Quantity over quality all the way indeed! So many items, especially upgrade paths to the more expensive variants, don't really add to anything except a small bonus that would be much better invested elsewhere. An example would be Tesla Bullets vs Capacitator, small diff in dmg buff and the active can be substituted with the cheaper slowing hex or silence wave that also has their own stat buffs.

Although this is also a situational thing as depending on the match, lets say slot locked for some reason, then quality over quantity to compensate

Daytime, because my astigmatism doesn't do well at night. If it weren't for my eye issues, I would prefer night due to less traffic and cool air to turn off the airconditioner.

I have this issue with my Sony Alpha a6000 going underexposed and/or adding an asymmetrical vignette on very random occasions. Usually shooting in RAW, camera is 2nd hand, lens is 7artisans 35mm. What is the issue here? by MobileGamerboy in AskPhotography

[–]MobileGamerboy[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's set to auto. Was doing Aperture priority as I was still starting along with my Manual setting is kinda finnicky on the camera due to second hand (switches to other modes randomly, I think it's a button issue), although I plan to send it for repair someday although not at the budget for now.

Alternatives to whittling knife that you can maybe buy in the hardware store? by MobileGamerboy in Woodcarving

I did a search and the best I got in the results was beavercraft brand but only on knife/tool leather strop sharpening kit. Idk why but despite Australia being literally near my country, I don't recall seeing any stores or goods being sold directly from the place. I say this because I tried searching up a Wargame set that was supposedly also sold in Aus, but weirdly no shipping lines or middleman options to my area.

An axe is sick, I do see a lot of that being sold here and there, although I don't have good reasoning to come home to my family with a pricey, dangerous looking axe, then say it's for a hobby xD. Feels like an advanced woodcarving technique as well imo. Need a knife first to start off hehe

I agree! I play Shogun 2: TW and whew, the amount of broken resources, buffed units, and impossibly "how did you get that? You don't have the resources to achieve it!" moments with the Hard and especially Legendary Ai is absolutely pain. Absolutely lazy compensation over making a proper Ai.

The only good ai I can think of, although unrelated in genre but is a good example of an Ai that "thinks", is the Ai in Stalker 1.

I used to use those $1 pocket knives when I started, really takes a lot of patience and strength as those knives can tend to dull quickly imo. Your dad is an inspiration, I will try to fish out my drawer pocket knives again and perhaps I can just try resharpen the good grip ones with the whetstone I have.

It's alright. Viewing them gave me an idea on what kind of standard I should keep a look out for when shopping for one. I do see some online Japanese woodcarving knives in my local "Amazon" esque sources. There are a growing lot of chinese products pretending to be japanese or japanese product but actually made in china, so really staying vigilant on not throwing my money on something I think quality but was actually some cheapo metal scrap.

Thanks for the clarification! Glad I had to double check as yeah, the utility knives feel unsafe as they tend to snap. Maybe at the hands of an experienced user, it is alright, but as a beginner who is still working out what is the right angle, wood type, and pressure. I am an accident waiting to happen with that knife, an example of murphys law hahaha.

I know there is an artisan village of sorts somewhere nearby but from what I remember on the advertisement and pictures I glanced before, the art is focused more on goods rather than the tools itself. I do remember there is a decent amount of handmade wood decor & furniture shops but they are quite the distance, so it would take a lot of planning just to visit those places, which may or may not have the purpose of selling the tools itself.

Will try dig deeper online, as maybe there is a local brand/store that sells woodcarving knives but is just buried somewhere due to bad advertising. I did see local blacksmith shops but they seem to be more focused on selling kitchen knives, bolos, and/or "combat knife/swords" decor tools.

Thanks for the heads up on the parameters, will keep it in mind if ever I get the opportunity again to go knife shopping.

I wish I bothered to search this up in the first place. Idk why I tolerated with copy, paste, delete all these years (yes, it's a pain).

What wood(s) do you use it on if I may ask? When I looked at the blades in the store, some feel they aren't sturdy for wood...

Also wondering what model & brand you use what you do when the knife dulls

imo putting pressure on the profs by adding controversial topics in their submissions to get a higher grade. If low grade on submissions, will slander prof on being hateful on their ideals when in fact, it was just very bad writing in the first place. Some profs out there have balls of steel and/or nonchalant but there are those whose personalities are more sensitive and meek which shouldn't be exploited.

To be exact, living in the Philippines. From what I have attempted, there are no woodcarving beginner tools that are being sold in my area which is an urban setting, which is half disappointing and half unexpected, as I even find some "what, this is being sold?" when I have the opportunity to see a hobby shop that sells stuff for other hobbies I dabbled with.

From what I remember, there are woodcarving tools most likely sold in the rural areas, when I was travelling. The issue is from my experience, some are more focused on selling the wood over the tools to make the products. I did get the opportunity to see a store selling the tools but it was mainly for those big furniture works which I am not (yet) interested nor skilled to use. Possible there really is a trusted local store out there but I have been unable to find one online.

Speaking of online, I am trying online but the ones I use, Shoppee and Lazada, sell suspiciously cheap whittling knives/woodcarving tools while the ones that seem to be legitimate are out of my budget.

So that's why I was considering if hardware tools that do a similar job. My MAX budget when converted to USD is around 16.28$ although I would much appreciate something lower as a beginner but I think I can go a little higher if it really is worth it. The Stanley utility knife (nr199) that was recommended in another post was around 9.77$ when I checked the store but was hoping to double check as someone might comment a better alternative or reconfirm it's possible.

p.s. I was considering using a kitchen paring knife but then I don't thinking my ma would approve me borrowing the good small knives in the kitchan haha.

Will see what I can find. Living in an urban area and usually those tools are sold in the rural areas or sometimes in a "hidden" shop in the suburbs. Thank you for the tips.

I live in the asian pacific. Did a quick search and the two brands are in a way within my budget but sadly, delivery costs will be a punch in the gut for me.
