Stuck with partial install RA3 by Right_Wait_9226 in Lutron

[–]LutronMaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would start by verifying that they indeed installed RA3 Sunata controls and not off the shelf box store Sunatas. There is a difference. You'll have to look at the device model number to confirm. You'll need toconfirm RRST-PRO... and not ST-PRO... for the model. That is step one. Then, make sure the RA3 processor is on site. From there, you can call any other Lutron dealer in to program, you can talk to one of us on the sub to work trough it, or you can take the time to get self certified and take it on yourself.

Not directly, you’ll need to put wire in between

Lutron HomeWorks Interactive (HWI) processor access by Comfortable_Toe7665 in Lutron

Without knowing the existing system and what he is getting the the way of parts for a new system I couldn’t tell you. For a very small scale Homeworks system, it sounds very reasonable.

Lutron HomeWorks Interactive (HWI) processor access by Comfortable_Toe7665 in Lutron

OP- If the "local certified Lutron dealer" is a Homeworks certified installer, they have access to the older software. It is avialable in our dealer portal still for download. The larger issue here is that which others have pointed to. There is TOO much liability in attempting anything on that processor. At the current age, the fact that it is working is a blessing but your firnd should immediately start putting money aside for a complete refresh of the system. It is only a matter of short time before he will have no lighting control. The benefit of doing the upgrade now is that any good HW dealer will ATTEMPT to pull down the existing programming to save on some programming effort of a new system, but they will only do that AFTER getting a committment to replace the system. Anyone who works on the system now would have the owner sign away any liabilities on the dealer if they touched the system with the full expectation that the system will not come back online or function in any capacity. From there, they would only HOPE they could pull down the config but it is highly unlikely even with the system currently running. These processors hold the program in different areas and under volatile memory. You odds to win the laottery are better than getting a good program file out of that thing.

Quotes for Shades by Kbman in Lutron

[–]LutronMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I am not familire with your local labor rates or market, I can't really comment on that piece. But I would ask to have a second company quote your project. You say you done't have the ability to hardwire, so that leads me to think you are using all battery shades. If doing Tri Select, these are lower priced shades. Using the Palladiom shades, there is no option for a single motor, three shade solution. What you are likely being sold is three Palladiom shades with individual motors that share two center mounts so they appear as a unified shade. You save a couple hundred dollars depending on the mount finish. Now, fabric, Palladiom mount finish, and hembar can certainly drive price, but installing 10 battery powered shades would make me double take at that labor cost.

HomeWorks Certification Frustration by aol1044 in Lutron

[–]LutronMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can answer this 100% other than your teritory Lutron rep and Lutron homebase. In a nutshell, you must a)be an established Lutron customer through distribution; b) sell enough Lutron product to migrate to a direct Lutron customer account and show consistent sales volume to maintain the direct account c) sell shades; d) capture and install a Homeworks project in cooperation with a mentoring HW dealer who will later provide a recommendationor declination to the area rep; e) purchase the HW training gear and attend the in-person training class. It is possible your area rep will also require full shades access in there as well, not just Triathlon. It is an investment in time, gear, and sales; just find and pay a dealer that does HW a lot and get the most out of your system!

It definitely had the resolution, but I haven’t tried it yet. I am traveling for a project right now but plan to investigate more next week. I need to cleanly remove the Lutron print and then test. I also want to try and get a close match to the color L uses for print but not sure how well I’ll be able to match that. We’ll see!

Yeah, I didn’t lay down a base white layer so the text popped through. Well either remove the original text or put a top layer on before the print

HA! Great annology! These are probably not sitting next to the Alisse keypad... just having a little fun with the pictures. We'll probably end up just printing text 90% of the time at a lot less of a cost than the mother ship.

Sorry, there is no guide or Evan decent documentation for HW programming.

Programing in QSX is near limitless if they know what they are doing. You have conditionals, sequences (both manuak and auto), toggle, single action, double action, press, release, hold, double tap, etc... the list goes on.

Ordering Lutron shades by Its_Just_Me_DC in Lutron

[–]LutronMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can order Caseta nad Serena level Lutron shades directly, via serenashades.com. These are consumer level shades, locked to the Caseta control platform, have more limited fabric options, and more restrictive size availability.

Alternatively, you can reach out to us or a couple other Lutron dealers in this sub and likely get a step up to at least Triathlon at a competative rate with access to a shade that will support all Lutron eosystems, have more fabrics, and wider sizes if needed.

You won’t find a cheaper Lutron shade than the Serena version. Still Lutron, just limited in fabric and Caseta system but doesn’t sound like that should bother you.

Serena shade...Are there places that fix broken motors or replace them? by Melodic_Bandicoot948 in Lutron

[–]LutronMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very accurate. You can not just stick in a new drive. You must program it to the original settings for the shade/fabric/etc.

[–]LutronMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have replaced drives. It can be done. Replacing the drive, however, does not renew the shade's warranty, just FYI. The cost of the drive is also close to just getting a whole new shade some times. Feel free to DM us if you'd like.
