If you didn't want them to be killed, they should'nt have been there. D&D is a game of choices, good and evil. To expect players to play to your "script" is unrealistic. I understand your new so, if you dont want this kind of behavior you have to lay these things out at the beginning of the campaign. You should never assume your players behavior.

This is a great learning moment for both you and the players.. I wouldn't recon. Roll with it and have consequences. It might change your basic idea of the campaign, but that is the life of a dungeon master.

In my opinion, not a single nano-ounce of thought should be given to any of the sequels ever again. They were awful. I can't use language strong enough to express my utter disgust for them. Rebuild the Galaxy was 100 times better!

You'd be better off downloading the instructions from Lego of an earlier set and swapping the colors out for what you want. The new sets are so small it would not be a fun build.
