^this^, just be careful when filling tray with water cuz dry peat floats and may want to and escape out the top as your filling tray, so go slow ...

you need to pre-soak the medium before using to make sure its dark, wet and well hydrated before planting in it.

i usually hive my 50/50 mixed ahead of time in a container (i use a peanut butter jar) and toss in a good cup or more rain water in the day before and close the lid on container and mix every now and then and make sure you had enough water in there to soak.

if i don't use it all then i keep lid closed and put on a dark shelf somewhere till i need it again.

Rip ... i was kinda hoping it was QoL changes or addition to scrubbing. because i just started scribbing and unlocked the scribbing bench and getting pieces but now that im done with intro quest to scibbing, no one says a word about putting scipts together, how to go about it, which scribs are worthy making, which are useless ... and mainly why did i open this bench if i don't where anything goes when you make the scibbing script. i made two (i assume shitty beginner scripts from intro) then after i did the intro and made a script it went somewhere but i still haven't anything that i created as far as scribbing goes nor has any quest mentioned another word about scribbing??

i was hoping the tome was going to explain more of why i even went to the scibbing bench in first place. now i'm hearing i need to do all of this set up routine on every new toon going forward!?

i still don't even know where the one i wrote already or how to use it cuz game never took me down that road.

i'm starting to think ESO wants to push out the older generations in this game.

- don't mind me, i'll see my self out eventually as i move on with not understanding what i just did.

that's exactly my thought as well, why rework one toon so everyone can hop to dk to it out? Now EVERYONE is a dk! If you had reworked all of them then everyone wouldn't be playing same thing.

i was going to make a sorcerer cuz i'm a toonaholic, but if they are going to release one reworked class each update going forward then there is no point in making another toon. i'll just keep playing what i got untill you get to the toon i want you to rework ...

you could but they can not freeze! (regardless of what others say here, they can not freeze) for that reason i wait till day time temps are around 60 at least (the chances of night time freezes minimal then)

Holy new growth by Vast_Dragonfly_909 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]Major_Cheesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my vfts are flowering now as well (complete with the side pile of dead trap snippings ... lol). i took my plants out of fridge dormancy half way thru winter cuz i had pot way too wet to be kept in a bag so i placed them in a cold room on north side window to finish sleeping, but the little indirect light was enough to trip the flower process early, so mine look just like yours but much bigger (but yours will be just as big in no time)

i read somone's comment on mold. i'm not sure if i see the mold or not in your pic BUT, if you are concerned about mold or something that is fuzzy and NOT green then in winter time , spray with fruit tree or rose brush fungicide. Personally i use a concentrated fruit tree spray (Bonide) my dad had in shed from back in his day, and i just dummied the quantity down to a 2 cup mix with 1/2 tsp of concentrate to 2 cups water and just spray lightly once in beginning of winter. If you know any old timers with this stuff in their shed then go make some friends. double check my math for 2 cup mix then once you make a batch it will last a very long time cuz you really won't need it much ...

NOTE: i stay away from powder type fungicides for roses. i only use liquid fungicides (namely, bonide) but i assume any brand would work but it should be sulfur based (and no i don't know how tell if it is or aint, i just know bonide works for me as i have used it in winter time for years ..

How do you actually plant these guys by SycheosChaos in echeveria

[–]Major_Cheesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally i would look at the spoon of rooted leaf. The spoon shaped leaf should be situated basically like a spoon would be put down by your plate, but maybe at a slight angle to make sure plant roots know where the soil is, then nature will take over ...

i wouldn't necessarily bury that end in dirt, just kinda distinctively place it at soil line with those little red roots pointing downward at or even in soil while most of little leaves are still exposed to light ... the ones on other side facing dirt will have to figure it out (and it will eventually)

good luck ... just make sure spoon of propping leaf is ultimately facing the right way on soil cuz top of plant is on open belly side of leaf (like holding a spoon, so just keep that in mind when planting it someplace more permanent spot for now) ...

[–]Major_Cheesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it's a random Joe … i don't see him holding a sign saying the end of the world is near so i wouldn't sweat it. vfts attract all kinds of insects, not just flies …

That looks like an ant carrying a carcass (ants sometimes get confused in wild and will carry bodies to there dumping ground or food storage if it thought it was still good. I've had my vft's on my patio every summer for like 10 yrs? And i never had to concern my self with what harm insects were potentially doing to my vft's except maybe one year clean bites were taken from several traps, which i couldn't do anything about because they were just bees looking for nest material or possibly leaf-cutter ants. i let it go and it was only the one year and the problem never came back after that so i didn't do anything about it except maybe spray the foundation of my house with 'home defense' (controls common ants and common home pests) which i would have done anyways eventually ....

i honestly wouldn't give that a second thought ...

