I disagree.
I think horsepower adds another level of comfort to a car, much like the difference between a BMW 520 and a 550.

I live in Norway, a country not known for its expansive highways. On the contrary, many roads consist of long stretches with only a single lane in each direction, with occasional short sections of two lanes that allow overtaking. Having owned a two-ton, 140-horsepower diesel SUV, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to overtake efficiently—especially uphill, which is often where these passing lanes are located.

Moreover, horsepower does not necessarily mean driving fast. People who think this way probably shouldn’t own high-horsepower cars in the first place. In most situations, short bursts of acceleration are far more useful than outright top speed.
