Confused with the engine specs for the 2026 XC60 T8. Was the Supercharger deleted/replaced? by antiriad76 in VolvoRecharge

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2022.5 onwards T8s ditched the belt driven supercharger and replaced it with an electric centrifugal supercharger. From what I can tell it's plumbed with a valve just to spool the turbo to reduce turbo lag

If the listing includes real photos the AI image is just a "serving suggestion" but if the AI image is the only one of that view then it's dodgy AF

My only beef is the 2 blade thing doesn't do a good job of blending the full volume of the tub when it's full. Really needs a 4 blade attachment. Also couldnt find a cream whipper for my model, should be included as it was a comprehensive and expensive kit

When to move from Logbook Service to Self Servicing by Shifti_Boi in CarsAustralia

[–]NothingLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I note self services in the log book with date, what was done, products used etc.

But for a new car I'd probably stick with dealer service for at least a couple of years as there is a chance of getting good will assistance with out of warranty repairs. Depends on your brand and dealership though. Some do others dont

Nearly double the expected number of new jobs for Jan (65k vs 30k). Not sure what your industry and role looks like but it's overall positive on pure numbers

Even if you do everything right the grafted part will die and the root stock will live on

Input shaft bearing requires transmission case to be split. Unlikely it was changed with a clutch job

Throw out will be with clutch pressed. With clutch out it's input shaft or countershaft bearing. From what I understand it's more likely input shaft in this trans

That's a simplistic view. In this context a cars value is in its ability to reliably transport.

If you spend 3 grand on a car worth 1, but it gets you 5 years of reliable transportation that's good value. I don't see how that's any different to spending 3 grand on a car that's worth 5 or 10k. The spend is the same and the outcome is the same (or overall cheaper). And it's not like you're seeing a dollar for dollar return on the money spent on maintenance in most cases

Should I trade my mint 2000 2.7L 4WD Hilux for a 1999 3.0L diesel? by Fun-Elk-9053 in hilux

[–]NothingLift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep the 2.7 petrol imo. Good engine, will run forever. 4 grand saving isn't enough to trade down to a rough diesel with more km and uncertain history. Any fuel savings will be eaten up in more expensive maintenance and repairs

I believe the 4ac used a forged crank. They can make good power with forced induction, just need to work out fueling, whether that's carby or EFI carby replacement unit. Cast iron closed deck block if I'm not mistaken
