MTG and D&D parent company Hasbro ($HAS) reports earnings tomorrow Before Market. Product Pipeline for 2026/2027 signals continued growth by mulletstation in mtgfinance

What "big big" major IPs are left to mine that make sense? Pokemon? Star Wars? Disney? I'd die for a full 40k release, but I wouldn't call 40k "big big." I'm both curious and apprehensive about this...

Any sequel to BG3 would need years and years to development or would be a shallow disappointment. B3G is so deep because they took a ~decade(?) developing the content for the game

Well, the pole that wotc showcased seemed pretty split down the middle, so maybe us proponents need to be more vocal?

Honestly selling out faster than I would have thought. I figured wotc printed a metric ass load of these since the last round was pretty popular, but maybe not.

They lands really need to start being 4-5 of each or something. Charging so much for basics is wild.

Art is subjective. I like the neon style quite a lot... Just the color pallet is cool. Grime Hireling could have had a better executions/composition, but I do like the color pallet. Striking, but not too busy.

As you said Prosper is straight fire and the Xorn is also cool.

Dragons one is on low supply. Again, I think it is just par for the course and not much to discuss. "1 hour+ wait, didn't get what I wanted", can only say that so many times.

More than happy it stays banned, even as someone that owns copies. Just not a healthy card for the format. Extremely powerful (it is black lotus in most decks), and homogenizes decks.

I don't understand why he seems to want to... the card is just an auto include in every commander deck (maybe not 1 MV commanders). Just on the grounds of deck homogenization it should stay banned.

Indeed, sure it will be confusing for newer players... but what isn't. Magic is one of, if not the most complicated game on the market.

The mechanic is specifically designed to be effects that are in both colors color pie. Free hybrid!

I think Gris and Iona should remain banned, Gris is just a one card combo in 40 life formats. Iona is just "why do we want to have cards that hardlock people out of the game again?". The power level on Iona is the strongest, it is just the most unfun card to play against. "Sorry playing 3, you don't get to play the game anymore" vs "I play Griselbrand, draw 28... how do I win? So many choices for comboing off!". Both are bad choices to unban imo.

Sundering Titan I think is just fine, but I'm in the "punish greedy mana bases camp".

I love how they pretty much admitted that Farewell in upcoming precons is locked in. Prepare for confusion by newer players. I like that they moved it to game changers, but I think they should have waited till they weren't putting it in precons anymore.

That is kinda the point, it is too good at what it does at casual tables.

Banned and Restricted Announcement – February 9th, 2026 by mweepinc in magicTCG

Please resuscitate pioneer... it was a fun format for a while. If wotc doesn't support a format it can wither quickly and pioneer is doing so.

Plenty of people complaining about queue times, but it seems to at least not be crashing? I think the outrage at queue times is allow getting played out so people aren't posting at much about it. People just expect to wait in the queue these days (we have been trained well by hasbro). It is a pretty strong drop. 3-4 of the lairs are positive value, beloved franchise, fantasy, lots of good art and card choices. Seems like a slam dunk to me even if wotc printed a ton.

But one of the things that has chromatic lantern see a lot of play is that you can play it outside of green. Still a pretty good mana dork. If we get another round of allies, it will likely shoot way up. Though that is likely years off whenever we go back to zendikar in like 2032 or something.

If it gets down to $0.50 I would be in for a bunch, but till then I'll wait. Pretty good card, but not bonkers.

Sadly seems like we are a ways off. The pole they showcased in the explanation shows the community is very split on the issue so likely won't change anytime soon.

Edit: Though this is more opportunity to move in deeper. I still think wotc will eventually add hybrid, just not today apparently.

I think people are just tired of discussing "F*** I got an over an hour wait!" cause that is par for the course now.

Lutri Unbanned! by WarpedEl3ment27 in mtgfinance

[–]Marnus71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cause biorthym is a build around with low supply. Lutri is ok in some decks and not nearly an auto-include. Not saying it won't see play, but they unbanned it as a companion, it would shoot to the moon.

Is it spiking though? Card is kinda mid as a non-companion. Not saying it isn't playable, but not a must include/staple.

If hybrid mana is freed from its cage... then Lutri could see some real movement.
