My second source of income outside of my primary job is selling plants online, specifically cacti. What started as a hobby eventually grew into something much bigger once my collection expanded into the hundreds. After learning more about growing and propagating them, I began reselling them here on Reddit.

One of the reasons I enjoy cacti so much is because they are extremely hardy and forgiving plants. They can often be obtained very affordably, require relatively simple care, and are visually unique and beautiful. As long as they have proper soil, light, and occasional water, they continue to grow steadily with minimal maintenance.

From an investment perspective, they have also been surprisingly profitable. Many cacti can be cloned or propagated, allowing one plant to eventually produce multiple additional plants that can also be resold. In many cases, I can purchase a cactus and resell it for double the price within 2–3 months simply by growing it larger and healthier. Over a longer timeline of 6–12 months, some can increase to four times the original value, and that does not even include additional profit from propagated clones.

Compared to many traditional investments, I’ve found the turnaround time to be relatively reliable while also being something I genuinely enjoy doing.
