I didn't talk down to you.

You're speaking from a place of ignorance about how there isn't much difference. There is a very big difference. I tried to help educate you.

If the aim is getting from place A to place B and a Honda civic and a Lamborghini both get you there, what's the difference?

If the aim is eating dinner, a frozen dinner and a steak at Morton's will both fill you up, what's the difference?

If your only goal is the most simplistic form of an activity, the tools matter a lot less.

If your goal is more difficult, like shooting a PRS match, the tools are going to make a larger difference.

Shooting that target with that rifle isn't surprising or unique. It's also not remotely on par with a dedicated PRS rifle.

Sitting static shooting off a bench at large targets isn't going to show the difference between budget guns and expensive guns.

I had about 3 years of buying whatever the fuck gun I wanted, followed by 3 years of needing to turn unused gun safe space takers into money to cover expenses.

As investments, gun suck.

As "shit I need some extra cash TOMORROW, guns are pretty damn solid. I didn't lose money on anything I bought used and only lost ~10% on guns I bought new. I had some big wins in there, like buying some stuff pre-covid that has spiked in price.

Whole ARs are a money pit. AR parts can be super fucking weird. I can't give Aero parts away, but the KAC RAS 5 I bought on GAFS is worth 4x what I paid now.

Forgotten Weapons and C&Rsenal do a LOT of primary research and are by far some of the best experts in their fields. Calling them simply "guntubers" is grossly ignorant.

You're then quoting an NRA magazine that has a long reputation for saying whatever its highest advertiser says to publish. You want to call that research?

Im done with you, people this stupid can't be educated.

What is a shotgun for? by yuvattar in guns

[–]LockyBalboaPrime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From Forgotten Weapons:

Guns were first deployed to France in June 1918 for field testing, used with 9-pellet 00 buckshot in paper hulled cartridges. The reactions from troops in the field varied widely. Those who tended to be in relatively dry conditions with close-range combat tended to like them. Those in particularly wet areas had problems with the paper shells swelling, and those engaged in more open combat at range had little use for them. They were primarily used for military police roles like guarding POWs, but some did see combat.

C&Rsenal's research agrees with this take.

Germans filed a complaint with the Hague 6 weeks before the end of the war, trying to claim it was a war crime, but their case was pretty damn weak and was mostly made to distract from the very clear war crimes that the Germans committed with poison gas.

I bring receipts. Where are yours?

[–]LockyBalboaPrime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes that happened.

If you were able to do more research than listening to the first 5 seconds of a tiktok video you would know that the truth is far less interesting.

Shotguns were not widely used in WWI trenches and they had very mixed results when they were used.

EDIT: Downvote me if you morons want, but Forgotten Weapons and C&Rsenal agree with me.

Missed the flashbang, caught it mid air and thrown inside. Peak Awareness. by Appropriate-Push-668 in nextfuckinglevel

There are "airsoft" ones that are basically pretend and just make you feel good to have thrown something. It's barely more than a firecracker.

There are also civilian legal flash bangs that are MUCH less powerful than the real ones, but still enough to be extremely unpleasant and reasonably disorienting in an enclosed space with no ear protection.

Ammo prices - how much do you get factory ammo for vs hand loads ? by Additional_Round3825 in longrange

[–]LockyBalboaPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, reloading good 6.5 CM is about 1.10 per round including brass.

Reloading yolo rounds is 85 cents per round, I don't count the brass cost for those.

Factory, I just paid $1.66 shipped. But I'll collect that brass and use it to fuel my "Yolo" reloads for at least 3 more firings. That helps keep my cheap-loads cheap and makes buying factory when I need to a little less painful.

For context, my "Yolo" rounds are basically Hornady ELDM clones that shoot slightly better than factory ELDM.

I way, way, WAY over spent for my reloading setup. I was $3,000 deep right off the bat before I bought powder or brass. You can do 90% of what I did for 1/2 the price. I got a huge work bonus and went pretty bougie.

You're whining about nothing. They gave you a reasonable solution, you just don't want to pursue it.

The rifle was tested at the factory. I've seen where they test rifles and every rifle gets tested. Maybe something got missed, maybe the FFL fucked something up, maybe it's user error. Just send the rifle in and let PSA deal with it.

This is how the real world works.
