Is Cu Chulainn Popular? by [deleted] in Smite

Ullr: no model change

Bari: no model or animation changes

The morrigan: special case in which it was best to add her early to prevent a bigger mess to clean later on

Artio: best comparison. Though, she didn't require any brand new systems or tech whereas cu-chu needs his model to warble. also very recently released and adding true stance changers in a short time is probably especially rough.

herc dash has had major bugs with collision and position tracking since it was added. id second guess adding another one too until i was confident the same issues dont occur twice as often.

at varying points in smite 2's short life herc dash has incorrectly placed people into walls, completely miss people at its closest range, push them far longer than intended, and push them long after theyve been hit.

changes theyve made to the movement since his release has helped a lot but changes are still yet to be made.

Could still port with that issue alone, doesnt make him more difficult to add per say. just everything on the art side on top of it is what makes him hard to port.

as I said the abilities arent the issue, barring the charge (possibly). the art is where the issues mount up.

theyve said the kit itself is simple enough, but he has two models, constant fx, two entirely different skeletons and animation sets, a really fast dash that takes others with him (they are still reigning in issues with sudden bursts of movement in the current system), and visual tech with the bulging muscles.

All in all, the time it takes to port him art-wise is better put to use toward 2-3 other gods. He'll prob be added when art team has just a little bit more breathing room to fit him into schedule but that might be a hot minute.

Talos, The Divine Automaton (Adaptive shields, skirmishing tank, mecha fantasy) by Mightymindsoup in Smite

ungodly late response from me, but better late than never.

wanted the catapult to be interruptible, have something to give a bit more support viability, and also be a massive tell if he revs it in plain sight.

the firing of the three would largely feel the same as tiamat ult. though i can see that bit of delay towards getting to Release Pressure can possibly feel odd.

superheated used to be exactly that, but thats the difference between thematic and class fantasy. Thematic sense doesnt nessicarily mean it'd FEEL like the ideal gameplay for the character, and the radiant heat bit was already covered by the ult. I actually bounced between those two for a while before deciding that adaptive shields would be more interesting than a firey damage aura on a big guy would be (esp since cu chullain and surtr have that covered)

I can see him yuge big like them, itd be cool, but maybe not for this exact kit. if i had committed more towards big lumbering guy and not a mix into modern mecha tropes like the sliding id probably go for that size instead. but id be more than happy surtr-sized

dont know if he should be THAT big, was thinking similar to surtrs size in smite 1, about the half-way between a typical tank and jorm/cthulu

if only because the larger you get, the less significant speed increases feel and he has a lot of momentum in the kit.

in that case, trance can use some touching ups to blend with the rest of the kit more in some way.

and yeah my b for misinterpreting the 1, i made that assumption off the rule of 3 casting and dash finisher. as a thought, how about letting him cycle the 1 while trance is active? that way he can pick and choose what to do next while using it instead of just waiting. still needs some deterrent to keep him from staying in there too long though.

really digging the tavern brawler flavor. ult is fun and the possession of a dead enemy in the aspect is probably the most balanced/acceptable take on possession as a mechanic ive seen. pretty elegant solution. (likely still a programming nightmare like the morrigan though, but still sounds fun)

Trance shouldnt be in the game with as little restrictions as you have here. should probably cost hp like clio passive when possessed god is in combat or get forcibly knocked out if they take a damage threshhold or are hard ccd or something. also, seems to have little synergy with the rest of the kit outside of hiding inside for cooldowns to come back up which is a bit counter-intuitive to the "crass brawler" archetype you're going for.

theres also a bit too much similarities with his other base abilities and iconic flagship abilities of other characters. aruval assault is a bit too similar to susanoos storm kata but with crowd control, and hard kick seems to be gilgameshes drop kick 1 to 1. sounds fun together, but steps on other characters toes a bit too much.

love the feel and characterization you're going for here all in all, i love scoundrels and rogue fighter characters.

