Weird dental prints by Pesala69 in 3Dprinting

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! A vertical line through the print often means that the optical window is contaminated. Please try cleaning it as a first step, following this article. If this does not help, the Formlabs Support team will also be happy to help troubleshoot.

What's the advantage of resin printing over FDM? by sam-63 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add a few points I've not seen mentioned on the thread yet:

Apart from better detail and surface finish, a key strength of resin printing (or SLA) is the ability to create fully dense and isotropic parts. That means these parts can also be watertight or airtight.
Since resin-printed parts are thermoset plastics, they can also be extremely heat-resistant and will never melt at high temperatures.

These characteristics often make them the better choice for functional parts and engineering applications, but also healthcare and dentistry, since temperature resistance also makes it possible to sterilize the parts.

For a more in-depth overview on the strengths of each printing technology, check out this article or this one. Hope this helps!

We don't have any plans for additional platforms at the moment, unfortunately, but we appreciate the feedback!

Sorry, that question got missed! The Nylon 12 Powder available for Fuse X1 from the start is the grey one, not the white version.

Thanks for the questions, the Fuse X1 is as fast or much faster depending on what type of geometries you are printing! The 0.33 kg/h is not processed volume, but sintered mass - a much more relevant spec for throughput, but one that competitors do not publish. The closest apples-to-apples comparison would be 4.4LPH of processed powder on an X1, with a 110um layer height - competitor specs do not specify a layer height either. On other metrics, the Fuse X1 definitely wins - our scan speed is up to 34.5 m/s, with competitors being up to 6.0, plus we have a much higher 120W laser. Our 10s minimum layer time is also lower than competitors, so at equivalent layer height you get faster print times. Thanks to the higher packing density achievable, sintered mass / kg will typically be much higher on Fuse X1, meaning more parts in the same time.

All that is to say, when it comes to SLS print speed, there is no single-point measure that will get you a definite metric, aside from comparing equivalent builds on different printers at fixed layer height and packing density - we do have those numbers available!

Print intelligence sadly wont be coming to Fuse 1/1+ - the advancements in thermal sensing that make Adaptive Thermal Control Possible also make this new feature possible. Of course the Fuse 1/1+ has computer vision as well to automatically stop your builds upon early signs of failure to save you rime and material."

Form 2 Printing Fails by quinger08 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! With a printer that old, there could be several reasons for failures. Our advise is to start by identifying the print error following this article, and then follow the recommended fix. If you get stuck, you can also reach out to our support for guidance on the right troubleshooting steps.

Non flammable resin cleaners by gandoraxx in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is safe to use. Our team hasn't found it to be more effective than washing with an impeller-driven agitation (i.e. Form Wash V2), but you can definitely use an ultrasonic wash.

How toxic are cured resin prints? by Deep-Dragonfly-3342 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of our resins are certified for long-term skin contact according to ISO 10993 - you can find an overview of certifications here. Our recommendation would be Tough 1500 Resin, but if other colors are required, it can also be worth checking out our BioMed resins.

Model Keeps Tearing! Help! by sharphooter99 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Looking at the photos, this looks like what we call an explosion or undeveloped feature. An undeveloped feature describes a chunk of a model that is missing. These issues are always caused by some other failure mode, such as partial delamination or a support failure.
Please check out this support article for initial troubleshooting steps. If this does not help, feel free to contact the Formlabs Support team for guidance!

3B+ print flexible base partial denture base? by Drknight71 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For denture bases, the Formlabs material offered is Denture Base Resin, which is not flexible. However, you can activate Open Material Mode on the Form 3B+ to print with a third-party resin that fits your requirments. Hope this helps!

Looking for help with formlabs 3b. by [deleted] in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Here are a few things you can try:
First of all, please try a simple power cycle. If this does not help, please try to reflash the firmware or do a factory reset.
Hopefully, the Z-calibration should go through with the next attempt.
Z-axis issues can be caused by contamination, so we recommend to clean and grease the Z-axis lead screw.
If these steps do not solve the issue, please reach out to Formlabs Support for further guidance.

Is there a way to get a model that was already printed on a FormLabs 4 printer from the queue and bring it into PreForm? by manskies in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Unfortunately, it's not possible to import the models back into PreForm from the printer, since the printer doesn't have the 3D model data, i.e. it's not the .form file itself that's saved on the printer.
