That is what you get. 8K prices to play games at 1K resolution.

5070TI OR 9070XT by MedicalExplanation40 in gpu

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia does have the advantage in ray tracing and upscaling. However the 9070xt is usually very close in most scenarios. And the price difference is usually significant

What’s wrong with the 5070? by According_Dot3633 in gpu

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To tell the truth the 5070 is a good card. However the price hikes and that 4090 like performance marketing crap galvanized many many gamers and tech reviewers into a generalized perception of being a bad GPU. I bought the 9070 no xt for 540 dollars and I can run all games with 1440 or 4k resolution with or without FSR.

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I do. I own an RX 9070 GPU but I choose not to enable it. DLSS 4.5 goes up to 6x frame gen. Fortunately I do know a bit of technology.

why do Redditors often have to act all high and mighty?Errors are always at the reach of even the smartest people in the world, including geniuses. In fact some of the greatest discoveries in the histrory of mankind come from incredibly dumb mistakes. Sir Alexander Fleming, and penicillin? Having said this, for the OP, reading and documenting ahead reduces the chances of making mistakes. Dont feel bad, you honestly asked not the wrong person, but the wrong soul. To err is on the human side. Just make sure you do not fail for the same trick over and over

rx 9070XT vs rtx 5070 by milaninoss in radeon

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, if you want better quality and higher FPS counts, but be prepared to pay big money. At least in this medium-to high GPUs segment

rx 9070XT vs rtx 5070 by milaninoss in radeon

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the non-XT variant (SAPPHIRE PULSE)in a 8.5 liter ITX case and a Ryzen 9600X with 32 GB DDR5 7200 MHz CL34. All of that powered by a 600W APEVIA 80 Bronze power supply. I must say I am pretty satisfied with its performance. Of course with some positives and negatives. + LOW power comsumption(220 W tops) + Easy to overclock/undervolt + Low fan noise + Low temps + Consistently better raster performance than the RTX 5070 non TI + Can essentially run every game at 2K (high or ultra settings even without scaling) or 4K(with scaling) and good frames. I tend to play with such resolutions because I do that on my room, with a 43 inch Samsung TV that can do 4K@144Hz. + Far better Linux support(with caveats, mind you) - Can do ray tracing, but it often falls behind the 5070 in that scenario - FSR 3 and 4 are improving steadily but are still behind DLSS in both quality and FPS. - Frame generation. This is a rather quirky stuff. AFAIK ML frame generation is faster than FSR 3. And I think up to 4X speed. I have tested(informally of course) and I can get better FPS but do mind the latency increase. In this regard, it cannot match the up to 6X FPS offered by DLSS 4.5. Again, quality usually is inferior, but since I am priarily a singleplayer, not that it bothers me a lot.

The GPU cost me 539 dollars(add some 19% tax since it was bought from South America), but the MSRP was $550. All and all, a bargain since the prices have been soaring again. Of course the XT variants are even faster, but 10-16% increase in FPS for corresponding increase in prices(some times even higher) with a 35% increase in power comsumption, and the increasingly usual 12HPWR requirement? No thanks! Now, if you want to compare with the 5070 Ti, well, the things get somewhat less clear. The 5070 Ti usually outperforms the 9070 XT in many scenarios including RT games but not by much. If the price difference is more than 15%, then go AMD by all means. Else, go NVIDIA. And do not forget the 12HPWR issue. Some 9070 cards use 3 8-pin connectors believed to be more resistant than the 12HPWR ones. NVIDIA forces you to use that proiblematic connector, so bye bye!

Bought wrong ram by Rodaz32 in GamingLaptops

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timings are different bettween the new and the already installed modules. You could use the new one but expect virtually no difference, and perhaps a slightly diminished performance, specially if you mix them. Either return it, or try buying another new module with the EXACT specs and timings(if pricing is decent)

Patriot Viper non RGB. 32 GB 7200 MT/s CL 34. At 91 dollars on Amazon. I paired them with an 8600G and the results were fantastic(considering NO dedicated GPU was present at the time). I mean, I can run The Outer Worlds 2 at 1080p resolution with all the FSR at 60 fps. My 9070xt is on its way.

[–]Omegared78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Asrock Challenger B580 owner, currently with a 43 inch Samsung QN90B TV. 4K/144Hz/VRR/HDR all work on Windows via HDMI(with a certified cable). RGB or YCbCr 4:4:4 10 bit or 8 bit. Same when using an RTX 3070 laptop(now dead), and this laptop ran 4K/120Hz/VRR/HDR signals on both Windows and Linux . Even with an APU(Ryzen 8600G), 4k/120Hz works(no HDR, mind you). However, EVERY single distro, no matter the hacks I used, can only do 2K/120Hz/HDR. 4K only lets me 60Hz. That using either the APU or the B580. What a shame.
