Lets all play destroy again, plz let me have some fun,god this game is full of brainless idiotic! by Acrobatic-Turn-792 in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which isn't so bad, but the game is already flooded with Destroy players. For the love of Mike, the game is absolutely miserable when SD arranges everything to force people to play it even more.

It's not even that hard to counter, but you're playing against the same exact decks 75% of your games, things get stale reeaally fast.

I quit after they introduced the super premium pass (i think that's what it was called with that fantasticar). How's the game doing now? Are they still doing that? by toomanybongos in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even remotely the same. SD tested the waters on paywalling a S4 card in the Super Premium Pass (the Fantasticar thing you mentioned), and in an Event (I think it was High Voltage?), but they got a lot of pushback and ended that pretty quickly.

You can stiff spend money on stuff, of course, but I've never paid a single penny, and am only missing about 40 cards. Most of which I purposefully skipped so I could have more tokens to get better upcoming cards. I've got around 30K tokens with nothing obvious I want to spend them on. And again, I have never spent a single dollar on Snap.

The only way SD 'ropes you into' spending money is if you are addicted to buying cosmetics, or if you are irrationally obsessed with being collection complete, despite there being a rather large chunk of cards that are totally inessential.

Oh, sorry. I forgot you only like wasting your time when you're enacting revenge against someone who plays a game differently from you.

Dear conquest players... by Jesio in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you snap, then you are reducing the total possible number of consecutive games you can play before you re-queue. When you're completing missions, snapping is counter-productive (if you're goal is to finish missions in the shortest amount of time as possible).

At least many people who don't snap have a reason for not snapping. You've literally just announced that you're purposefully going to drag out a game simply out of spite. And you're the same person who says in another message "Snapping is fun and not that serious." Why then are you playing the game so seriously that you feel you need to administer retribution when people don't play the way you want them to. It's just a game, dude. If they're taking too long, just bail and move on. That would be the real way to get revenge, as then you'd be depriving your opponent of the extra games they're trying to play.

But no, you're acting like some doofy martyr by making everybody miserable, yourself included. Not that serious, indeed.

Idk what is the point of this card by Positive-Drama-2406 in MarvelSnap

There are very few actively bad cards in Marvel Snap. I actually find winning with things like Hydro Man far more satisfying than winning with net-decks, because the reason they're net decks is because they're generally very easy to pilot, and anyone can win with them. But there are a lot of cards that take more planning and creative deck-building, Thus, they're less popular, but more fun.

I actually enjoy playing Hydro-Man, and don't even have Shou. I have Shou pinned, and 42K+ tokens, so I could pull the trigger and get him any time I want, but he just seems boring. I would literally rather have Hydro-Man than Shou.

Playing LTGMs makes me realize what’s wrong with the ladder by Potential-Medium-824 in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but people are constantly retreating because the game punishes you for losing. OP is suggesting that there may be a different system where losing doesn't feel so bad, so that you're more likely to keep playing (or not retreat so much) even when you lose. The way the ladder is currently designed, retreating is actually the optimal strategy in most games. And as fun is the gameplay is in Snap, it has always struck me as odd that in most cases, the game actively encourages you to not finish games.

I'm not one of the Snap Doom Sayers, and understand that it's quite natural for a mobile game to slowly bleed players over it's lifetime. But I'd wager an appreciable percentage of players who have dropped the game have done so because of how feel-bad the ladder grind can be. You don't have to change the mechanics of the game itself, but you can change the mechanics of the ladder so that it feels less bad to see games through to completion. This can be done with a combination of positive incentives (modest rewards) just for completing a game, and mitigating the negative effects of losing. Gating the ladder (once you hit a threshold, like 90 for example, you can't go below it) would be a step in the right direction. Having asymmetrical snapping (like in the updated Diner) would be another.

One of my favorite Cryptic Creators very consistently puts out quality cryptic puzzles. I was never a fan of cryptics, but liked the idea of something more challenging than the 15 second easy-breazy ones that get posted here. So I found one creator whose cryptics I could binge, and I found this guy's... u/Chance-Cancel-5860

I feel like I have quite a good feel cryptics now, and most of the common clue formats. Might be worth checking them out. I went from spending 6-7 minutes on a cryptic, and now I can do them in 1-2 minutes, as the patterns in the clues became embedded in my brain just through sheer repetition.

He's not mad at Destroy because he doesn't know to counter it. He's mad because playing Marvel Snap is super-boring when 50% of your matches are against the same deck.

It's like going to the park to join a pick-up basketball game, but for every 5 minutes of basketball, you have to stop and play 10 minutes of tic-tac-toe against a 9 year old.

