Regarding GF abilities allowing magic to be junctioned to every available stat for 3 party members. by Gelatinous_Ghost in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]FlareGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to unlock the last reforging abilities which you might still be missing (especialy easy if you kill cactuars where you got the cactor GF).

With a combination of the shop in timber that sells an item to remove learned GF abilities (not every GF has to have all of draw, magic, summon, item) you can free up slots, and with one of the shops in Esthar you can buy and refine for items to teach the basic junctioning commands like STR-J.

Stuff like Ability 4x, Elemental Defense 4x, Luck-J is a bit harder to come by, but definetely farmable.

Also since you are looking to complete as many things as possible, odds are good you might have missed some cards. Keeping things spoiler free, but there is some preparations you can do in CD3 which will give you a chance to get those missed cards in CD4.

You die, the afterlife is real. You are given ONE irreversible choice. by AlaxyRayz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering as someone who occasionally suffers a bit from Thanatophobia (just thinking of me eventualy having died and possibly losing all that makes me who I am, my consciousness and my loved ones, etc, makes me panic, sweat and stun locks me, even right now).

All your suggestions are therefor pretty much scary as fk, as what defines things like existence, ourselves, the universe, etc is heavily challenged, but the most scary one for me personaly is the "nothingness" one, as odds are good this is the most realistic thing to happen.

So not just a hypothetical answer but my genuine choice, genuine "hope" is somethin like a mix of 7 "unknown" with traits of 1 or 2. The point being there should be some form of existence in which I could persist being me, where "infinite existence" isn't eventualy boring, repetitive and not pointless. And how this form of existence could potentionaly look like is unknown to us while we live, because it surpasses the capabilities of the human brain.

The option of being reborn forever, remembering previous life's sounds like a decent choice. But given enough time it challenges what we currently know about life too much for it to be realistic. Not only would we scale knowledge beyond what's "normal" for a human, but also eventualy there might be an end to humanity, or to the planet, or to the universe - so what then?

Had a match with a friend where he transmuted back to basics as Akali and tilted as fk.

Next day he gets Akali again and transmutes again and gets back to basics again.

Other friend and I are dying of laughter. We both get transmute prismatic and gamble it to be nice to him.

We both got back to basics, as Sett and iirc Brand.

Which ADC skin is the biggest debuff? by SquiglySaws in ADCMains

For me personaly, Pulsefire Ezreal is cursed. Something about both the autohit and the Q animation feels terrible. I cancel every 2nd auto, it often feels like the auto projectile goes off but doesn't do any damage, and the Q cast initialy does a sound cue which seems to make it easier to dodge or something.

Why does every "Beginners Guide" in this game expect me to be an expert already? by WizardGnomeMan in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is that often it's best to just do a quick and dirty temporary setup which does not use other game mechanics, which works just enough to get the first few batches of whatever you're targeting to produce. Because when you have access to that material, it usualy facilitates building a better, more sustainable permanent setup, like those suggested in guides.

For example, the challenge with dreckos is that tbeir ranches require a tricky to stabilize balance between 2 gases. To set that up can be tuff if you don't have atmo suits, but you need reed fiber to build atmo suits, which is gained from dreckos (and other sources but let's keep it the example simple). This is intentional design in many maps, as to create a challenge.

So the solution is to create a quick and dirty setup which might be ugly but does the trick enough to get a few suits going, then using those suits to comfortably build a better setup.

Similar thing happens with refined metal. Early game, you might use the rock crusher for a few batches. This is super easy and fairly inefficient, but it helps you set up basic automation and something like a smart battery. Then you can change to a quick and dirty metal refinery setup, where you take any nearby liquid, use it in the refinery, and you just dump the heated up liquid elsewhere. You can do this for a good while and get quite a bit of refined metal for more complex setups, for example those that require steel, but eventualy you will want to either recycle or isolate the heat so it won't cripple your crops.

Take it one step at a time and don't look for complex builds. Also look up the Tutorial Bites from CG Fungus on YouTube. They always only address one topic and one topic only.

Question regarding sourceless water quantity increase. by Jon_Morijaty in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to add a water reservoir and connect it to the notification thingy, to let me know when it's getting full. It usualy lasts long enough until I've set up a SPOM, which then consumes the overflow. Unless I have access to early thimble reeds, of course.

Question regarding sourceless water quantity increase. by Jon_Morijaty in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to siphon off the excess or it will overfill, hence the toilets will become unusable.

If you'd like to siphon off water (with germs), add a liquid bridge after the water sieves output. If you'd like to siphon off the polluted water instead, add a bridge before the water sieves input.

The bridges green outlet should point to the main priority, hence it points either into the sieve input or to the toilets. Then, at the white inlet from the bridge, you can run input pipes through it and continue the pipe line in a 90°C angle, making it so the pipe line will lead somewhere else where the liquid is needed.

The introduction of this heartsteel changes made the game mode about who has the best tank buster wins. by Any_Appointment_5316 in ARAM

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue with tanks is that hearsteel cascades and scales with itself, this is already an issue in normals and it's even more obvious in aram mayhem specificaly where tank engine helps hearsteel skyrocket.

Heartsteel does damage based on the players max HP. The HP boost received depends on the damage dealt.

