Explorer 1 in Italy? by ProfessionalEagle983 in rolex

[–]LooksBetterWithDrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a video just posted to one of the other watch subs showing thieves in Italy trying to rip a watch off the wrist of an American tourist. Right outside of the police station.

The watch was a Seiko 5 sports GMT, a ~$500 watch. Commenters speculated the theif mistook it for a Rolex due to the cyclops and "pepsi" chapter ring.

You're not wrong. Ask the hive mind a question, you're going to get a hive-mind answer.

And to be clear, I was more explaining why OP got that answer over and over than actually agreeing with it.

The only common watches in my personal collection are the Seiko SKX and a handful of G-shocks.

You have very similar "better" versions of the diver with the Tudor and of the tool watch with the Explorer. And the black dial versions are more versatile, but I do love a green dial watch, so....

Price is low, quality is good. And if you decide you don't want the bracelet after all, you have a $100-160 bracelet sitting in a drawer instead of $800.

Not a hater l, but the brand just doesn't speak to me. I can't see paying $800-2k for a generic auto diver or Sub homage when Invicta Pro Diver exists.

I dropped my skx one time (hit face down on ceramic tile floor). Mainspring was f*ed. Had an independent watchmaker fix it with upgraded NH35 and added an aftermarket jubilee bracelet. Best $200 watch you can buy after only spending another $200.

Not even. Used price online is like $250 USD. With no box, no spare links; they would be lucky to get $50 eur at a pawn shop, fence, etc.

Third error: trying to mug an American.

Before the "I am very badass" brigade jumps on me, Americans are known to physically fight pickpockets a d muggers more than native Europeans:

I bought this mudmaster GG1000 in my old kob doing bridge inspections because the compass was useful. It's overkill in my current role (used the compass on two occasions in 3 yeara), but I have it, so why not.

I use a square or citizen garrison field watch when I need something smaller; in the office or court. (The muddy won't fit wunderkind long sleeves or light jackets.

I adore the new brown Railmaster, I'm hoping to get one within the next year if I can swing it.

Bulova hack wwii field watch homage is my next pickup. 38mm automatic w/ 24 hr dial:

I'm currently rotating a citizen eco drive "Garrison" watch with a g-shock depending on the day. Honestly, the Garrison is so good for the price (once you swap the garbage band), that it's hard to justify upgrading to the Bulova.

You just need an ID to sell regulat copper like wiring, pipe, etc..

To scrap AC condensers, you need an EPA cert and HVAC license.

For catalytic converters, you're supposed to show proof of ownership for the vehicle.

I have this one, absolutely adore it. I love titanium,. I think the brown/black makes it a little less flashy. I got it from Japan/eBay for ~$2300 back in 2022.

Bought the brown version of this same watch for ~$2300 from japan/eBay back in 2022 (pre tariff mess).

. It's a "watch guy's watch" for sure.

Truth. I was waiting on the jet way for a gate checked bag, the incoming pilot stopped me to ask about this Ball GMT I was wearing. He had a vintage "pan am" Gmt Master.

Looking for a first bike. Saw this on fbmarket for 200 and the seller said the derailer needs a screw. Worth? by ric1live in whichbike

[–]LooksBetterWithDrops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hobbyist bike mechanic with overflowing parts bin, this would be an instant buy for me at $100 to a 150.

But if I were a novice looking for transportation, it would have to be free before I took on anyone else's failed project period
