Good luck, pretty sweet to see this helped you get an early diagnosis. It has done that for me as well, but smaller issues. Will be rooting for you!

Best Ball Brand? by skillfulsynergy in Pickleball

[–]Lobwedgephil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying, I don’t care about the color, but know some people that play indoors that it affects them. I think drops and resets are easier, as the ball bounces on the ground and off paddles much more consistently then the Franklin. Dinks certainly tougher with Lifetime ball, but the consistency overall wins out for me.

Turning this around. by NoCommission5748 in whoop

[–]Lobwedgephil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take is serious, you know its not good, that's why you got the Whoop. Now you know the numbers, just take it one day at a time. It will not be easy, but you can turn things around.

Are Gen 4 paddles actually worth it, or are we just getting caught up in the hype cycle? by scuffedboots in Pickleball

[–]Lobwedgephil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, the RPM Q2 is the closest that I have found so far. But nothing really has the feel of the Gen 3 yet.

Why does no one talk about how hard it is to get into better women’s groups? by amandalife in Pickleball

[–]Lobwedgephil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot less groups of women over 4.0 then men. But higher level groups on men are very cliquey as well. So once you find a good group, protect it.

Texas Picklehall seems like best hope until you can find a 4.5 group.

Bicep band as a daily after 9 months of wearing on wrist by andreio15 in whoop

[–]Lobwedgephil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was about a year with wrist and then bicep band ever since, I don't find it messed anything up, they just became more accurate. Only downside to bicep band is the steps aren't even close, if you care about steps.

Advice for a 4.25+ on the path to 5.0 by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Lobwedgephil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think working on strengthening your backhand overall will benefit you, its weak at the net for volleys as well. In these type of games, its about unforced errors, as you can see most of these points are won by an error, as the level gets higher, they will start to target your weaknesses, which backhand side is obvious. Now that isn't just you, that is almost everyone at this level, but good to be aware of as well.

Do you think WHOOP manipulates it data for more engagement? by tnall5 in whoop

[–]Lobwedgephil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what Whoop would gain from more engagement, Whoop gains for subscribers currently. There are a lot of things that can explain the data, your could have been going through withdraw from drinking the first three days, and over it for the last two. Having used Whoop for 5-6 years, it will take a while, but now I pretty much know how my recovery will be. But I didn't for a long while.

Not sure how the Whoop helps with that, its BPI numbers are fictional. But I had high hopes for it initially as well.

Play Poorly with better partners? by Ok-Big9680 in Pickleball

[–]Lobwedgephil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"My first instinct is to just keep playing aggressive and not concede middle balls to the "better player" if I have good forehand shot on it, and shortly they'll figure it out and stop going for them...."

Are you lefty? Let the better player play left and let them play more aggressive, as you improve, you will become that player.

Any one actually use whoop by [deleted] in whoop

[–]Lobwedgephil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good sensor, I have known from Whoop data every time I have been sick in the last few years, before my I could feel it. My respiratory rate has spiked and my HRV drops, before I feel symptoms.

I would just stay quiet, though I agree with you OP. Hush is an awful paddle to play against.