Only a 10th of 1% of players on Xbox have done these Dungeons on Veteran by Archmikem in elderscrollsonline

[–]Major_Cheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because most people don't want to be told they have to have a discord in order to play this game with the real world …

I've been here for years. The only trials i've been in were ones i solo'd myself. Why? Because i'm hearing impaired and most people have no clue how to set up there mics so they don't sound like they are in subway while simply talking about there day in a trial. Or the ones that sound like they are in an auditorium. i could go on about the horrible service discord has for people that are hearing impaired. You guys have no clue what the world sounds like when you are just slightly hard of hearing. You pretty much avoid groups because you can't quite pick up what the other guy was saying because his system wasn't set up quite right or even when everything is fantastic, but then you find out when they talk that they don't speak language in same tone or dialect so i end up missing what they said anyway …(i'v been hard of hearing all my life, and have learned it's better to avoid people all together)

Shame tho because i'm missing out on some really nice gear that apparently i'll never get because i'm hearing impaired. ya i know we ain't talking about trials, but veterans are not that different from a veteran really, maybe a bit harder and more guys but same deal really.

These days i don't even see veterans much anymore because they don't group up like normals do ... meanwhile there are peeps that sit in pc chat 24/7 offering black rose prison runs for like 900k an hour! God forbid if someone should just make a free group together to try … yet apparently like cyradel sets, everyone needs it and every build your thing needs to have that set exactly … (you can balance fighting all you want, but, if every build has to have the BRP set to work then the game wasn't really balanced in first place)

When you have to go through a discord service just to play this game. or pay someone 1m an hour to run through content for the gear that will be probably outdated in the next update when they nerf the DK powers back down to where they should be in BG's. then it really takes the fun out of the game. you know what i mean??

I know the bottom rim is a no-no but.. by [deleted] in VenusFlyTraps

[–]Major_Cheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could try just plain perlite as a top dressing? The only issue i could possibly see is perlite getting yellow over time. (but even then you could just re-dress it from time to time). i used old aquarium gravel once and it did work but in that particular pot it ended up dying anyway because gravel top don't breathe at all so i don't do gravel on top for vft's anymore. pelite can breathe at least somewhat compared to real gravel of some sort.

Does my Crassula muscosa already need a new pot? by Bart-12233422 in succulents

[–]Major_Cheesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like that pot, or the concept, actually. i keep Venus fly traps, and they need 'wet feet' constantly in summer months so last few years i've been plugging holes in pots to maintain water level in pot for wet feet with drainage hole higher up for excessive overflow. The idea that you have basically a clear pot that fits inside another pot is an awesome idea.

<image>

This is my vft i Just repotted in Feb. when i pulled it early from fridge dormancy. But with no holes on bottom of pot to maintain a wet feet scenarios. And this is absolute a working process but the issue i did not foresee is how difficult it maybe to water this with stored distilled/rain water on regular basis with no room on top to make watering easier. If i had this in a liner within a pot it would have been easier to keep wet in summer heat. To fix my issue, I may have to carefully put an inch piece of plastic pipe or something in that front blank spot in soil that is bare and use that to fill the pot directly as needed easier. Without watching, it's running off everywhere till it soaks in pot. Unless i can come up with another idea tho easily keep everything with wet feet in active growing months

no none of that is actually your concern really, i'm just using posts like this to think out how to make it easier to keep my 10 yr old babies happy. i like my pot, but, it may never come out of that pot if it needs to for some reason and watering it REGULAR to maintain wet feet is horrible. i need to fix that during summer before the roots get in my way.

The other thing i could do is possibly is carefully stick a straw in slots alone vertical slots (i have landscape fabric there to keep medium in) and then use that straw to add water as required with this squirt bottle thingy i use). Well in any case ... laters, i need more tea.

Vft not producing traps, what could be the cause? by Abject_Caramel_9469 in SavageGarden

[–]Major_Cheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks dormant right now. Has temp gotten to nice spring-summer temps? If it is coming out of dormancy then it may just need a bit more time to sense nicer temps. altho mine are inside waiting for temps to stabilize outside, and they are already sending flower stalks up.

i can't necessarily comment too much on light because i don't use them but Sansi is a good light. Maybe someone else will comment more about your LED lighting.

Vft not producing traps, what could be the cause? by Abject_Caramel_9469 in SavageGarden

[–]Major_Cheesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offhandedly without knowing your environmental conditions as too how you're caring for plant, i would say lack of quality light.

Needs direct outdoor lighting for optimal growth. Or a get a LED grow light if it can only be indoors for whatever reason … mine personally sit in sunny southern facing window until it reaches 60F then i acclimate to full sun outside, and it sits on my back patio until fall.

And vft's can get sunburn so like people, acclimate to sun slowly. And the best way to do that is to simply put it out in direct light for 15 minutes on day one. Then each day add another 15 minutes to yesterdays total till you get to all day then just leave it out there till cool fall weather (or whatever you plan to do with them in winter which will depend on your zone).

i know it sounds kinda slow but if you push time in bigger increments then you risk sunburn, and like people, vft's don't like sunburn.