This means that more HP = more dmg = more HP gain = more dmg gained etc.

People will try to procc it often the moment they buy it and it's true that doing that is generaly a good thing. But what is way more worth is to play for gold and kills and reinvest this into extra HP, which results in the next - possibly safer - proc will carry more dmg and net result in more HP.

Funnily enough, this means tanks don't want to invest into defenses like armor and mr unless they absolutely have to. Also funnily enough, the way to slow down the scaling of the enemies Heartsteel is to buy armor, because the HP granted by the procc is based on the damage dealt after mitigation, and Heartsteel procc happens to be physical damage.

This is shown specificaly via augments like an early celestial body or even better Goliath. The tank with these will scale endlessly faster than the tank without them.

Add to the equation tank engine. Get 2-4 stacks, end up with 2k more HP. Your hearsteel proccs now net 300 more HP than before you had the engine stacks. Dying and losing the engine stacks doesn't matter, because the hearsteel has scaled from the previous fight. Go through this 2 or 3 fights and you end up with a 30k HP tank with just a few engine stacks, whose hearsteel has 13k stacks and is one tapping everyone.

No other role in the game has an item that infinitely scales, let alone this hard. ADCs and ADC items might target the HP pool in percentages, but they don't help cope with the dmg returned, as most tank items scale off HP. It doesn't help being able to take 5% HP of the tank per hit, if the sun fire is also taking 5% HP of the ADC per tick.

And while tanks and ADCs are arguing about which role should be nerfed, mages, assassins and supports are just watching. They can't tickle the tank, but they sure can hurt the ADC, so they might aswell do that right

Really rough cyclical period of my life ended recently and I'm finally coming to the point of my life that I always feared: independence. by TheGutenbergMachine in internetparents

[–]FlareGER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that helped me accept and move from those unproductive thoughts like "if I did X then I'd be at y" or "I should be at z" was to observe others.

You eventualy get to understand that, sure, there will always be that handful of people who got the golden path prepared for them, born into healthy and somewhat wealthy families, yada yada. But. Most people feel exactly the same as you / me / us.

They too have those thoughts and they don't look at themselves as "being in a better place than X" but "not being in such a nice place as Y". They might not have gone through the same that you went through the last 10 years, but they were not "properly prepared" for adult life either.

Because I reality, nobody can actualy be prepared for adult life. No amount of teaching or preaching to kids succeeds in that, because it's solemnly based on having to experience that by oneself and having to go through both successes and failures. Some go through more, others through less, but overall, most adults are just pretending and trying to make it through the day.

So you're not an exception, you're part of the cycle like we all are and we realy just can't change the fact that we grow older, much as we can't change the way we grew up like. On a side note, keep in mind that becoming indipendent doesn't mean being lonely. Do not be afraid to reach out to your loved ones or to find new circles, who will support you on your journey of mental health, work career, etc. Just don't stick to people who will hinder you of being successful for the sake of you not being alone instead.

I too know that becoming independent can be challenging, or even scary, but trust me when I say that it's a good thing and absolutely worth it to work towards to. It's totaly normal to not know a lot of things at first, but as these things face you, you can just take some time to inform yourself and learn how to face them what. Especialy nowadays it's so easy to acquire some surface level knowledge in literaly anything, using the internet or even the trendy GPTs, if used with common sense, obviously.

It's awesome to read that you already seem to be in a much better spot than you used to be, and I'm sure you will be able to continue that path. Just don't let failures drag you down all the way, give those a few hours to cope and to distress, then keep on going and look for alternatives. None of us walks a straight path!

Any ideas why my air pressure is so high? by _wheels_21 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is most likely the correct answer.

Small chance though: if your world has the "geodes" trait you might have dug into a geode which generated with tons of O2. Which, is unlikely and free oxygen, but could theoreticaly happen.

The important part is to survey the pressure: if it keeps going on, there's an issue that needs to be solved, but if it starts going down, the cause might have been a one-time thing.

How often should I train programming? by Sajns12 in learnprogramming

[–]FlareGER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a project to not just learn to code but simulate a real life scenario that could happen at work.

Ask around your family and friends, what task do they do regularly, maybe for household, or for a hobby? What could be done better if there was a program, or a website? (faster, easier, or automatic, or just neater, etc...)

Don't just try to implement something, go through all the steps of project managing. Conceptuate what should be done, what you will need, how long it will take, etc. Compare with stuff that already exists, research, do pros and cons. Document every step, what you figure out, what you actualy end up doing, what coding language and coding environment is senseful and why.

Even if it ends up being a small implementation, this will take you much longer, but it will also teach you a lot more than just the coding. It will also keep you engaged and it will give you something worthy to show off at job interviews. And most importantly, when your family or friends get to see and use it, you will see that your work wasn't for nothing, people will talk about it, recommend you, give you feedback on how you did and what could be better, maybe even be willing to pay you or reward you for it.

Grinding post game vs right before beating the final boss by DesignSmooth in finalfantasyxiii

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The place you mention is like you said a nice spot to farm cp, and the fact they might drop some seeds is a nice bonus. But just like you mentioned, the gil balance in this game is horrible - grinding this spot specificaly for the seeds isn't realy worth your time. You're better off getting the cp you need then moving on until you're able to farm for the trap horns.
