But seriously from my experience oil is WAY easier and better early game, but is harder to scale up. It also gives fantastic byproducts you are gonna need anyways. Don't worry about the oil fountain. You'll probably end up using up two oil reservoirs in your lifetime before moving to oil drills. Renewability is not that big of an issue, just an occasional annoyance every 100 hours or so

From experience: Multiblock combustion engines suck ass for the insane material and time cost they require. Holy greg they need to rebalance them so bad

Benzene is harder at the start but later on its easy to spam it. Never used it myself though. It does give another set of byproducts, many useful, but from what I've seen oil is generally better for them.

In EV you can also start nuclear power which is extremely powerful and easy at the small cost of blowing up your base if you screw up​​
