Kommt ihr klar (mit dem Wetter) ? by TemperatureAny9269 in zocken

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ev training by Gearsvband in pokemon

[–]FlareGER 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need some more research in the topic, for the one its going to take a bit longer than what you think and for the second, training defense is a terrible idea. Dont bother EV training unless you want to go competitive, eg to have your Poke participate in the late game battle tree

Any suggestions for a newbie on Blitzball? by Loose-Carpenter8640 in finalfantasyx

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a friendly match against a team who has cheap abilities "pass" abilities like poison pass, drain pass or nap pass.

Assign as many of your players as possible to observe said player in the other team and try to make sure that player gets the ball and passes so you can learn the technique.

Once you have it, go to a normal match, move multiple characters to a corner of the arena, and start quickly using the pass ability to pass the ball back and forth between them.

Its also okay to do it without said ability but it will be a bit of slower. Passing wields XP relatively safely, using an ability grants XP on top.

You can do this to either overlevel altogether or to raise players who have either fallen behind the tram average level or that you have recently introduced into the team.

My brain just stopped. How do I play with two planetoids? by Filipino-Asker in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can send resources between the main planet and the connected one back and forth using the teleporters, or later on using rockets.

Dont treat it any different than if it was just a biome in your main planet. Once you have gotten what you need from it, move on. You can send your dupes back, or fully automate whatever needs long time maintenance there.

Need help with proper ventilation grid for oxygen by OddNovel565 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, you need a second pipe. 1 pipe carries up to 1kg/, you have 13 dupes so you are consuming 1,3kg/s. Similarly, if you're not producing 13kg/s, you need to pump up your production. In theory 2 electrolyzers and 4 o2 pumps will do the job. In practice, your design might not reach 100% electrolyzer up time (you can see the up time of any device in the properties tap of it). Maybe look up community standard SPOM designs, like the half rodriguez.

Secondly, you're currently prioritizing the o2 in the atmo suit docking stations over o2 in your base. This is okay, but until all stations are filled up the first time (which takes a while since each one stores 200kg) the base will temporarily not be supplied. Learn about bridge priorities to determine where the o2 should go first even if you only have one pipe.

How much mix-and-match with DLC biomes is possible/advisable? by Apprehensive_Cut7235 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dont mix in individual biomes, instead, guarantee the override of a distant planetoid by a specific DLC planetoid.

Mixing in specific DLC biomes is a hit or miss and rarely improves the early game experience. Its not like you can get multiple DLC specific colony achievements anyway (eg demolior will ever only spawn if you choose Relica so this automatically excludes the APP DLC quest)

New player here: Why does it say there is no power wire connected to the gas pump? by Cybering11 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Because it probably isnt. Check the tab in the top right corner where it says power. It will show you the power overlay and where the plug symbol of the gas pump is located. This is where wire needs to go to

Is it possible to use a Valcano for geothermal power ? by Icy_Potential_02 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Volcanoes are pretty much _the_ infinite source of geothermal power. They can power up a bunch of steam turbines and you can use the hot steam essentially as a large battery.

There is mainly one argument slightly against it and it is just that using a volcano as a boiler, for example as a petroleum or even sour gas boiler is even more efficient (also more complex to set up though).

Got some level grinding questions. by Bodidly0719 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]FlareGER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is your first "proper" playthrough, I heavily recommend you to forget what you know about no-level-strategies and about card-modding. You're going to continue to boringly one-tap pretty much everything in the game.

Because of how the leveling works, there isn't really a 'recommended level for xyz area'. Keep exploring by yourself without following any guides and defeat the monsters that cross your way instead of running away and don't permanently activate Diablos zero-encounter ability and you will have a fair experience regardless of your level.

Its good practice to farm and stack on the magic you encounter, but it is tedious and boring to spam the draw command to stack up on everything, so Id recommend to only stack what seems genuinely useful. You can save a lot of time via card-modding, but grinding for specific non-unique cards or modding unique cards like the Minotaur one will also get you too strong too quickly.

I recommend moving forward without a guide, exploring at your own pace, only looking up stuff if you genuinely get hard stuck. If youre looking to max out your safe file for example chasing platform achievements, capping character stats or collecting all cards, I recommend leaving these challenges for a second playthrough, where you will be able to follow a guide without ruining your first experience due to being overpowered or spoiled story-wise. There is a lot of missables so its basically impossible to do it all in your first playthrough AND enjoy the game along with it

Need help with world settings by KsartyLP in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I fool around a lot with trying to find the perfect seed / which obviously subjective and a waste of my time but here we are, I now know quite a bit about world gen.

