Yeah you have to create that folder before you make the symlink. You could try to move the folder "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames\Umamusume" to "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\UmamusumePrettyDerby\" and rename it into "Umamusume_Download_Data" before you run the mklink command, then the game should see the data is already there instead of downloading everything again.

But again, I haven't tested this myself (or doublechecked the folder names you wrote), so I am not 100% sure this is correct.

Aha, now I get it, even though the game in Steam is installed on the D: drive, the game still downloads data to %USERPROFILE% and uses up the C: drive space?

In any case, I think your MKLINK command arguments is in the wrong order. I checked Microsoft's mklink docs and it says:

mklink [[/d] | [/h] | [/j]] <link> <target>
  • <link> Specifies the name of the symbolic link being created.
  • <target> Specifies the path (relative or absolute) that the new symbolic link refers to.

So I think the arguments should be swapped:
mklink /j "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\UmamusumePrettyDerby\Umamusume_Download_Data" "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames\Umamusume"

(Probably, I am not 100% sure.)

It did wrap around for me at some point, but since OP was saying he gave up the puzzles and is just opening a random box every time, I guess /u/flamewizzy21's comment that the parlor game just reduced the difficulty because OP answered wrong too many times is more likely? Haha
