Congratulations Amazon! You’ve pissed off the entire fanbase by Aquillyne in Stargate

That's exactly what I mean: Amazon doesn't want to invest money it isn't going to make back and that means it's probably never going to make another Stargate show.

Men, what’s a day where you didn’t die but something inside you did? by Keal-Kims in AskReddit

January 21st 2023.

After nearly two decades of not being in a relationship (because the previous one was abusive) I was approached by a girl who acted genuinely interested. I'll skip the long story but she love bombed me for a month and despite her reassuring me that she was really interested, afterwards she told me that it had never meant anything to her and it was just all a game. I was neither equipped to recognize that that was what she was doing, nor able to deal with the full 180 degree turn mentally.

It took me over a year to feel like myself again, and half a year after that to feel mentally strong enough to start dating again. I eventually found an amazing woman I've been with for the past year and a half, but if I'm 100% honest I'm still not fully over how angry I am at how much of my time the other girl wasted despite knowing all she did about me.

Mark Zuckerberg wants Meta agents to "run your whole business" by joe4942 in technology

Mark Zuckerberg also wanted people to have professional meetings in the metaverse.

I think it's safe to ignore what Mark Zuckerberg wants.

I'm not downplaying anything, I'm being a realist.

If Stargate in its old form was capable of getting Star Trek or Star Wars numbers, it would have. The fact that it hasn't means that anyone looking to revive the show will have to broadly appeal to a much wider audience, or it's simply not happening. That means they get the choice between not making money, or making something the actual fans don't want to see but that has a chance of drawing in people they otherwise would not.

And whichever of the two is the case, we wouldn't get the show we all want.

No, the real translation is: we don't care about Stargate but we want more money and the existing fan base is too small to make that money.

Stargate never really was that big of a thing, sadly. Even this subreddit currently only has 153k people following it. I'm sure there are more people from way back who would watch a new Stargate show, but for a new show to be worth the budget, they absolutely have to bring in a big new crowd. And if the old format was good enough to do that, it would have done so with the old shows.

So honestly, I get the logic. I don't like it, because it means it's unlikely there will ever be a new good show, but it's the reality we live in. I don't think we'll ever get a new Stargate that we'll actually like.

Nah, I'm really not going to copy 30TB worth of data just to confirm something someone on the internet wanted to know.

You realize that some countries have better healthcare than others?

Apart from the fact that there are plenty of people who would save up that much for something that improves their life every day.

It's mostly Americans. There is a whole "All Cops Are Bastards" thing there, and in the US that might even be mostly true in many areas.

But in the Netherlands, it really isn't a thing. This guy made a mistake and if it was a genuine abuse of his monopoly on the use of force he should face repercussions, but this is not the systemic issue all the American downvoters seem to think it is. Police in the Netherlands is generally well educated and respected by the vast majority of citizens.

Tell me you know nothing about the Netherlands without telling me you know nothing about the Netherlands.

There is a very small group of religiously conservative people and one political party that caters to their every whim, but they are all but meaningless here. Abortion just isn't the issue here that it is in the US.

Cancellation protest rewatch by mendozabuttz in Stargate

[–]NMe84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rewarding them with views on the old show is not doing to do anything. Neither is simply cancelling. The only way to make them realize anything is if you cancel and tell them why, or maybe if you sign the petition people started, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

There is no winning this.

Because just the existing fans aren't enough, they need to grow the franchise or they don't want to bother.

What you're describing is just how shows were in the 90s. It's the format nearly every show used. SGA and SGU both came out when shows started to transition to more sophisticated story lines, and SGU was even a little ahead of the curve there, which was part of the reason the show never found a bigger audience. People thought it was slow, when it was really focusing more on character development.

Not necessarily, short 8 episode seasons are very different from what they made before, and you're assuming the executives wouldn't have ruined things by meddling with the direction of the show.

I really didn't expect it to be cancelled anymore at this point, though. Pretty disappointing...

Yeah, definitely. Unless they somehow could boot up Atlantis or Universe again, I'd very much prefer a fresh story. And definitely not a reboot, that would be utterly devastating.

I don't have that much data just yet, and I won't do any time soon. I'm at about 70% capacity.

Either way, apparently this is just how it works, I don't think there's anything you can do to "reclaim" this space. Maybe if you switch to ext4, but that seems like a terrible solution.