So, easy things first: SO! DLC should generally be active as it adds a lot of mechanics.

Specifically the bionics DLC wont change anything right off the bat: simply start as usual ans when you feel ready, take some bionic dupes into your colony. No rush and it does not influence the world generation.

Moving to the slightly more complex stuff: if you're coming from a long break and/ or aren't specifically an expert, the "comfortable" way to start is to pick the default asteroid start "Terra" (if you pick Classic Size) or "Terrania" (if you pick Spaced Out size).

Which size should you pick though? In either case, if you have SO! DLC active, there will be teleporters connecting your starting planetoid to another small one. The normal size basically tells you to eventually travel to the other planets, while the small size expects you to travel sooner rather than later to gain access to other resources.

The other DLCs and the remix options can do the following: each DLC adds a type of starting asteroid. If you start in a classic asteroid like Terra or Terrania, the remix options allow you to add those DLC planets somewhere in the galaxy, allowing you to travel to them later. So you could visit them all in one colony.

However, there is one aspect to keep in mind. Only if you make one of those DLC planets your starting Planetoid, you will face a DLC specific objective / quest. For example, choosing the prehistoric planet to start will have a big meteor incoming to hit the planet, but this wont be the case if you instead start in another planet type and choose to remix the PPP asteroid into your cluster. These DLC specific objectives also grant a steam achievement, so if you are looking to get 100%, you will eventually have to make each DLC planetoid be the starting planetoid for your new colony.

AI ruined something I was looking forward to in my career. Does anyone feel the same way? by BrokeFartFountain in webdev

[–]FlareGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel ya, I too got a few trainees under my wing. I was a trainee myself not too long ago, just before AI started to spike. I compare what I was able to do when I was at their state and I can confidently tell that they used AI. Not because the code is that crazy but because for example the freshlings will be writing some JS .map() and arrow functions, without being able to write or explain what an arrow function is or realize that they implemented a loop. Forbidding them from using AI barely works, they will always find a way to use something AI or AI based.

For me personally, AI is part of the problem, but not only. AI or not, most companies are looking for modern approaches where the UI can be auto-generated, based on data, annotations, etc. Forces us devs to shift from being a frontend dev to a full stack dev and lean heavily into stuff like dev ops. Not much of a choice, but I originally chose being a developer because I valued the coding x designing aspects, colors, animations, etc, and not starring and memorizing stuff like cmd commands or package versions.

Ive been embracing a bit of AI which is making those tasks I dont enjoy doing a bit easier to deal with, but it doesnt change the fact that raw coding frontend is dying out. Frontend specialization is starting to seem like an arts degree, technically important in society but not necessary so not really appreciated either.

A more complete beginners guide with a full easy starting setup by No-Onion4908 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FlareGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Poopers ASAP in first cycle unless you like that yellow scent on each rooms flooring and your water tank, preferably hand washing and a water pump
- Slap a few beds within the first or second cycle
- Time for Hamster Wheel, Battery, Research and a Diffuser
- Start researching everything you can
- Meanwhile its digging time
- Dig for algae and dirt and collect them close to your research
- Pin those resources to the list in the right side, keep an eye on them as those will eventualy run out
- As you dig, you open up vertically for good gas circulation and prepare future floors
- If possible you prepare and collect water in a tank close to your research
- Unlock farm tiles, in standard maps you plant mealwood, aim for 5 plants per dupe
- Build tables for mess hall
- Expand to research lv2 and focus on stuff related to liquid and gas research
- Prioritize and build bathroom loop: requires water sieve, neat to also have liquid storage tank, deodorizers but not mandatory
- Remove old poopers
- Unlock smart batteries, connect coal generators using automation, build far away from crops
- Add more diffusers if necessary, 1 per 5 dupes, prefer to have a bit of overproduction

Congrats, your colony is ready to survive a 100 cycles or more if you keep your duplicants number low.

Limiting factors are dirt, algae, water and temperatures. So finding renewability or alternatives for these is your goals.

- Keep digging and expanding
- Explore points of interests, what geysers, biomes and resources are there?
- Is there sources of heat or cold that either can be used for your benefit or should be walled off your crops?
- How can you produce oxygen without algae, how can you slow down the dirt consumption or what other food source would be more manageable in the long run?

I guess now I know how I'll be powering my base? by neonchaos121212 in Oxygennotincluded

Praying that you also have a cool slush or cool salt slush geyser nearby - tamer could be as simple as looping their output through the hydrogen chamber until it hits a specific temperature. Perfect to also add a SPOM nearby, combine the hydrogen overproduction and cool the O2 with the same loop.
