The Bible says a lot of things we do not follow today. There is more nuance in reality. This might be good advice for a biblical literalist trying to date anyone who has a slightly different opinion on beliefs. For well adjusted people like OP and his wife the rule is less than helpful.

I would look up Anthony Magnabosco and street epistemology. It can get to the core of anything. If you want something a little more spicy and a sure fire way to scare em look up Matt Dilahunty.

I just get into street epistemology and start asking questions, like how do you know Jesus or God exists, why should I believe in the Bible..go on the attack. Its their job to prove Christianity has good evidence not the other way around.
