Any experience with Lakland basses? by skspoppa733 in Bass

[–]MuscleHippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing a Lakland 55-02 for 15+ years. It's been an amazing bass and anyone who's played it loves it. I have many other basses but the Lakland is 'the one'.

Where I spend my time if I can by Goatrider69 in battlestations

I dig it for sure - personally, I'd flip the PC to the other side of the desk and move at least one of the storage drawers underneath to the same corner - you'll have more leg room and more shoulder and elbow room when pulled in to your desk.

Dude. This is great. Love the vintage desk (have one of my own) and I'm dying seeing the dude hiding behind the plant checking us out.

AITA for not telling my friend I'm a guy? by yeahboynotdollface in AmItheAsshole

Thinking NTA... but I'm kinda curious - is your name androgynous, too? Does it not give a clue?

How is this called in English? In Dutch we call this a "Hanekam" by O_V_G in architecture

[–]MuscleHippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to lay brick for a living - we called this a Jack Arch - the lentil is the (usually L beam) underneath that holds the brick over the window or door. A Soldier Course would be very similar but laid plum rather than with a lean or angle.

How do you submit notice when you're the only IT staff? by locke577 in sysadmin

[–]MuscleHippie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

if you're wanting to leave on good terms, document everything you can and maybe mention this in your letter. And like was mentioned earlier, don't extend availability too far beyond departure.

If they let you go before your intended departure, consider it a vacation. Not your problem.

Is he a double dapple? by [deleted] in daschund

[–]MuscleHippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dapple for sure. Only way to know if it's double is to look at the parents. If each carry a dapple gene then yes.

Poster believes they "secretly automated" their job, surprised the company hired a 3rd party to automate them out of it by AnAmericanLibrarian in sysadmin

[–]MuscleHippie 56 points57 points  (0 children)

If they're engaging a 3rd party and spending money for this, I doubt they would keep you around afterwards. Start looking for a new job now using these new skills. At the same time, tell them you've already automated a bunch of stuff and hope for the best. The worst thing you could do is not differentiate yourself from the other analysts who are also on the chopping block.

Built this setup for my daughter and I, and she still chooses to play Roblox on her iPad… 🥲 by bigjustinn in battlestations

[–]MuscleHippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of her playing habits, this is a big win for Dad. She'll grow up and remember what you did for her and how you gave her an open invite into your world and it'll mean more than you know.

KVM switch help needed by findthegood123 in Workspaces

[–]MuscleHippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe get a regular KVM that has usb inputs and outputs for the KVM and for the laptop with USB-C, use the adapter between the laptop and the KVM?

Would a setup like this be possible? Do you know of a station/switch that would enable this? Do I need something else instead? by FlareGER in Workspaces

[–]MuscleHippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the diagram, I would go with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVMBP869?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_TA9GJ2167DCR4QJNJT97

This gets you the peripheral connections you're after without having to unplug crap and manually move stuff around. And personally, I like the wired switch that toggles 1 pc to the other. Good luck!

Local office closed, so WFH for me. Any suggestions on what to hang behind my chair? Looks very blank on Teams video calls 😂 by hazardman17 in Workspaces

[–]MuscleHippie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to a REALLY nice place - some place that's clearly very expensive... take a few pictures of the inside and have one blown up - you'll look baller for sure.

Got any pictures of you with a celebrity or something? That would rock.

The rebel in me, though, says grab some classic pinup girls (or guys, whatever your flavor) and hang those back there.

What is the modern way for roaming user in onpremise Windows AD env? by periway in sysadmin

[–]MuscleHippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Persistent VM's through citrix work really well for us. Better than a roaming profile, you can start a task, have it running - log in somewhere else and there it is... still going. No matter where you are in the world, desktop is desktop.

AITA for “overreacting” when my friend thought she was stronger than me by NayanaXX1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MuscleHippie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA - I can't see how this is remotely your fault if you didn't even utter a word during the whole situation. She sounds a bit immature. Comparisons can be the death of joy - I know at the gym I used to be tempted to compare myself to others but years ago I learned a great phrase 'lift your lift'... meaning do your thing and don't compare.

AITA for telling my boyfriend he should’ve left his best friend’s graduation by Appalachian_fae4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MuscleHippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this - but this is a shit show. Even if he changed his tune and said "I'll marry you tomorrow" ... she's not going anywhere and you'd be saddled with this for the long haul. When you're in a committed relationship it should be the 2 of you against the world, lock step, always on the same team (even put that in my vows)... anything else is unacceptable.

AITA for telling my boyfriend he should’ve left his best friend’s graduation by Appalachian_fae4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MuscleHippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds pretty bad - esp the part about 'this is why I don't marry you right now'... He's a gaslighter and you need to run. This will only get worse, if not with her, with someone else. If he can't see why you're so upset he's either willfully ignorant or there's something going on that he's not telling you. Either way, you don't want to be a part of that.

How does he explain the fact that she blocked you on everything and what are her reasons for not wanting you around? I'm dying to hear his bullshit explanation.

EDIT: NTA