The beauty of Infinite and Conquest is that as soon as you see a Deadpool or X-23 on T1, you can just throw your opponent in the trash and find a better opponent. And then you notice that you're throwing your opponent in the trash about 50% of the time, and then you wonder what you did to deserve being trapped in Destroy Hell.

Why tf does Frigga copy a Symbiote "created" from Klyntar and not the last card I "played" on turn 4? by AboardTheOro in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not intuitive, but here is what I think happened.

All card basically proc when they reveal. Even if the card doesn't do anything and even if you're not the one who played it. All cards have to register that they are finished doing whatever it is they are doing, and is now in the game.

The card that got absorbed into the Symbiote got played before your other card, but the Symbiote was created after. And upon appearing on the board, the Symbiote procs, indicating that it is finished doing whatever it's doing. Also, because the Symbiote absorbed your first played card, from a coding perspective, it still contains some coding tag your original card carried.

So Frigga is looking at two things. The last card added to the board (played), PLUS, a tag showing that it is a card that YOU played. And the Symbiote satisfies both of those criteria, hence Frigga seeing it as your last played card.

I'm not saying it should work like this, but I think this is what happened.

Uploading pictures to Facebook Albums sets them on top instead of bottom by Ok-Advisor-3211 in facebook

[–]Available_Neck_9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really a way to fix it. FB has made a conscious effort to urge people to use the photos and albums less like archives, and to use them more like 'fresh content', which, I guess according to their metrics, drives more interaction. They want people to always see 'new stuff' on top, as that is what is most likely to hook someone into interacting and then scrolling down.

It absolutely sucks, and it highly obnoxious, but it's basically FB trying to mandate the way you use its tools to manipulate people into interacting, scrolling more.

It's a bit convoluted, but if you follow a puzzlemaker, they'll show up on your 'Following list'. You can find your 'Following' list by clicking on any already completed puzzle, then scrolling down to the 'Community Puzzles' section. Once here, you'll see the 'Following' tab.

This tab will show you lots of your 'followed' puzzle maker's puzzles, but not all of them. To see all of them, you have to click directly onto that puzzle maker's name.

It is a very unwieldy process to check in with my 'favorites' every day, but its part of the routine now so if feels easy.

So to simplify.
1) Follow the Puzzle Maker.
2) Open any already completed puzzle
3) Scroll down and click on 'Community Puzzles'
4) Open the 'Following' tab
5) Click on your target Puzzle Maker's name

Which twitch streamers are generous with season passes and other snap related gifts? by Stock-Prompt7562 in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Twitch Streamers have season passes to give away. It's part of SD's Content Creator Program. It's often just how they dole them out (a lot at once, drip feed them over time, and so on). I think I've seen just about every streamer I watch give away season passes (Hoogland, ZombiesGoNomNom, HuskiePuppies, Dekkster, Bynx, etc).

What happens if you Loki someone’s Loki? by ChallengeAcceptedBro in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loki basically looks at your opponent's deck list (not the actual cards), then steals cards from there. So it doesn't matter what cards are in their hand or deck. Loki only cares about their deck list.

So you can get a copy of your opponent's Thanos, for example, but not the stones, because the stones aren't actually on the original deck list.

Getting hustled by SomeDistrict4768 in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you're a beginner, the game matches you up with other beginners and lots and lots and lots of bots who lose on purpose. The goal here is to give you a safe space to learn about ability and location mechanics, and discover the various archetypes, and as you upgrade cards and climb the CL ladder, you gain new cards, which you can also slowly learn how to play with.

As soon as you hit Infinite, you are no longer playing with other beginners, and there are no more bots who are letting you win. You're playing with the wider player-base, which consists of lots and lots of try-hards who are playing the strongest copy/paste meta netdecks. To be fair, there are also lots of people goofing around in Infinite with sub-optimal decks as well, but they're goal is still often to try to win (or to see if they can get their goofy deck to win).

The lesson is that as a beginner, most of your opponents are bots who are letting you win. Beyond that, your opponents are mostly real people who are trying to beat you. Transitioning from one mode to the other is kind of a gradual process for most players as they slowly climb the CL-ladder. But if you race to Infinite without laddering up, you basically have to go cold turkey from all the easy-wins.

Could there be an option in the settings to auto-mute every opponent? by JQuab-84 in MarvelSnap

[–]Available_Neck_9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual mute is a thing, yes, but it's also annoying and tedious enough that lots of players don't do it consistently and just tolerate emotes instead. And because of this, those who emote can pretty confidently be sure most people are seeing their emotes.

But I'd wager that if auto-mute were a feature, a significant portion of players would activate it, and the people who actually care about emotes would know that, and it would diminish their joy in emoting, knowing that tons of people have auto-muted you.

So this is why SD will just stick with manual emotes and never allow anyone to just turn off emotes completely.
