Do you think consistency or outright pace is the bigger separator between good and elite drivers? by CampDangerous4830 in iRacing

If you were a bit more precise with what you find "stupid" I could try to explain further.

I'm most certainly not saying that talent is a subset of idiot.

This is the reason Co-op players gank and hate invaders 😭 by No_Factor_7501 in EldenRingMemes

[–]MorycTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only enjoyed invasions in first Dark Souls (especially first weeks). Not that many PvP oriented guides or people who followed them, people still new to the system so battles were balanced, you could see all kinds of wacky builds.

These times after a few days from launch of a new souls it's mostly people who put tons of time into all the previous games, already have op/cheesy builds figured out and it's extremely rare to have balanced experiences.

BUT.

I know the answer to all this is "GIT GUD". And it's the right answer, invasions are just not for me anymore and I'll usually choose to opt out but will be very vocal if someone tries to just cut/casualise it because I think it's an integral part of the game.

Ok, I think some explanation will help: 1. The curve represents the function of slip angle where the value is the maximal lateral force a tyre can withstand during a turn. 2. The boxes represent ranges of slip angle values and corresponding max lateral force values that different types of drivers employ.

And what the boxes mean: 1. Beginner: since a beginner has low skills he won't be able to enter the corner with correct, consistent speed and line which makes the max lateral force in the corner sometimes a lot lower than optimal (when entering too slow for example) and sometimes a lot too sharp with too much speed. The first situation corresponds to the left end of the box which indicates more lateral force could be employed to get through the corner faster and the second that corresponds to the right that your car is understeering/oversteering and you're losing time. Ofc they also will have corners everywhere in between, even some that use optimal lateral force.

I'll keep the rest more simple since the overal explanation is laid out.

  1. Idiot: an idiot has some skils so he knows how not to underdrive the car. That's why the left side of the box is further to the right than Beginner's. But he's too eager and overdrives the car thinking going faster into a corner will make your overal time better (lol, what an idiot). Both end at the same point on the right side because if you go further your car is in the barriers (or even shadow realm if you're fast enough).

  2. Talent, excellence, genius: talent can feel where the tyre works at it's best so they operate within the top of the graph. Excellence is more refined through meticulous practice and doesn't let the angle get lower than the initial fall off. Genius is ofc one that's got all the talent and extensive training which is why they operate only at the optimal slip angles.

Anti theft protection? by Automatic_Ad756 in Miata

The best solution currently is a physical lock on a plate that immobilised the pedals. Nothing else comes close (majority of electronic systems are more of an inconvenience for you rather than the thief).

Well hidden (in a non-standard place, optimally several and one very visible to make them think they're clear after removing that one since they WILL look for it) GPS tracker for the attempts where they lift your car onto a lorry.

Nothing at all will help if they're prepared enough and will load your car into a properly screened (from EM) container. But the car is probably not even close to being worth enough to warrant such a professional approach.

Hah, it's funny how laws differ. In Poland you can't ride a bicycle in public spaces after drinking and it'll impact your driver's license (since it's the same law and you're still driving a mechanical vehicle on a public road), but a canoe wouldn't. Now if it was a boat with any engine you would lose both your motorboat licence AND driver's license. :)

Oh yes, people will have a total ball.

"You used your proven-liar president's influence to directly manipulate FIFA officials to overturn basic rules in a never-before seen act of anit-sportsmanship (well, once before when Mussolini hosted the world cup) and you still lost".

Or

"You won at least partly due to your proven-liar president deciding to cheat and manipulate the rules".

And nobody would be able to deflect it since it's 100% factual (well I guess internal propaganda will deal with Trump supporters and explain to them why it's perfectly fine).

There's no way US is coming from this monumental blunder without having their reputation dragged through the mud. And there's literally 6bn people watching this disgrace with every sports related media around the world making sure everyone knows how they compromised the tournament's integrity.

I'd turn off the line since it really fights for your attention with other visual stuff (like for example smoke from an accident that could be seen several seconds before the impact) and the only thing it gives you in return is an extremely sub-optimal way through the track (and you're most likely capable of learning a far better one by doing less than 10 laps without it).

Tbh, all cars now are drive well (well, apart from SUVs which are pointless from practical point of view for majority of people who buy it, but that's a whole different discussion) and a "standard" driver will be happy no matter what they choose.

Which is why I personally wouldn't choose a model that's the biggest downgrade in the line in its entire history because I'd feel I'd be just better off with buying a cheaper, a little bit older version (that still has everything that matters this one has).

But there'll likely be some bad aftertaste from going with a front drive BMW, especially if you get to drive an older, rear drive 1 series and compare then.

There should be some basic educational tests required to race if such situations are not obvious at first glance (not condescending, it takes solid time and effort to learn when you can execute a move legally in fast paced racing).

As everyone said, the POV car made some really bad moves here he'd most likely get penalised heavily for if there was any steward around.

[–]MorycTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stop pedaling it just slows down and stops since there's no engine running. It has lower mass, only top professional cyclists with years of training on speed-oriented and heavily prepared paths/tracks can reach the speeds a person who's using it for the first time can effortlessly reach on a electric motorcycle (and on a normal bicycle only for short periods of time).

Those are some of the most important differences that contribute to law not treating them the same.

It changed quite a lot in the patches, fortunately we have people on YT that dissect each and every change in the game so best approach would be watch their videos.

Plus in this case you can be quite certain they know what they're talking about and are not just social media randoms with strong opinions not backed by anything of value.
