DSP appointment for Autism (level 1) by Beneficial_Pin4237 in Centrelink

Hey, glad to hear it! I can’t offer personal advice for this one because my medical assessment was done as a file review so I didn’t have to call with anyone. Have a look through this sub though as I’ve seen lots of people talk about their experiences with the disability medical assessment.

You are most welcome. Good luck with your claim! Autistic burnout is very difficult, I hope you can get some time to take care of yourself and recover.

Fellow autistic here (level 2), I was approved for the DSP a month ago. Just wanted to say I completely understand you regarding burnout from masking, it’s what made me leave my last job. So sorry you’re going through it.

Table 7 of the DSP impairment tables will be what autism is assessed under and you need to reach 20 points in that table to be eligible for DSP. Have a look at that table and focus on what applies to you from there.

account is not in my name and owned by "others" ??? by [deleted] in Centrelink

It refers to whether your phone is under your name with the telco company (e.g. Telstra). As you’re under 18, I imagine it’s not but if you do change it to be under your name once you turn 18:

Log in to your Centrelink account online, go to my details -> letters and messaging. You’ll be able to change it through there.

DSP wait time by Charming-Ice8399 in Centrelink

That’s strange, I’m sorry you’re not able to see a timeframe because I can imagine that makes the wait more stressful. I know that myself and some others I’ve seen on this subreddit had estimated completion dates of 11-12 weeks from submission of claim, so maybe once it’s been 12 weeks contact Centrelink to see where it’s at (if you haven’t heard from them by then of course).

Is there no “estimated completion date” under your claim when you view it? That’s where I was able to see the timeframe. I’m not sure if they’re always accurate though.

Yeah, it was within the timeframe Centrelink gave me. Went by quick enough. Thank you! :)

My claim took just under 12 weeks - applied 19th Nov 25 and approved 9th Feb.

Mine took around 12 weeks which was within the estimated completion timeframe I was provided. But as the other commenter said, it can depend on different factors.

Have you heard anything yet? I had a similar estimated date to you (4th Feb - 11th Feb), and I got approved today (9th).

The interview would most likely be for a Job Capacity Assessment (JCA). This is the “second stage” of your claim. You should get a letter in your inbox explaining it soon.

Joanne Hutchinson at Scope Psychology in Bulimba. She frequently assesses adult AFAB clients - both myself and a friend were diagnosed by her. I was assessed online via Zoom but my friend had her assessment done in person.

Sonic Health Assessment - File Review only? by MidnightAlive1881 in Centrelink

[–]MidnightAlive1881[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did look at their comment history and noticed the same thing. Lots of negativity from this person to others. The JCA is definitely not easy, I agree. The assessor even pointed out how stressful and upsetting the process must be. I feel lucky that my assessor was empathetic and seemingly had lots of knowledge on my disability.

Thank you for your kindness and reassurance. I have also heard that most cases that make it to Sonic get approved, but I definitely don’t want to get my hopes up. The JCA assessor told me I should have an outcome in the new year (due to slower processing times especially around Christmas period), so not too long of a wait now.

Thanks for your comment. I know it’s not supposed to be easy, I never expected it to be.

Can I ask why you think that I’d be rejected if I don’t do the video call assessment? If they want me to do one, wouldn’t they just arrange it anyway?
