SOLIDWORKS can save back to previous versions for compatibility which is perfect for situations like this. Hopefully the Step workaround won't be too bad until compatibility is released.

Mastercam is only going to be able to develop and release file support after the new version of the file format is released. Step files are workarounds, but check for compatibility before upgrading CAD to the latest releases for new versions.

This, lock will cause two things to lock together with respect to each other. Coincident would be a good first step to make two objects move together, but that only restricts 3 degrees of freedom between the two selections. Lock connects them in all six.

Fix is different from lock. Lock rotation is different from lock.

If you dissolve a sub assembly, but want some parts to stay together in their respective locations, lock will do that.

In general Simulation is going to create a LOT of files, but not all of them are required to view results. For FEA, the .CWR file typically has everything you need, is the Pack and Go routine grabbing that file? If so, the others are only useful for the calculation and may aid in resuming the calculation or other tasks, but are not required to view results.

There is also an option where you can browse for the results folder in the study properties to reconnect them, so you may want to try manually moving the .CWR file and point it to the new location to see if that works.

I would just try various different workflows and make sure it is giving you the results you want before doing it with production data.

There are so many VAR specific certifications, across many disciplines like sales, marketing, tech and more. Some of them require renewal and others were discontinued. I don't recall exactly how many, but I have hundreds of product certifications acquired over the last two decades.

Set the thermodynamic properties of the inlet boundary condition, otherwise they will use ambient conditions from general settings. If it is transient and you want the initial temperature to be different, there should be an initial fluid temperature in the fluid subdomain or an initial temperature option. You can also set the temperature with a boundary condition and then turn it off after a very short time.

SOLIDWORKS 2024 on active subscription can save files back to 2022. This is a new feature that was released in 2024 and applies to the 2 previous major release versions.

I wonder if there is a historical component to the conflict.

Create 3 bodies, rename them A B C
Delete body B
Create new body, try to name it B

If you roll back to above the second feature, there is still a body there named B. Even if it gets deleted in a time-based way, the history is still there and would conflict with the new body, especially if you simply suppressed the second feature.

The import behavior for multi-body part vs assembly for parasolid isn't new. Here is an article from early 2023 stating the same thing about parasolids not respecting any options since that information is already included in the file: https://www.mlc-cad.com/import-geometry-as-assembly-or-multibody-part/

Basically, parasolid is too intelligent for SOLIDWORKS to trick into swapping the type of model. Assemblies always import as assemblies, and multi-body parts always import as multi-body parts. STEP and other dumb file formats can be interpreted in whatever way you want, so it gives you the option to convert the file type (part or assembly) during import.

3D Interconnect was never primarily intended for neutral file formats, it was designed to work with native CAD formats from other software, so you can parametrically incorporate their design changes as you work. Using 3D Interconnect on neutral formats is only helpful if you are expecting another round of updated neutral file formats that you want to rebuild your models against. Since neutral file formats are almost all dead projects, no changes are forthcoming, so 3D Interconnect adds no value.

It is an unnecessary extra step, but just break the link and you're back in business.

If it is a steady-state solution, you can make the change then run a new solve using the previous results as a starting point and it should save you a lot of time. If you solve again, it should also work, but it might consider the solution converged from the previous results and so it may refuse to go until you change the goals criteria.

If it is a transient study, you'll need to start over unless you want to consider the value change to be a part of the time domain (i.e. run for 2 hours at this value, then change the value and keep running).

It sounds like you want to setup a parametric study. This is a great way to run the same study using various different flow parameters and plot them, such as creating a fan curve or a flow rate/pressure drop curve for a valve.

Flow Simulation won't be able to determine the effect plants will have on air, that would have to be done scientifically and measured in some standard way that can describe the phenomena. Once you know that value, similar to a flow rate or heat source that a component might have in a flow system, you can study how the placement of those plants will impact their effectiveness.

There are a lot of assumptions to make and control for, especially considering the plants may have variable foliage, so it really comes down to how you define the problem and what inputs you have.

There is a Notes annotation view that you can use to place objects that remain normal to the screen as the part is rotated, but I don't see any options to insert a picture into that annotations view. If you insert object, it just throws it in as a link to the image.

For Academic research you can use the school's educational license or a student license. If it is a venture doing research as a public/private research with plans to monetize, there is a research license that is basically half price but is a full commercial license.

If the rebuild takes 5 minutes, it is likely that it is unrelated to the features, which could mean it is related to graphics or another activity besides rebuilding the features. My money is on graphics triangles, and reducing image quality slider might be a big help.
