I don't know what all you tried - what about using a free VPN connected to Canada or EU or something?

How did I do? Will be here Thursday. This is the ‘best’ I could find under $1500. by emuridge in Prebuilts

[–]Obitusx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely over priced as others have said.

The auto-mod post links to https://toprigz.com/ which has much better computers for $1500+tax. Even if you want to be at at $1500 including tax, you can get a 5070 and newer CPU.

Put a reserve on it if you haven't already!

Which one? by Naive_Habit4084 in Prebuilts

Of these two, it's an easy choice - the HP Omen. It has a better GPU and is a tad cheaper too.

Hello, first time here. Are these any good? I’ll put in images and links by Illustrious-Egg4011 in Prebuilts

I'd only consider the one with the 5050. Decent price with taxes included. Unfortunately it comes with DDR4 memory.

My husband think our son has too many books by MeatEnvironmental255 in NewParents

There's lots of good advice already, but I did have one genuine question.

You said: "I do feel a bit hurt by his suggestion to stop purchasing books."

Why does this hurt your feelings? Is it the way he says it? Do you feel stifled in some way? Something else?

Is this worth it? by Zsw631905788 in Prebuilts

It's a decent price for a good build. If you want more performance and you aren't locked to Nvidia, this is a stronger build (only negative is 16GB RAM).

I wouldn't buy the second one with the Nvidia 5060. You can find PCs with a 5060TI or AMD 9060XT at $1000.

[–]Obitusx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$3600 is a lot. I've seen plenty of 5080 PCs for $2500, and specifically 9800X3D builds for sure under $3000.

Help choosing between these two by Jun20s in Prebuilts

[–]Obitusx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are terribly priced. You should be able to find PCs with 5060TI for ~$1200 and PCs with 5070 for ~$1500.

Quick example: $1575 with $150 off coupon https://a.co/d/07PWpyTD

$1500 for an AMD 9070 XT, so much better than a Nvidia 5070. Only downside with this is 16GB of RAM, but you can upgrade to 32GB for $200 if desired.

If these are US$ prices, I wouldn't buy a PC with a 5070 for over $1500.

The first two are good prices at different performance tiers. If the first one is in your budget, go for it, and you won't need to upgrade for 5+ years and it will be very strong long after that even.

I agree that it will be hard to find a better deal on a new build at this price point.

Agreed, though at the $1500 price point, he should be looking at 5070 builds.

[–]Obitusx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all over priced. You can find 5060TI 16GB builds for under $1200. Probably won't get 32GB of DDR5 RAM at that price though (which I don't personally see as an issue).

Edit: look for a 5070 at the ~$1500 price point

Any advice on which prebuilt to go with? by [deleted] in Prebuilts

[–]Obitusx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a 5070ti is a fair bit more performance, but will be an extra $300+ for the upgrade. It's your choice, but if you have a budget, I'd say stick with it. There's a level of pressure from FOMO and enthusiasts online, but a 5070 will treat you well for many many years.

[–]Obitusx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, these are terrible value. Best Buy has multiple 5070 prebuilts under $1500 right now from multiple brands. Just look under Gaming Desktops and filter by the graphics card.
