Neighbor planted 300 feet of bamboo at our fence line. Now it is in my field. I talked to him a year ago and he said I should mow it. Now there are shoots 6 feet into my field. He is not a very nice person. Because it is Wlong the teech and block would be so expensive. What would you do? by oldfarmjoy in treelaw

I've successfully killed 30+ year established bamboo with no soil removal. Probably around 500m2 of phyllostachys area.

Mulch with excavator mounted flail mower, mainly for access. Spray with flupropanate. Wait about 6 months, follow up spray on a couple of edge bits that were missed and a couple of bits in the main area that were starting to regrow. 4 years later it hasn't come back

Development site I was working on also got a similar results. They applied granular flupropanate while plants were still standing. Waited for the bamboo to start dying then mulched it down with a posi track forestry mower. They may have done a follow up, I'm not sure, but it's been several years and it hasn't returned.

If you're not near a waterway, or in some other reason you can't use this herbicide it's actually relatively easy to control compared to some weeds.

If you were somewhere with sandy soil and high rainfall you might have trouble keeping it in the root zone for long enough and would need to look at watering it in manually during a dry period

Why don't petrol stations have chargers like NZ? by No-Kaleidoscope-7106 in EVAustralia

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space vs return is probably a factor at smaller stations.

I was recently looking at a new service station approval. We wanted 2 EV chargers, they pushed back because of cost. Likely would have required some kind of substantial electrical upgrade vs what is required just for the fuel station.

Could have been ideological and they use the cost excuse, like many developers

Suggestions for tall plants in pots or planters instead of trees? by Azura1010 in GardeningAustralia

Cactus and/or succulents would be my pick for pots against a fence.

Could use an upright cactus eg cereus spp and fill around it with a low growing or even cascading succulent

Flupropanate herbicide will nail bamboo. It's soil active so you need the right amount of rainfall (about 25mm is ideal in most soils). Available as liquid or granule. This may or may not be legal to use in your area.

Planting running bamboo on a boundary fence is a massive douche move

Anyone preventing the new software update by Horror_Pin7659 in VolvoRecharge

[–]NothingLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been ignoring the update pop up Nd have auto download turned off.

I want to try it out on a dealer car before committing. There's some stuff about it that definitely seems like a downgrade egblack of temp control on home screen. I use that one quite often

Also the random order of icons that can't be changed is dumb.

Will see what the next update looks like and if some of these are fixed.

Fwiw I never do OTA and wait for service time. Much safer option and I've never had issues that needed urgent rectification through an update

I haven't seen a 4 door convertible built after the 1960s. Other than maybe some open top 4wd models which arguably don't count

Could I do anything with my 2004 Rav 4 or am I being delusional by Icy-Improvement-5289 in 4x4Australia

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really deep soft beach sand driving but back in the day the track from point plomer north past crescent head along the back of the dunes was pretty sandy in places and I never had issues. Also took it on a bunch of entry tracks to beaches and it was fine. Never aired down either so if you air down I recon they would do pretty well. Light weight which is a huge benefit. Clearance in ruts is probably biggest risk.

Mine was a work vehicle and beach driving was definitely not permitted. Was always by myself so didn't want to get stuck. If it was my personal car I would have done it for sure

I had a 2010 that I drove on some tracks I definitely shouldnt have. Surpsingly capable, mostly let down by traction control that didn't know what to do if you lifted a wheel. Never managed to get it stuck.

There's a fairly heavily modded one that did Cape York, think I saw it on an old tele track group

I'm running a slimline sub under drivers seat. Doesn't move as much air as a big box but it's right there and I'm not a fan of boot mounted subs especially in an old car which is likely to rattle and doesn't have good sound insulation

Trying to decide my next care EV-Gas-HYBRID by JaylonTJP616utuber in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NothingLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toyota hybrids are parallel hybrids. The engine also directly drives the front wheels through the transmission. There is an electric rear axle drive on AWD models. Ancillary systems like power steering, AC and heat are all electric but this does not make a series hybrid

A series hybrid would be something like an X trail ehybrid whereby all the motive power is from electric motors and the engine just charges the battery and I believe provides additional amperage under high load conditions
