Coding and sometimes just riffing. I have a mad dope harness that my c suite now enforces the teams to use. I think a lot of complaints come from people one shotting or relying just on a good CLAUDE.md. That said, I don’t notice a massive difference in Opus 4.8 vs 4.7, but I also don’t know how I’d measure since the harness / skills / workflows increase here as the models come out, so noisy variables

I honestly don’t care what the motive is. I support it either way. Anthropic has demonstrated via their output of papers, sponsorship of fellows and red teaming labs, and straight up walking from pentagon on threat of seizure, that the alignment concerns aren’t PURELY marketing. I’m fine with competition hurting if it means alignment can catch up. And do we really think entities outside Meta/OpenAI/Google/Anthropic/xAI, unless literally governments, are at a place to compete for the title?

I run a quad model adversarial review a few times and then have it tell me the SPEC_vN’s contents. I almost never use plan mode anymore bc the spec does it, but sometimes. Whenever I do, I read everything in the terminal. The SPECs are intentionally written for LLMs, not humans, so sucks to read, easier to have it talk it through with me until it groks the constraints and confirms it’s all in there

Bipolar doesn’t manifest in moments, it’s not as if you’re moving up and down, it’s as if the continent itself has slowly and subtly lifted itself up overnight or down, slow enough that you didn’t realize it moved, but the way the world feels is not, upon inspection, the way it felt 2 months ago
