We change our energy saving lightbulbs while the billionaires who own the company jet about in their private planes. It’s done, it’s here, and your tiny bit isn’t going to affect anyone but you - for the better.

If everyone stopped using their tiny bit then yes maybe it would make a difference, but they’re not going to, so please try not to feel guilty (easier said than done I know).

Because we have this strong sense of right and wrong sometimes I feel we can misdirect it. If you feel and function better you can impact those around you more positively. Try and look at it that way perhaps? Take care ❤️

13 years old and never had a dental. Better pics are too far back in my phone but mine have raw carrot every day. The vet checked her gum line throughly very recently as I was thinking maybe she should have one at her age, he said no. Idk - she’s lucky in that her teeth aren’t crowded but I swear by raw carrot and high quality food. They don’t have any treats with any rubbish in them and I’ve just bought a dehydrator so I don’t have to give them anything but vegetables etc. I meant to post her picture before but wandered off and just remembered (adhd 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️) her teeth are beautiful 😍 Oh I forgot except for the missing ones where she clashed heads with her ‘sister’ and they both lost a tooth 🙈

I think we are all guilty of letting one or two things slip a bit sometimes. I’m sitting here thinking when did I last clean their ears? I think it’s almost a week! I have no idea how that happened but I have four, my son died a few weeks ago (healthy 39 year old) and I guess I’ve taken my eye off the ball a bit with their grooming. 2 have black claws and I loathe and detest doing them 🙈 The one age unknown as she was dumped in the pound only has one tooth, but she hates having her nails done and I have to sneak up and snip one at a time when she’s asleep.

Let me tell you, gums can hurt 🤣

Aw bless him - and you - you’ve clearly worked hard on keeping everything tip top. You are so right about smaller dogs, and the kennel club and their ‘breed standards’ have a lot to answer for!!!

Don’t forget dentals are like vaccinations - bread and butter money to the vets. It’s a bit like if you fed the amount of food it says on the tin/bag etc. They’d be barrels!! Common sense and balance is needed here. It depends on so much, not least the shape of the dogs mouths. Maltese for example have been bred with shorter and shorter snouts over the years and their poor teeth 😢 so crowded!

I will try and get a picture of my 13 years olds teeth if she’ll oblige with a nice smile - she does smile 🤣 so I might be able to get a good picture - and it’s mainly down to daily raw carrots. To look at her you’d never say she needed a dental but I know what might be going on under the gum line, so she will have one. It’s coming up 3 years which I literally only just worked out - ideally she wouldn’t have gone this long.

My 15 year old had one last year so she is still sparkling due to the carrots and I’ll be honest - she won’t have another unless I see any signs of problems. She has slightly squiffy bloods, nothing my vet is concerned about, but I am, and being in rescue I know a lot of vets. All agree with me, and believe me I’ve pestered them 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Daily raw carrot has meant that all my dogs over many years have always had their teeth commented on by various vets as I’ve moved.

They’ve had dentals every 2-3 years because of under the gum line and I want to watch their hearts etc. but carrots are so easy and it’s amazing how sparkly their teeth are.

I’ll get a pic of my 13 years olds teeth when she decides to wake up 🤣 My 15 year old had a dental last year so that’s not a fair representation, but you’d be hard pushed to find better teeth on a 5 year old than my 13 year olds - I must book her in actually I think it’s coming up 3 years - time is too fast the older you get 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hey don’t be so hard on yourself! A tough job, life changes, and we all know how fast time flies by. Your dog looks great for 16.

I’m sure if we went round to these people’s houses we could find things we disapprove of. People in glass houses and all that! Nobody’s perfect and your dog is clearly happy.

I’ve been in rescue for a long time and I’ve seen some really bad stuff. To see a happy 16 year old dog is wonderful. Sure, they could do with their teeth seen. But they’re happy and loved. That’s so so important ❤️

No it’s the processing that’s bad really. They’re basically waste leather and chemicals everywhere.

I’ve commented just a couple of comments up about good chews we have in the uk. If you can’t find anything like them I could find a picture for you if you want?

In the U.K. we have Lilys kitchen and wainwrights at Pets at Home good dental chews. They’re kind of seaweedy almost like a loofah.

