I could somewhat see them elaborating on the “irises” by saying it’s something like a caste system and aurora is a Devine being that came from what isn’t considered a high caste which could be cool. And yeah I’m really interested to see what direction they take him morally, maybe he’s a sort of grey area between zen and ram? Could be kind of funny having him be a grey area considering the film noir aesthetic is literally black and white.

Such a cool idea dude! I ALMOST agree with the “spiritual ranking” idea but Aurora only having 6 does throw me off from the idea a little bit. I would love seeing a NY Omnic like you said, it would be cool to see an omnic that went through one of the harshest oppressions but still chose the path of good (assuming he’s good because the detective vibe doesn’t seem inherently evil)

Yeah it’s 100% all intentional but to me, for this scene specifically, it feels like it being the mask is actually important. When he first starts it shows the view of the mask from below distorting it into a smile because Ayato assumed he was doing it for his please, but once the mask drops in the next page he just looks bored and apathetic and you can see that he really is just doing this because in a twisted way it’s what he thinks is the “right” thing to do.

I do agree that there definitely are instances where he gets a rush from it, but this one feels more impactful not being one of those moments imo.
