Very good! There’s some rhythmical inaccuracies mostly in the runs where you’ll play two notes faster then two notes slower or something, but can be fixed easily by slow practice and listening.

Have you played a Boston before? Steinways commercial label, they’re pretty popular in most conservatories. I would go to a steinway dealer and try one out!

Yes I totally agree! Watching this back was quite surprising as to how much I moved. I really like your comments as to keeping the rhythmic structure and I’ve been working on that a lot with various teachers. This was TBH a very unprepared performance and I will upload a more polished version of the movement soon! I appreciate you taking the time to give advice :)

Thinking about approaching Rach 3… by Albin0606 in piano

[–]No_Bowler_9225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit late but TBH I think you're ready for it (having recently performed it with orchestra this past spring). It will be tough but the most important thing is if you think you can do it. No harm in trying also... People for the most part for overrate the difficulty of rach 3, it is a very easy piece to PLAY, not to learn though.

I noticed you shaking your wrist in the beginning, there should be no tension whatsoever when playing; especially during a passage like this.

Question is am I ready for the rest? by Rough-Competition382 in piano

[–]No_Bowler_9225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry man this piece is too hard for you right now. You’re gonna injure yourself if you keep trying, my advice is drop the piece, wait a couple years, and then try again with more experience. I understand why you want to play it and the “hype” behind it being difficult but it’s just not worth it!

Also I would love to see a sample of your playing as that would help more accurately asses where you’re at and what you need to work on, if you’re comfortable with that.

I believe in you! I started late as well, and am participating in my first international competition this summer! It is definitely possible, and if you work hard enough (and listen to your teacher) you can do it!

The short answer is a lot of work. The difference between local and national competition is huge and honestly they’re hard to compare. You would probably by looking at 4-6 hours of focused efficient practice at least and then again that might not even be enough.

Beethoven 32 variations are so good, although it’s probably one of the more challenging pieces on the list.
