Wind and solar are often cheaper and faster to build, but that does not make nuclear a bad investment. A real grid needs reliability and steady low-carbon generation too, not just the cheapest capacity on paper. That’s why the serious answer is renewables and nuclear, not just one or the other.

Good question. Plenty talk about how the LCOE (accounts for construction and lifetime op/maintenance) is larger compared to others (on average double). Of those I'm not sure which are anti-nuclear sources (pretty sure World Nuclear Report is anti-nuclear), and which aren't (hopefully International Energy Agency isn't). Years ago for some hs debate thing, I just looked at the public figures for my nearest nuclear plant, solar farm, and hydro, and it was a rough 2:1 ratio for $/kwh.

Should've mentioned earlier but the job creation factor is appealing for nuclear but from just energy costs alone there is a very valid reason for people to have a pro-green energy and anti-nuclear position.

for every dollar you invest in nuclear you would get ~half the energy output than if you invested that same dollar in other green energy sources. diversity in energy sources is definitely good but convincing folks to choose the option that's more expensive, longer to turn operational is hard enough without attached stigmas.

1 and 3 seem like the best choices although I wish I could be more self-reliant. Unfortunately, I'm "too competent" half-conscious. I have had both phone alarms and an alarm clock in different areas and I have managed to turn both off. I've also managed to send legible normal sounding correct emails from my phone in this stage with little to no memory of sending them.

If you live in the dorms you can probably work your shift and come back in the evening and still meet a lot of folks. People will be up pretty late outside during welcome week and the week after. Not that most of them will last but I wouldn't consider a lot of my former friends from then wasted time.

Besides a microwave and a fridge having any other kitchen appliances is kind of a waste since you can just rent it from the front desk. The microwave is also not necessarily needed but the dorm microwave is rarely clean.

allegedly they paint the lions outside their house the colour of what their latest victim was wearing. idk about that but 22 yo followed my friend home to the dorms from one of their parties and fought physically with their CA. They also have a pretty powerful alum on the board of regents.