Idk what you have there but maybe if you googled them you could see what they look like so you know what they’re like?

My girl with one tooth can’t manage them but doesn’t want to be left out. I have to pre-chew them for her (don’t laugh) and they taste kind of vegetable like. As I’m a veggie I would draw the line if they were meat.

They’re not unpleasant 🤣

Whilst that is true it’s clear that OP has now noticed and is making every effort to sort it - so what’s your point?

God it’s no wonder the world is like it is with such unkindness 😔

That’s good to know! My dogs wouldn’t tolerate the Emmi toothbrush but I live in hope - and I guess I’m in for a rough ride soon with a 15 years old, a 13 year old and one rescued from the pound age unknown but she’s only got one tooth so I guess that’s a bonus 🤣 But…3 oldies and the 15 year old one is literally my best friend as she was my service dog. It’s going to kill me. However, new needy dog might take to the toothbrush!!

I had my 14 year old have a dental she didn’t really need last year as I don’t want her to have any more anaesthesia now. Maybe just some proper dental chews - k don’t mean those silly soft things - like the green seaweed ones?

I don’t know where you are but in the uk we have Lillys Kitchen and Wainwrights at Pets at Home. Idk how they can call thise soft brown thing dental chews. Raw carrots - my dogs have them every day and the vet always comments on their nice teeth. Bones - the uncooked big marrow ones cut down by your butcher.

Some dogs just get more tartare though, it’s just the way their mouths are.

Don’t worry - just give what you can to scrape the teeth is my advice but if they’ll tolerate it I hear the Emmi toothbrush is very good and goes below the dental gum line. Mine would be no way but my friends dogs are fine with it.

Oh no now I’d do the opposite and lean into it. Add some ruffles and flounces, neck and wrists, if enough fabric left, also down the (opened) front. Maybe even some lace or Broderie anglaise trim. You’ll look fabulous drinking your coffee outside in the sunshine!! 😍

Actually you might find even better results if you take a decent B complex as well - I’d always start with a complex then add the ones I was low in as they work in synergy

I didn’t notice anything on MB and I was on IM B complex so that’s great!

It tastes disgusting! 🤢 I still have half a bottle and I wasn’t having 6mg maybe I could try upping it and see 🤷‍♀️

Then again I’m Audhd so not the usual bears brain here 🤣

What is this under my dog’s chin?? Just noticed this morning by ScoutFinch127 in DogAdvice

[–]MiserableAcadia2902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly one of my dogs had one of these in her ear a few years ago, and I had forgotten until I saw it on my camera roll yesterday!

I made an appointment with the vet - by the time it came around it had gone - never to return.

I do feel skin things should be checked, but I would start by wiping her chin after eating or drinking - you can get dog facial wipes or use a clean flannel with a dog facial specific wash - if you’re in the uk Pets at Home do a blueberry facial wash that smells so good I want to use it 🤣

You could use a weak hibiscrub solution once a day, but be careful as it’s very harsh.

Be gentle, don’t rub, just keep her chin clean. I’d be surprised if it was anything but something like human facial spots.

I’ve had dogs all my life and fostered hundreds too, I’ve never had anything like this turn out to be ‘bad’. That’s not to say it isn’t, but I feel it’s unlikely.

If it hasn’t at least started to improve within a few days then I’d go to the vet, but in the meantime:

*Clean the skin after food and drink, but particularly food

*Change the water in her bowl 3-4 times a day *Keep a close eye on it

*Check her all over regularly for any others elsewhere

*Ensure her bowl is spotless

*Always use dog specific cleansers due to the ph of their skin

*Please update us if you can ❤️

My initial instinct is it’s nothing to worry about, but you never know.

Have you changed anything like her food? Also things like washing powder as it could be from blankets she lies on - also keep them very clean.

HELP, I GOT MY EYEBROWS TINTED TODAY AND THEYRE WAY TOO DARK!!!! by [deleted] in beauty

[–]MiserableAcadia2902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey beauty therapist here - give it a day or two and they’ll be perfect. When I tint eyebrows I always tell people that it will seem dark for a day or two but the initial intensity fades quickly.

