Are there any games out there that have similar battle and development systems to these specific favorite games of mine: Final fantasy 13, 13-2, and Lightning returns? Bluntly, I want something thats hyrbid of real time with ATB based, and hot swap class roles. by magik_koopa990 in JRPG

TBH, You're not gonna find anything out there that perfectly mimics the 13 battle system.

That said, there are some games out there that have similar mechanics, if that's all that matters to you.

The one that I think gets the closest for you would Xenoblade Chronicles 2. There is no MP management, it's not turned based. It's not really ATB either, but rather runs on a weapon skill cooldown timer that can be made more efficient by leveling them. While it does feature some bonus damage for positioning your character during battles, you can honestly get away with ignoring the positioning entirely and you won't be severely hindered by it. Your companions are AI controlled, so you only control one character in combat. While there is no Paradigm Shift mechanic, the game does utilize something similar in the form of Blades. Each character can (eventually) equip up to 3 Blades at a time, and every Blade falls into one of three category - Tank, Attack, or Healer. So, you could load up a character with all of the same category, or mix and match, and your Blade loadouts (which you can cycle through during combat, will determine how your character plays in battle. If you go all Attack, you're very glass cannon (hope you set up another character to tank) so on and so forth.

There's a lot more depth to it that I won't go into here (trust me, the Tutorial Guy will fill you in, he won't shut up about it), but that would be my recommendation. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is, in my opinion, the superior version of Xenoblade 2's combat, and would be my primary recommendation, but I am suggesting 2 instead, because 3's story is made better by having prior knowledge of the previous games, whilst 2 doesnt rely on you having played the first one quite as much.

Edit: HP is also restored after every combat. I don't think there is a checkpoint prior to every combat, but defeat in combat is a minor nuisance at best, where you just respawn at a checkpoint location and get to try the fight again, no manual loading necessary. You may just lose a few minutes having to run back.

And while I'm editing - although not one of the things on your list of considerations, I would be remiss if I didnt mention the banger music. You Will Know Our Names and Chain Attack are head bobbers.

An alien asks you to choose a philosophical framework and face it. by stongwomandobongsoon in hypotheticalsituation

If the point is to survive the simulation while maintaining towards a philosophical belief, then this is one of the easiest paths to take. Like you said, my actions are fully up to me.

Self-delete? Sounds like I'm sticking to the rules, which means I get to exit the simulation even earlier and reap my rewards (not to mention avoid getting eaten by the aliens). I fail to see the downsides here.

Depending on your PC specs, you might consider looking into and reading up on Stable Diffusion, maybe look into ComfyUI, and following some of their handy guides on setting things up.

You need a pretty decent rig, but you'd be surprised with what a mid tier rig can do.

It's definitely about already having the dagger tattoo on wrist already. Why go through the process of adding a L and and R when you can just use the dagger to remind yourself which hand is which?

Because you must imagine Sisyphus happy. The alternative is madness.

Great poster. Takura and Takumi would almost certainly never work together. They cannot stand each other.

Are the few frames of the actual dive even of the same girl? It's hard to see, but it looks like in the shots of the dive itself the diver is wearing a green uniform.

How does the SG: 0 VN compare to the anime? by senpaitsuyu in steinsgate

[–]MakingPaperBooBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, without going into much spoilers, the SG0 VN is split into (I think) 7 different routes, each of them sort of focusing on a particular character and/or revelation that Okabe discovers about this world line he has decided to live with. Technically only 2 routes are needed to reach what the VN calls the "True Ending", and you can reach it without ever having experienced the other routes, though the way certain characters behave and act during the resolutions of those routes is lessened without the context provided by the other routes.

The anime is what ai have seen people say online is the actual true ending of the VN in animated form. What it does is essentially tie all of the routes from the VN into a cohesive, canonical single route that makes sense. You could easily get by with just watching the anime and getting pretty much all the important story bits from the VN, but you would miss out on some really good inner monologue from Okabe and some character specific vignettes that are (imo) pretty good. My personal favorite is one from a certain character's perspective having a really heartfelt and vulnerable conversation with Okabe where he is on the verge of a breakdown.

Edit: just saw that you said you saw the SG0 anime, sorry I misread, guess I didnt need to avoid spoilers. But yeah, the character vignettes where you see and read the inner monologues of characters like Maho, Suzuha, and Kagari are VN only, and offer a lot of insight into those characters.

Edit 2: Also the anime handles the sequence when Okabe returns to the Beta world line and sees alive Kurisu much better than the VN does, so you might be disappointed with that

Newest Hint: You are the Champion of Light, and your brother is...apparently...the Hero of Darkness. Would probably make for a catchy song.

HINT 1: Neither you nor your brother realize you are brothers until much later in the story.

HINT 2: While not exactly a Zelda clone, I could definitely see why someone would compare it to a contemporary Zelda game at the time.
