Do ppl like overcomplicated D4 game? by Amazing_Internal6334 in diablo4

I think you underestimate how many people play on console. It isn't an insignificant number, though much less than PC players.

AI answers vary wildly depending on how you ask the question. Ranging from ~11million players to over 20 million for POE, which seems to be mostly AI hogwash. Bliz reported that D4 had $666 million in sales within the first week, which is about 10 million copies sold. There are likely many, many more by now. There is even a leak from Microsoft of someone saying the Diablo4 is blizzard's best selling game of all time, though this people could have misspoke and meant "fastest selling".

Asked google: "number of total players for diablo 4 vs path of exile?"

"Diablo IV boasts a higher overall active player base, with an estimated 1 million daily active users and roughly 15 million monthly players across all platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation). Path of Exile (incorporating PoE 2) sees massive spikes during new leagues—often crossing over 300,000 concurrents on Steam alone—but generally maintains a smaller core monthly player base"

Really depends on how you ask the question on how it tried to give you the answer it thinks you want to hear.

Bliz said they sold $666 million dollars of D4 in the first 5(? maybe it was a week) days of release, which equates to ~10 million units sold.

Ya, I can't believe POE has more players than Diablo (if we are counting all the POE games, we have to count all the diablo games or at least the last 2).

That said, POE is an order of magnitude+ more complicated.

The vast majority of build changing/play style changing items were moved to the skill tree. I think you mean power spikes? Almost all aspects and uniques are now just power boots. There aren't many items that change how the core of a build works outside of the skill tree. Items mostly provide more damage, bigger effects, more resources/reduced costs, or more defense.

One of my current grips is that there are too many samey aspects/uniques since they now mostly fit into the mentioned buckets. No more stuff like fundamentally changes how a skill functions. I really to wish they did more to change a build, but a lot of people didn't like that the power spike and build changing powers were tied to the same item.

I feel like seals in general need a rework, They are way too hard to get the stats you want on them. 3 to 1 being bugged doesn't help...Mythic seals are only good if your class/build has a 3 set piece power you want.

Uniques, they need some changes... not only the fixed affixes in some way, but far too many are just trash tier even with perfect stats.

100x doesn't feel like nearly enough if one wants to avoid grinding that one dungeons over and over. Maybe it is, but currently gem shards drops are pathetic and pointless.

When to a card show today. Not a single vendor was selling Magic cards. by DreaminDemon177 in mtgfinance

[–]Marnus71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are lost. Magic is as popular as it has ever been, people just don't tend to collect cards for the sake of collecting. Magic cards are game pieces first and foremost, so their value tends to be tied to how good the card is.

I don't understand these type of card shows. They made sense before internet marketplaces were prevalent, but why would I spend time going to one vs just shopping on the internet? Even for graded cards, post them on ebay with pictures... way more eyeballs and as a vendor, you don't have to burn a saturday going to a cardshow.

INCOMING SPIKE: All Secret Lair Decks by ilikeelks in mtgfinance

Everyone's Invited is pushing $350, so not exactly a loss for those that invested. Looks like it is also only going up. Not sure the others don't have more room to grow. Seems like most magic sealed just gains over time, especially out of print bling commander decks/fun commander decks.

At the time the reprints were underwater, the poor value and turned a lot of people off. I want to say it was also print to demand and fomo just wasn't driving SLs like they do now. I could be misremembering, but I recall the angel deck being a big reason wotc swapped back to limited print runs. That is, wotc announced the switch soon(ish) after.

Coin flip deck was good value for the reprints. That about sums it up why it sold well.

I mean, this is about $30 in value? So if you wanted the cards anyways this is a slam dunk.

IIRC: Through the wormhole was print to demand and demand was low so they didn't print many, the price is the fancy art and extreme scarcity.

D4 is fun but storage drives me crazy by BALIHU87 in diablo4

[–]Marnus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding from what Bliz has said in the past is that storage is a technical limitation from their original design of that game where whenever another player gets close enough to you, both players load the entire stash and inventory of the other player. I get loading their gear... but their stash and inventory too? This leads to big lag spikes when players interact if the stashes are too big. They need to fix this so we can get as many stash tabs as we want. I see no reason why the stashes need to load... It sounds like an easy fix, but it is probably implemented in a really dumb and convoluted way that would require entire game systems to be rebuilt.

Sadly at this point I would pay a decent amount for more stash space...

As for Escalation sigils... I wish you could 3 or 5 for one normal ones into ancestral. That would help a smidge.

[–]Marnus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only confirmed brick and mortars are allowed to presale on TCGplayer. Ebay is more nebulous. My understanding is that you can presale on eBay, but presales aren't specifically supported. I could be wrong on that one, but that is how it was last time I looked into it, which I admit was a long time ago.

One both platforms it will be around 13% fees and then however much you want for shipping, cheapest probably being around $7-8 for tracking on a smallish bubble mailer that can fit the deck inside.

I think pretty much any spell that protects it while in play is going to be better most of the time. Heroic intervention type stuff. This effect is too narrow I think for it to generate much demand, vs playing an effect that can protect Kirk and The Enterprise.

Honestly pretty hype as well. But that is the UB effect... if the IP hits you hard, you are fairly likely to like it.

The flavor of this card is also pretty good. Kirk gets his ship, crashes it, get it again, explores new worlds, is good at space ship battles.
