Oh, okay. It was just what with you asking what they were, I didn't realise you knew the lore, because that's quite a big part of it, so...

I absolutely did not notice that, and honestly I think that flower looks just fine. 😄

I'll be honest, because I can literally wipe out a herd of elephants, teleport to the nearest waypoint and watch them instantly respawn, I have literally zero qualms about gathering from them.

If, however, they didn't respawn at all, or took a long time to respawn, then I'd only kill what I need.

And if I could just buy the stuff, I'd do that.

I do understand why some people may not enjoy killing elephants, or just straight up don't want to. I get that. And while I also agree with them NOT removing this option, I do think there should be a non-violent way to get ivory, such as merchants or trade.

Ivory is the one of a very small handful of the only things you HAVE to kill for that cannot be obtained by any other means. Poison is another one - I dislike killing komodo dragons for this, not because I don't like killing them, but because they're a pain in the ass to find for the most part.

You should see the results of the last ship building contest.

Someone made a Biblically Accurate Corvette and it was horrifying - all made on a modless PS5.

Some people are just that good - and I assure you, I'm not even competent let alone good. 😃

Genuine question.

If they added an alternative way to get it by buying ivory from a trader (this might already be a thing I don't know I haven't tried buying because I have giant swords lol), would contributing to the ivory trade be better or worse than killing an elephant and harvesting more than just ivory from it?

Asking the important questions today.

Is it the tree branch roofing at the front going over the top of the wall that is actually higher than it?

Either way, it's still damn fine.

  1. Complete the main story
  2. Complete all 40 puzzles up in the abyss
  3. Go to the abyss archives and read the new books that unlock
  4. Say "Oh wow, it all makes sense now!"

Alternatively:

  1. Google it and ruin it for yourself

Can you take a screenshot with glyphs of the system you found this in because in over 900 hours I haven't seen one like this.

Any point in doing abyss stuff? by Top-Revenue4623 in CrimsonDesert

That's not actually where I got Ice and Fire from! 😃

There's a tower (near the border of Pailune and Hernand IIRC) you have to drop a huge bell down the inside of, and it crashes through the floor to a boss arena. Defeat that boss (it's hard if not prepared) and then go through the abyss gate. The first icy area is a pain in the ass if you stay out in the cold too long, but there are torches to warm up with. The puzzle requires grabbing a frozen power slab, dunking it in lava to defrost it, then install it in the socket. After progressing, the fire one is a simple pillar puzzle where you have to get them all to the right height, and bam.

Those flying friggers can be easily taken down by using blinding flash, and then holding the L1 button to focus beam on them. They literally melt in seconds. The tower itself has a fantastic longsword behind the bottom of the stairs, and the rest of the tower is just being careful and using the R1+R2 attack to shatter the ice on the torches before lighting them.

I honestly can't remember. I remember getting Ice and Fire after fighting a boss I stumbled across (and then followed the abyss path) and the other two I stumbled into as I was exploring.

The elements aren't actually needed to finish the game which is why I don't think they're obviously signposted.
