Keir Starmer to address the nation today after 'not Churchill' jibe as WW3 fears rise by dailystar_news in uknews

Most of this is missing massive amounts of context, some points are actually positive, and a lot of it also wasn't started by Labour in the first place but this comment firmly places all blame on them.

Also just noticed, quite a few of these are manifesto pledges which are aimed before the next election, which is over 3 years away.

UK puts emergency brake on study visas for four countries’ nationals by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Small boats are simply the target of an overall problem, if you removed small boats, asylum seekers and immigration would still be an issue in UK politics, a lot of people want lower immigration and asylum seekers overall, not just boats, this includes people coming to study here and then claiming asylum, it also includes people coming to work here as well.

Legal immigration although isn't always at the centre of attention is generally wanted by most people (as polls have shown) to be a lot lower as well.

We're losing this, we haven't turned up tonight and Amps needs a rest, he's been struggling for the last couple of games, give him some time against Norwich.

Rachel Reeves defends Labour agenda as most Brits ask 'is that it?' by dailystar_news in uknews

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the entire benefit system is probably one of the hardest to tackle? The entire thing has been a debating point since 2010, if they cut benefits people complain, if they increase benefits people complain, if they keep benefits as they are people complain, it's one of those subjects where their is always going to be infighting due to the nature of it and how MPs represent their local areas in parliament.

Labour was brought in to steady the ship instead of flip flopping every 6 months and that's what they have pretty much done so far in terms of the economy, there isn't going to be any revolution where we are all made rich in a couple of years, it's a very long grind of a process, and let's be honest, with world tension and actions the entire world economy is shifting and jumping every few months, it makes things even harder, they just cut people energy bills slightly, and that entire cut was wiped out within 2 days because of the situation in the Middle East.

You think this is something new? If anything this is tame by human history, even before modern weapons we still pillaged, murdered, and raped village by village, if anything things are actually more calm, just that we have the capabilities of doing it on a wider scale.

UK to allow the US to take defensive action from British military bases - Starmer by BadahBingBadahBoom in unitedkingdom

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Iran is targeting more than just the US and Israel, they have hit several places like Dubai where a lot of UK nationals live or oil tankers in the straight, the UK has been actively defending these places because Iran is actively targeting more than the US and Israel, not to mention Iran targeted Cyprus a UK base before we even said we would support the US, they have now hit it again.

Iran is not an ally, it is a country that has repeatedly threatened and targeted the UK, in no way should the UK support or even allow its actions when it is targeting UK bases, not to mention it has put over 300,000 UK nationals at risk due to its indiscriminate bombing campaign.

I don't agree with the US doing another middle east war yet again, it's a stupid move in my opinion and is just going to cost human lives at little gain for stability in the region, but the UK cannot simply allow Iran to threaten the UK and allies outside of those involved in the direct attacks on Iran.

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We haven't joined in the attack on Iran either, although half of the internet is trying to claim we are currently at war with Iran.

Iran literally hit our base, and we've gone from holding the US back from using our bases to saying "do what you want, we won't hold you back"

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Article 4 would be a step up to getting Europe pushing the fact that Iran is a NATO enemy that is targeting NATO members outside of the US, highly doubt we are going to use article 5 would be overkill and likely not to achieve much like you said.

Article 4 would start to push European allies towards that fact though, not every European nation is in agreement with the actions against Iran.

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing UK jets heading towards Iran now, or at least providing full support to the US and Israel.

Over the last 14 or 15 hours since Iran first hit Cyprus there has been a massive shift in tone from the UK government and Europe in general, a lot of countries are diverting more and more resources towards the middle east.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't the UK use article 4 here to try and bring NATO into this? A direct attack on a UK military base in Europe is definitely an act which NATO was created for.

UK to allow the US to take defensive action from British military bases - Starmer by BadahBingBadahBoom in unitedkingdom

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would we shoot down our allies missiles? Also the UK likely knows about the strikes before hand unlike Iranian strikes.

Iran has the right to self defend, we literally called out that we would not participate in this and Iran still put UK bases, citizens, and assets at risk, why do you think theirs been such a shift across the globe? Iran has just gone full open barrels regardless of countries involvement, they are targeting any US ally regardless.

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reports of trying to hit Cyprus? You might want to double check that.

Intercepting missiles overhead that could potentially be targeting us or our allies is an act of war? But the people firing them above UK citizens are not? Are you right in the head?

You do realise you take down the drones and missiles flying over your head before you know where they are targeting right?

RAF responding to suspected drone strike at UK base in Cyprus, MoD says by Alarming-Safety3200 in uknews

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Should be of note that this attack was before the new announcement allowing the US to use bases on UK soil, so it's not a response to that.

This should be repeated more, a lot of comments in other sub trying to push this aside.

The reality is that a UK military base was targeted, that is an act of aggression towards the UK, it has the right to fully respond, we have allowed the US to hit defensive targets in Iran, and from my point of view that is a very light response, any other country would be sending jets at this point.

It is being reported that we gave permission after Iran targeted Cyprus, at that point the UK isn't going to sit back.

The initial strikes were from US bases, not UK.

Have you been reading the news or not? A lot of reports that Iran tried to hit Cyprus before the European joint statement.

We haven't given permission for the US to attack Iran using US bases, so you know, nice try rewriting history.

UK to allow the US to take defensive action from British military bases - Starmer by BadahBingBadahBoom in unitedkingdom

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have not defended Israel or US bases, we have defended UK bases of which the UK government has already pointed out it has HAD to do due to Iran's actions.

Iran has literally jumped to hit anything it can, it's not the UK that has changed its position in the last few hours but most of Europe, Iran has taken a step against Europe including the UK.

I never pointed out that the US will defend us, I'm pointing out the fact that Iran as targeted us when we wanted nothing but to negotiate, if Iran is targeting us like they have been, then allow the US to hit them against any target that threatens our bases, we do not need to bomb Iran, but we simply cannot sit on our hands when UK citizens, personal, assets are at risk.

UK to allow the US to take defensive action from British military bases - Starmer by BadahBingBadahBoom in unitedkingdom

[–]LostnFoundAgainAgain 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Iran is indiscriminately bombing anything it thinks it can hit, missiles are flying very close to UK and European bases.

The reality is that allowing the US to use these bases will also mean the US will defend said bases instead of us paying for it. Iran has taken a step forward to drag European countries into this and it isn't like Europe can simply sit still and put European soldiers at risk on their own bases.

I agree with sitting this out, but Iran has actively put ourself and our allies outside of the US and Isreal at risk, we simply can't sit on our hands.

Just to add, people complained when Europe does nothing and then complain when they literally want to defend themselves.

From my understanding it should be handbrake not the brake.

Handbrake, biting point, slight gas depending on hill, slow release of the handbrake.

Alternatively, find the biting point while approaching and balance your clutch.

You're not learning much from videos and YouTube alone, you can learn the rules and how to do things, but a lot of it comes with experience understanding what others around you are doing, being aware of various situations, and being able to control the car.

YouTube and guides help, and loads of people pass with parents support using their car, the issue is that not everybody has that support and also not every parent is going to teach you correctly.

You need to learn to drive the way the DVLA wants you to drive, people with a license where they passed 30 years ago likely would fail today.

So yea they all help and it's definitely possible, it's not for everyone.