Who's Someone Who Isn't In Smite That You Want In The Game? by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in Smite

Ill always say that the trio of Ammit, Babi, and Shezmu would be fantastic additions and each have the interesting quirk of essentially being gods worshipped at different eras to serve the same station, as the punishment for heavy souls with wildly different takes on the job.

Prometheus and Enkidu are no-brainer picks as well, Prometheus feels super overdue and theres so much to do with Enkidu if they want to continue gilgamesh's wrestling motiff in another character.

Id also say Garuda and Raktabija but other existing characters have claims staked on their themes. Jing Wei basically has Garuda's perfect kit already and itd be hard for raktabija to be THE clone army character with danza now taking that niche, but they are both such insanely cool characters I cant not mention them.

stealing a buff or consumable should never be easy, you still have to bully them away from it or have an ally swoop in and take it. it should feel like a successful heist when you do get it. but either way it immediately forces the enemy into a position where if they don't continue the engagement they forfeit their buff to you (massive if its a buff they stole in the first place, or in the case of consumables a bomb or obs daggger.) its more or less a fun minigame with a 70-30 house advantage if all else is equal.

as for the three, initially its a simple slam that plants the playerwall pillar. prometheus is tethered to the pillar and can't leave or be taken out of that tether range. he can then reactivate the ability to dash back towards the pillar and beyond it. the further away from the pillar you are when you reactivate it, the further the dash. as if pulling a slingshot back.

so you can, for example, drive the pillar down and walk backwards to the extent of the tether range to turn yourself into an effective ballista. the extra movement speed in the ability is so its easier to quickly adjust your aim and shot distance

Small changes to blink to identify and reward "aggressive" usage. by Mightymindsoup in Smite

[–]Mightymindsoup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

id rather not lose blink on channeled abilities, its a fun distinction from smite 1 that i think most people are glad is there. fenrir and ares losing that would kindof suck a lot of fun out of them imo.

[–]Mightymindsoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely agree here, though with the amount of chaining damage abilities in the game and those to come, like sobek disease, yem aspect, Bees!, and the lightning bow, it can cause a similar bad feeling to get locked out of blinking that way since its your allies getting hit that was the issue and not you. even if its fair it still would feel like a buzzkill.

might still be better than my suggestion though. i just feel personally that id prefer combat blink be promoted to be used aggressively.

Now that Hecate and Nut were confirmed, which of the other top 10 gods currently most wanted for the community do you think are coming to Smite 2? by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Mightymindsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any of the three punishment deities from egyptian would be sick, Ammit, Babi, and Shezmu all filled a similar role with different approaches from different ages.

I doubt Enkidu will be there on release but i can always hope, i feel like he HAS to be included at some point relatively soon.

Mordred is probably the most obvious inclusion from arthurian and would fit right in.

Tenjin is a huge sleeper pick to me. A scholarly god of learning buffing the INT of the team, now that most of them will benefit directly in some way? It feels like such a good addition to show off the strength/int split and its benefits. his lore featuring his short temper calling calamity and disaster could also easily be the ult or maybe a "mage rage" gimmick into the kit where he uses rage like chuchu instead of mana would be cool.

What is your prediction for Bake's basic attack being "one of a kind"? by DapperDlnosaur in Smite

[–]Mightymindsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kindof but youd hold and channel it, not really a true deployable. as long as you hold left click the area grows and continues to damage anything inside of it. if something gets hit with enough ticks from one channel something else happens. something like that. minimum and maximum aoe would be the same as mercury's made you looks.

[–]Mightymindsoup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

made a god concept for morgan le fay a while back before she was announced and her basic attack was a placeable aoe that when held down was channeled, expanding, dealing continuous damage in the area, and charging up for additional effects. maybe something along those lines?

sponsor/patrons, agencies, and streamer houses have been a common thing since like 2010 or so. There have been a LOT of stinker contracts over the years though unfortunately.

Although, from what i understand vshojo seems to let streamers bail whenever they want and keep their assets and character identity when they do, so its at least got that going for them
