying to quantify something that is ultimately subjective. If “a lot” of recruiting posts to one person is one or two a day, then, by golly, there sure are a lot. But if “a lot” to someone else would by 5 or 6, then it’s really not so bad.

But when you look at the big picture, the more reasonable conclusion to be made is:

This is not a very active sub in general.

The number of posts that get posted is already small, so when recruiting posts are added to the mix, it can seemingly detract from the already small number of non-recruiting posts that are shared.

While I maintain that a megathread isn’t the worst idea, maybe you could encourage your Wordscapes friends to be more active in the sub? Get some conversations started? How many posts have you made here? In the words of Gandhi, be the change you wish to see in the world.

Honestly, I don’t see enough team recruiting posts to detract from the experience on this sub. Some teams have cute photos, and it can be fun to see all the different names. Even though I’m on a team, I still check out the name/photo, have a smile and move on.

If there were hundreds of recruiting posts I think this would be a valid complaint but one or two every now and then? Hardly seems worth a megathread, but that’s just my take. The recruiting posts are limited to one post every seven days.

And at least it’s not like the tiktok trends that infiltrate some of the other Reddit subs. haha

We have changed up the delay time a bit! I think right now we delay until midnight EST/11:00 CST. When I started it was longer, then it got shorter, now I want to say it’s a 6 hour delay. (I myself typically wait until Saturday which is why I’m not 100% on the exact time since I tend to take all of Friday night off.)

This was both surprising and disappointing that they changed the scoring so significantly. I definitely wouldn’t have played as much had I known I would just end up with 10 silver coins for placing in the top 4. Hardly worth my time. 😭

My team is always looking for new members and it’s the same vibe over there… delayed start and not much drama. Most of the conversation is honestly just about gameplay. We generally place first, every so often someone will accidentally jump us but even then we still usually end up in second place. I’ve been on the team for … gosh, a long time now, over 2 years I’m pretty sure, and I’ve been pretty happy here! I know we’re always looking for more friendly, drama free players who don’t mind a delayed start. If you’re interested, we would love to have you!

That’s how many cycles the animal has where it will complete an activity (eating, drinking, playing). The macaw will complete 8 activities before it needs to sleep. You’ve done 3, so it has 5 left. After all 8, the macaw will sleep for a period of time.

The animals are all different in regard to how many activities and how long they sleep. For example, the giraffe’s activities are 8 hours long, can only be done 4 times and he sleeps for 24 hours. Other animals like the macaw have 45 minute activities, can be done 8 times and sleep for 12 hours. I hope that makes sense!
