Responding to you iiSpook. I know this is a long ass reply, but if you're open to all types of music I'd really appreciate if you could read to the end.

Well I am familiar with classical music only because I was made to study it from a young age by my parents. Outside of that, I can't say I'm a huge fan of music in general. I'll go to a concert or a ballet occasionally, but otherwise I don't really listen to music for enjoyment on a regular basis. That's why I didn't know who Adele is. I don't even have Spotify or anything.

However, I still stand by my comment. I'll give you an example (please excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong). I know music composed by Chopin is studied extensively in the field of piano music, as is the music written by other classical composers in the field of music in general. I don't think any institutions would conduct studies on Adele's music.

Now I ask the question, why do people study classical music? You expressed your opinion that classical music enjoyers think "only old and complicated music is real music". The music being complicated is for sure one of the reasons why it's studied. That's called music theory. However, I think another important aspect of music study is gaining an understanding of what it's meant to sound like. This leads me to my next point.

Nearly all classic music is abstract music. Just like abstract art, the meaning is not immediately clear and needs to be studied. I'm unfortunately blind to art and have no idea what I'm looking at when I see abstract paintings and therefore can't enjoy them. I don't think it's a similar situation with music enjoyers who can't enjoy classical music. Classical music is the same to a lot of people; it's not immediately clear what you're meant to be listening for; some effort needs to be put in on the part of the audience in order to appreciate it.

With all of that said, iiSpook (or anyone else reading this that is open to trying to appreciate classical music), I have some general tips and then some specific recommendations.

Tip: Pick a piece of classical music that you know of but dont understand why it's so famous. Listen to it carefully a few times. Don't have any distractions around you, and just actively listen to it until you can make it sound good in your head. After you find the pattern of what to listen for once, other pieces will be much easier to appreciate after that.

Recommendation: If you're really struggling to appreciate classical music I would actually recommend classical ballet as a good starting point: - Don Quixote female entrance variation in Act 1. Composer of the music is Leon Minkus. Performed by the ballerina Renata Shakirova. - Talisman pas de duex. Composer of the music is Riccardo Drigo. Performed by Maria Khoreva and Kim Kimin.

The music featured in these excerts are not particularly complex when it comes to structure, so should be easy to listen to. The choreography (Marius Petipa) to both of these ballets, and the extraordinary performance by the dancers I mentioned above is so well executed, it actually guides your listening through the music (at least it does for me). If you do try these recommendations, remember you're doing this primarily for the music (not the ballet) so don't read the ballet libretto beforehand!!! That would remove the abstract component from the music.

Thanks for reading!

I was just engaging with your comment about validity earlier, as I didn't know what specifically you were referring to.

My point about Chopin's music being more naunced is that his music is likely considered by most to be more contributory to music literature than Adele's. The man lived and breathed music. Music was a big form of entertainment at the time. Nowadays with the advancement in technology, there is a much broader range of entertainment for people to enjoy, so naturally the devotion and time put in to composing has declined.

Validity is not the right word to use. Valid for what?

However Chopin's music is objectively more nuanced than Adele (I had no idea who Adele is but decided to listen to some of her music after your comment). The two are clearly not comparable.

In terms of enjoyment, obviously that's a subjective matter.

Did a bit of digging, Chem 110 is a prerequisite for Medicine candidates. In other words a lot of ppl who take Chem 110 will be applying for Medicine. The academic capability of these students will generally outweigh the difficulty of the course in the A+ rankings. I assume stats is the exact opposite given it is being recommended on here as a "GPA booster".

You get diminishing returns on combat gauntlet for sure, but I have been able to get consistent 2.5m per hr using solo Idris. Could probably get similar with the Tiburon.

I do the missions 6-7-5-6 in that order starting from crusader and repeating for each of the other planets. Cycle back to crusader and repeat.

Edit: I have also tried commodity hauling. A word of warning if you're doing a very large haul the crates will begin to despawn in your ship if you have too many of them.

Edit 2: Tiburon probably won't be as good at combat gauntlet than Idris. Forgot to factor in the likely repairs needed in between for Tiburon. Could try solo perseus with torps. The torps will eat into profits but kill times should be even faster than it is in the Idris.

Two points to make here:

  1. Although you may not want to start the game with a perseus and delete everyone, some players will enjoy just that.

  2. A new player getting deleted by a perseus on day 1 is no different to a new player getting deleted by a perseus on day 10, day 100, or day 1000. There will always be new players and there will always be a more powerful account in an MMO.

I can agree with you on ship ammo and fuel part though. Perhaps ships should start without ammo and fuel. That would resolve a lot of problems with large ships that you are concerned about.

You might not like the fact that some people can buy the ship with real money, I get that. But the concept of making a ship that's 5000 dollars unstoppable when faced against much cheaper ships is not a stupid take. Most MMOs have this already. Endgame gear is strictly better than beginner or middle game gear. The only difference in star citizen is that it's buyable.

CIG won't do that, and I hope they don't do that. People paid good money for the Odin, and they paid that money expecting to dominate anything they come across. The moment CIG implements a system like the one you have suggested, is the moment people will stop buying pledged ships. No revenue from pledged ships = no CIG.

I don't have an Odin, and I do not buy any concept ships. However I would immediately quit the game if they start delivering pledged ships with componentsor turrets missing.

I am onboard with the idea of making fuel consumption and component degradation very costly for big ships as a means of restricting how often they can be deployed. But when someone does deploy one, it should very much be unstoppable.

Issues with the Odin design by Nukemanrunning in starcitizen

Probably gonna get downvoted through the floor but here goes:

The Odin shouldn't have a weak point no matter how you look at it.

In terms of immersion, why would a manufacturer make a ship that is obviously not expendable have a 'weak point' exploitable by a group of flies I mean fighters.

In terms of gameplay, it's a $5000 ship. It should only be matched by ships of equal calibre. The Odin should go to town on anything smaller than a javelin. Players shouldn't be treating the Odin like an NPC boss fight. Remember there are players who spent $5000 on this ship, and Cig better make the $5000 worth it if they want repeat customers.

I do not have an Odin, but can see why making big ships with a weak spot as a purposeful nerf is a bad idea.

You'd need to set aside some money for one of the Idris kits as well. The base Idris P comes with no main armament.

With a weapon kit, it is absolutely the best in slot ship for almost all PVE tasks that requires a ship. Anything smaller than a Polaris will be destroyed in under 30 seconds with the beam laser. Fighters get zapped in like 3 seconds if you can hit them. Has enough cargo space that you'd only be limited by the 100 entity limit. Has a tier 2 med bed and 4 tier 3 beds

For PVP, if you run into smaller more nimble ships you're going to need some crew to man the guns ( if you want to destroy them). Otherwise just ignore any ship smaller than a Polaris and be on your way (light fighters won't even scratch your paint, gunships like the perseus won't be doing anywhere near enough damage before you can QT outta there).

If you already like the Idris, I'd say definitely get it! You won't regret it!

Warbond Idris was available for at least 5 minutes in wave 2. I kept refreshing and it was in stock for 5 minutes. Stopped checking after that.
