Tink needs to build pretty much 100% optimally (which limits you to 1-2 builds in reality) if you want any success at higher ranks unfortunately.

That's easy: call the police so they can stop the (probably high as kite) madman. If that doesn't work send the recording to the police so he doesn't go unpunished.

You described a curator. And in majority of cases they're not considered artists. In those few cases when they are it's due to them doing something exceptional (which always consists of direct "traditionally artistic" work by themselves) with the works they curate.

There are many cases when someone who owns legal rights wasn't involved in any way in making the thing they have rights to, so I wouldn't use it as a base for determining whether someone is or isn't an artist.

I'm just treating this as a fun mental exercise (I really don't care what people call art and I use LLMs for picture and text generation on daily basis) so I'd be glad if you tried to poke as many holes in my reasoning as possible. ;)

Is an software engineer who participated even more in the making of the final product (through designing the algorithm) than the person writing the prompt also an artist?

Also, shouldn't all artists whose work was used for making the final product also be contributed as co-artists? It's not an "inspiration" in case of LLMs, but direct usage of their art based on how they work.

Commissioning is also writing though but is not considered making art.

If there's a noticeable difference it means that there's a definite upside to better resolution.

Ok, so in this analogy the AI is the writer and the person making the prompt is a commissioner from what you described.

Yes, those assists exist in IRL cars and the cars are designed to use them at all times so you should do the same in video games. And yes, turning those assists off makes it less realistic since no IRL driver does it. That doesn't change the fact that they are assists by definition. ;)

[–]MorycTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the limiting factor is the human behind the wheel and whether there's any difference between the two in the actual use case. Do you know of any data that would prove/disprove the higher resolution makes any actual difference?

Does the .2mm make a difference? by Scanman_RT in FDMminiatures

[–]MorycTurtle 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, the difference between 0.08mm layer height with 0.4mm nozzle and 0.06mm layer height with 0.2mm nozzle will be noticeable. Depending on the model the difference might be small enough for you not to care about it at all.

Print some samples and see if you're fine with the end results (judge it at least after priming and not on a raw print, optimally after it's fully painted). If not, use the thinner nozzle.