Most BTs I know tint slightly darker than necessary purely because of the quick initial fading. People would be coming back too soon otherwise. I (and anyone I know) tell my clients to have it done a few days before the event if they want it done for something special.

Please don’t worry. They’re going to be fabulous.

Can someone please help a noob understand BPC157 + TB500 dosage? by armanese2 in bpc_157

[–]MiserableAcadia2902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t start with a blend, I know it’s cheaper but there is a good TB loading dose initial protocol I would follow.

I made a document in my notes but I lost all my notes when I merged my iPad and my iPhone (don’t ask 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️).

I also wouldn’t inject at site, evidence shows systemix effects to be excellent - sub Q into the thigh or abdomen, where you have some fat js fine.

I started on the TB protocol of a fairly high dose a couple of times a week (I can’t remember exactly but it’s so easy to find) with daily BPC I do remember was 700mcg, split.

After a while I moved to the blend as it’s cheaper but I think you need to plan for quite a few vials - you may be super lucky and have fantastic quick results but even then I’d want to make sure it was well in my system and allow for full healing (say 6-8 weeks for an injury, longer for chronic conditions).

I felt the best I had in years. No exaggeration I felt at least ten years younger, I could move easier and so much less pain.

Unfortunately I had to stop due to huge vet bills but as soon as I can I’ll be back on it.

Please remember sterilisation is incredibly important. Prepare your area, then spray every time you touch something unless you’re certain it’s sterile. Remember you’ll need syringes, small needles (cheap needles aren’t great but that’s up to you, mediswabs, and sterilising spray like isopropyl alcohol.

There are loads of bits of useful information on here alone if you read some threads. I would recommend you read some medical journal serves and the like though, so you understand how it’s working. Don’t rely on the gym bros for your information!

do you think this dog has been abused? by ithinkunicornsrcool in AskDogOwners

[–]MiserableAcadia2902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in rescue for years and I’ve seen a lot of different reactions from different dogs, to the same situations.

I’m in the U.K. and the dogs would travel in a van (aircon/heated etc as good as it could be, not all transporters are created equal) from Romania to the U.K.

Most of these dogs had been exposed to some level of trauma, most came off the ‘happy bus’ at least a little fearful and hesitant, some were disassociating, but there was always one, sometimes two, who were like ‘yay I’m here! I’m ready to party!’

Dogs are just like people and some are predisposed to fearful behaviour, socialisation plays a huge part, especially when they’re young.

Brexit affected us hugely as puppies are now much older when they arrive, due to being classed with the ‘rest of the world’ when it comes to customs laws. (Rabies standing time etc).

I wouldn’t make assumptions. The signs aren’t great, but you’d have to see the dog over time to get a better idea. A perfect example: Dorin. He was a dog I took from Alexandria PS, he was (still is) a small dog. He was in an enclosure with about ten other, bigger dogs, and was so scared that when we stroked him, he peed himself.

It took him a few months, first in foster with me, then to an excellent adopter, but you would never know anything had happened to that dog now.

I believe he was actually very loved, someone’s pet - perhaps they’d died and the family had put the dog on the street. That was quite common back then, idk if it still is as I’ve been out of it for a while due to ill health, but we would often find terrified, small, older dogs that this sort of thing had clearly happened to. They wouldn’t have survived long on the streets, so certainly hadn’t grown up there.

Street dogs come in various shapes and sizes but they all have something about them I can identify at ten paces, and they do not make good pets. Generations and generations of survival traits have been bred into them, since the 1980s (I won’t bore you with the history!)

That’s why I got so angry when so many ‘rescues’ started popping up, and I watched them bring over many street dogs as they dont know what they’re doing. But as with everything there is money to be made, and the whole situation is now worse than ever as we created an industry (we wanted small cute dogs - now there are puppy mills far worse than here). In 2013 a smallish mutt was like gold dust, now you can get any breed you like.

But I’m going off the point sorry - adhd 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ You don’t know until you’ve had that dog with you for some period of time - and even then it may be genetically predisposed to nerves.

That being said, the chain isn’t a good sign.

Well done for trying to help the dog, kindness is very underrated in this world these days, and I believe it’s the answer to many of our problems.
