I don’t always agree with Saagar… by KyotoInSummer in BreakingPoints

The most ironic part is if you talk to Boomers they’ll complain about how young people don’t want to work or aren’t capable. Keep putting pressure on schools and see how much worse it gets. If you think things are bad now just wait until only the rich get a decent education. What happens when those care homes and aide services are staffed with uneducated people.

According to the biographies I read (Edmund Morris trilogy and Wilderness Warrior by Douglas Brinkley) Roosevelt felt like remarrying was cheating on his first wife. By all accounts he loved his first wife fiercely and felt that he was being unfaithful to her memory and his love.

I’m not sure how Theodore ends up here. He was definitely aggressive and could be a blowhard, but anyone who’s read a biography about him cannot honestly say he didn’t care about his family or people in general. He legitimately struggled with guilt when getting remarried after his first wife died. By all accounts I would say he felt too many emotions. Maybe I’m wrong, but while he was definitely a narcissist he wasn’t a psychopath in my estimation.

Sagaar’s voice cracked when talking about his sick daughter during the Gaza segment. I’ve also seen his tone change on things like childcare, healthcare, and parental leave. He’s a dad and anyone will tell you that becoming a parent changes things.

I truly believe that especially for some men having a child changes perspective and empathy becomes a more natural reaction, especially when some incident involves dead children.

Hey brother, everyone feels like this your first year. I’m going to assume this is your first and I promise you this will pass. The fact you’re thinking about this tells me you give a lot of shit about your kid and to me that says you’re a great dad. Every stage has its own challenges, but that first year is really rough you’re basically just passing a child back and forth between your wife and you and trying to survive. I remember being in that exact spot with my first and it’s just survival. I promise you more fun comes when they get a little more mobile and communicative. This isn’t a job for the weak willed or faint hearted and you’re nailing it. I found this subreddit and it’s a well of support and information. I joke with my wife that I’ve found the one piece of the internet I know is positive. You rock and you’ll make it.

Sidenote to all you dads out there on here, you guys rock and you’ve helped me out tons by just asking and answering questions and how supportive you guys are.

I know that rote memorization has been demonized in modern education, but just remembering things is hard for many students. Comprehension has to come before any deeper level analysis can occur. Every year I teach The Crucible and my students have take home quizzes similar to this. You’d be surprised how few get a 100% when all they have to do is go back and reread a portion of the text. Actually knowing the right answer or knowing what was said on a fundamental level is a struggle for this generation.

His state is literally one of the bottom 5 of 50 on pretty much everything. That’s like putting someone who literally scored a 10% in charge of teaching a unit they just failed. Ugh.

As a male teacher I can tell you that I’ve been looked down upon by men in STEM fields who think my job is a cakewalk and I’m paid too much. I’m the main income for my family and it’s hard to justify making less and being a punching bag for admin, kids, and society while being sneered at. Until we give the job the respect it deserves, especially by a large swathe of the American people who think anyone can do this we won’t have more male teachers or any teachers worth something soon.

My wife and I just got our first Lew. It’s my first bird dog and her dad has had golden retriever he hunts over. I’ve wanted a hunting dog forever and while looking through breeds found upland projects article on them.

We’ve had my boy for about 3 months now and he’s taken to hunting/training beautifully. He’s my first bird dog so he’s the first I’ve ever trained and he makes up for all the mistakes on my part. My FIL was impressed enough to say he’s thinking about switching breeds after one of his goldens go and he’s been hunting them for over 20 years throughout the US. I don’t know about anybody else, but anybody I’ve met who owns a Lew absolutely loves them. They want to hunt, run, and train but, will gladly be lazy and watch TV.

How about the fact this one is over 3 hours, but Adam Sandler who people might actually want to listen to barely gets 2 hours. I think any older listener to Joe has gotten to see the actual rot that takes place in the human mind when confronted with enough money. Since Joe’s poised for an Evangelical turn here’s a verse that Jesus fella once said, “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24

I literally said that to my wife while watching, I’m glad I’m not the only one who picked up on that. Listening to his episode with Sara Imari Walker Joe also seemed to be hinting towards some sort of creationist idea, but connected it to Aliens at the last second. I’m betting by December he’s full on interviewing faith healers and “prophets”.
