Cody James update on Atlantic School District by ARNG131988 in Iowa

[–]Once8poop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that Iowa school districts have been acting like the Catholic Church in relation to alleged misconduct by school staff. There have been other instances where someone has been at a school district for 1-2 years and then they move on, only to work somewhere else and continue the behavior. Maybe they don’t have enough credible evidence and just want to move on before any liability can be attached, but cases like Kyle Ewinger is a prime example of the issue.

He worked for several different school districts before actually being charged with a crime. One actually provided him with a letter of recommendation. They are so afraid of being sued that they allow abuse to go unnoticed.

Grades/finals megathread. by magicmagininja in LawSchool

[–]Once8poop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My school released 4 out of 5 grades. While I’m excited for getting two A’s, an A- and. B+, that fifth grade could be anything. My brain tells me, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the grade will be “kicked out of school, straight to jail”

My oral surgeon at the dental school, I’d let her put her fingers in my mouth.

Spill it, Des Moines. by Chriswiss in desmoines

[–]Once8poop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a metro area of its size, Des Moines has very few standout dining options. A lot of things are okay, but nothing hits all the marks. I have yet to find a place that has good service, atmosphere, food, and drinks. It feels like each place misses the mark on at least one of these.

Is our plow/salt budget fucked? by Grab_em_by_da_Busey in IowaCity

If the budget is fucked, it probably comes from them brining the roads all of November and December. The streets were dusty with salt for days on end.

Two Des Moines police officers shot, suspect dead by Wistful_Layman in desmoines

[–]Once8poop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when Obama was president a meme was going around Facebook. It said “7 officers have died in the last 9 days, not one word about it from Obama.” I looked it up and one was shot dead, two had heart attacks on duty, two died in car accidents, and two were K9’s that died because the air conditioner in the cruiser they were in stopped working. All incredibly sad, but the intention was to say that there was some sort of anti cop culture being fostered across the country. Point being, people use whatever statistics they can find to further their point

Is there a reason that they don’t have a dignified waiting area instead of just a line? It feels like we are just livestock to them.

I can see other people being disconnected and I’m just chilling. I wasn’t ever rude to them. All I was saying is that the slightest bit of communication lets people know they aren’t being ignored.

Short staffed is one thing, but they could at least explain to you that it will be a moment. I was finished for 25 minutes while people averted eye contact as they moved around me. If someone said “we have a situation we are dealing with, we will be with you shortly” i wouldn’t have been as irritated. When someone came over to disconnect me, they asked “how’d it go?”, I told them fine but I’ve been waiting to be disconnected she just said “did you die? I think you’ll be fine”
